WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN BROWN
Pennant St Dee replied to Dee tention's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agree should be just banned permanently as he/she hijacks everything -
He's still a good defender though with his reading of the play and intercept ability. Rance isn't fantastic 1 on 1 either (better than Lever yes) but his reading of the play and ability to float to contests at the right time setting up rebounds is what makes him so valuable
-
Journalistic license, nothing to see here. Winning takes care of everything
-
which IMO will be a bigger problem for him moving forward than his game plan
-
He's been one of the positives in a poor year, he is starting to get confidence in congestion and use his core strength, he generally makes good decisions with ball in hand and outside of set shots has good disposal
-
FGS Ethan you know not to feed the troll

I've only seen bits and pieces of Taylor outside of the Champs and I really like him, I think he's better than Henry and has more Xfactor. He will really develop well in the full time environment. He's not really been part of the ststem here long, but he's good size, creates a match up issue as he is a threat in the air and good at ground level. He has speed but IMO his acceleration and evasiveness in close gives him more upside to Henry

Keep playing on words and hold on to that He hasn't watched the full replay is the same as when he came out saying they hadn't done a full review of the prelim. I know you are young but surely you've finished school and aren't that naive.
-
Hello Chaser, hope you are well The Eagles are very keen on Jackson as are Freo (keep an eye on Darcy being involved in a Kelly trade) I really liked what I seen of Kent before he did the knee, I see a lot of upside with him and professional environment could see massive development. What's your thoughts on him
-
maybe I haven't watched the full replay meant I watched the first half when they took us to the cleaners.

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - HARLEY BENNELL
Pennant St Dee replied to Tinks's topic in Melbourne Demons
No, stay well clear, he hasn't given himself the best chance to recover and perform -
Cut him some slack, judging by his posts and comments he's not far past 21 and has a fair bit to learn about life. If he's much older, well there's other issues
-
sshhhhhh let the fairytale continue
-
Oh Ffs, if you believe the footy department didn't review the Prelim then don't be late sending your letter to Santa.
-
We were cooked in the Prelim and after 15 mins were emotionally shot it happens, we weren't the first side it happened to and won't be the last and if you recall we tweaked our press mid season last year after the sides like the Hawks exposed it and whilst I understand you're trying to be a smart [censored], even the slow tempo game requires burst running and endurance for repeat efforts We don't have it

The 2019 Draft and Trade Targets Thread
Pennant St Dee replied to Nascent's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know this has been said, but at the time many were touting Kelly as a certain future star and potential Brownlow medalist. Billings was touted as a player with enormous potential. Roos was looking at instant impact and lets be honest Roos is about Roos so highly likely to come back with less criticism if you say we wouldn't have taken Kelly anyway and making it a Salem/Tyson vs Billings debate as opposed to Salem/Tyson vs Kelly -
David King puts the Boot ? in
Pennant St Dee replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Your on the right track a little Paul but IMO the FD may be trying to hard to find a solution at the minute With regard to the players and many throughout the history of the game are guilty of this, you think you're working hard enough and giving it everything until you actually realise later you had another level you could get to. Happened to Ablett, Swan, Priddis and Tom Mitchell, some players never get that moment -

Goodwin will not be sacked FFs is it that hard to understand some reading into King's comments and making their own assumptions based on their own wishes. Goodwin will know he's under pressure but his job is safe and the pre season and season 2020 is when he's got to perform or he will be out- 88 replies

Yep all grass roots footy across the board getting screwed by AFL, turning into America sports wise, all about TV audiences

or possibly because he made a big big error in not tweaking the plan post 2018 and then changing it mid season has left them confused. Whichever way you look at no single person is to blame it's a domino effect, Goody bears the brunt of the heat as he should as head coach, but he's not alone fitness is sub standard for a variety of reasons including the players, not just Misson Effects the players ability to make repeat efforts Effects their ability to spread from contests which they were doing in last years run home Effects their endurance and subsequently their skills and awareness All that amplified by confidence being shot and depth being exposed

In essence for those who haven't seen the game yes we lost because of turnovers stats tell a trained monkey that. We have tried to play a game of late with ball in hand a lot more, it works well when you 1. make the right decisions 2. your players up the ground work hard to present 3. your mids are prepared to run both ways The above fell down because of work rate and execution 1. Some good decisions were made when we tried to use width, but the skill execution seen kicks/handball dropping short resulting in no fluid connection with the second option having to wait or by bringing more congestion to what shouldn't have been a contest 2.Our forwards do not work anywhere near hard enough to present multiple leads and/or lock the ball in. 3. When we run forward the connection breaks down for reasons 1 & 2, we lack gut runners to get back on their opponents as they all head to the honeypot and think the job is done, no desire to anticipate danger on the the outside and a defensive mindset to either lock it in, give away a free reset and negate the fast break, and a general lack of desire to run hard enough to shut down the corridor Watch our mids closely they do not run hard enough our forwards outside of Tmac do not run hard enough I'm not talking total kms I'm talking burst running we just don't do it. The domino effect this has is what you see last night and in last quarters This can be turned around but it takes Fitness overhaul which will improve the skills Desire and will to work hard and go when you are out on your feet A few trades to bring in or from our VFL stocks 2 outside gut runners and find 2 contested groundball animals inside forwad 50

Brave man STMJ Didn't have the courage of your convictions until tonight's game to respond I agree with the first paragraph, he chose not to bad decision by him and something he very much needs to learn from or he'll be gone next year. If you can't see game plan changes then I can't help you, I never said anything about them being the finished article or that it meant Goodwin was on the road to becoming Norm Smith Nothing changes I'll not make a final call until I see how we respond next season. I'll leave you and the other finger pointers to spend the next 4 weeks saying I told you so. Do I want to win the next 4 games, Yes, but it won't change anything, the season has been a waste and Goodwin and the FD need to rectify things pretty quickly

Demonland Player of the Year - Round 19
Pennant St Dee replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons

STMJ, surely you've seen since the bye particularly in the last month the players trying to play at a slower tempo and maintain possession a little more. Problem is very hard to change completely mid season what's engrained and when put under heavy pressure they revert back to what they are accustomed to. The fast moving bash crash chais football needs older hardened bodies with several pre seasons under the belt I think we'll see a mix of both as we move forward and the players being capable of adapting to both with more experience at this level
