  1. and even if we don't get clark Freo now will have to use pick 16 & 20. They have already given up the compensation pick gievn to them which I am sure they intented to use next year. Not sure who it was or in which thread but a demonland posted did say when dealing with trades and picks it is not always about the now
  2. Seemed to work at West Coast pretty well this year with Cox, Natainui & Lynch and also took a lot of pressure of third tall Darling in the foward line. Could do the same for Howe or Watts and I really think if Jurrah was playing as 3rd or 4th tall a lot of teams would struggle to match up on him!
  3. I heard Colin Young (O'mearas manager) being interviewed tonight about Jaegar being picked up by Gold Coast, the kid has hit heart set on becoming a Docker but realised on Monday night it probably wasn't going to happen. There was some further discussion that had Port finished last they may have been able to get a try for him and something may have been able to be done with West Coast & Ebert. After saying all that Young said but now Jaegar is happy going to Gold Coast and getting into the AFL. Afte hearing this and having already been burnt by 1 Top Pick I am actually glad we didn't give away everything to get him, there will be money thrown at him by both WA clubs to come home if he proves to be as good as they say
  4. FFS if Adelaide get the pick they get it, we still hold the other picks. It is not a done deal yet this time yesterday the four way club deal was a supposed done deal. Sillvagni says it's almost done (maybe in hope Dees or soemone else will come back with better deal tomorrow). Grubby Allen is crafty and a master of gaetting clubs to pay overs or to eliminate each other. MFC don't pay overs the cards will start to fall now once mini draft picks are sorted. A lot has been on hold in the trade week over the first couple of days as usual, clubs feeling each other out. Hawks will now try and get an early pick from somewhere and have to give something to get it. As usual the last day or two of the trade period is hectic and trades come from nowhere.
  5. Still doesn't make sense the way I read it, I would say today stalled more to the point no one knows if it is actually able to be done or not. At the end of the day looks like GWS are the main winners. Early games being played in trade week as usual
  6. If it's true take it, as they say the draft is thin this year so pick 6 would be very useful. Keeps us with other cards up the sleeve to chase 17 year olds
  7. Greene will still be there at 12 recruiters still get blinded by combine results and he didn't go that well but no matter what they do they can't test you for footy smarts or how you react in the pressure cooker!
  8. Yeah nothing much will happen from anyclub all talk but nobody will be prepared to take much risk with compromised draft!
  9. Tapscott has huge upside he will never be an out & out star becuase he will just do the basics right and nothing outstanding. He is our Beau Waters and every good team has to have 1. Vital part of our jigsaw I'm all for getting Dangerfield as the outsider we need but don't want to lose Tappy n the process, Bater, Dunn & Davey I don't see in our best 22 2013 and beyond so if one of them has to go in the deal to get Dangermouse so be it! Although Adelaide wont be bitten twice after picking up Tambling n trade week 2010!
  10. I'll jump i here and back up my fellow ranga's(well i'm as close to red as you can get) Bate and Lingy. We might not have talent but generally as a race we are hard. But seriously depth from 2013 will be our strength it's all very good trading for stars but what will get this club over the line I don't know if I knew that I would be a rich man just offering my 2 cents as an avid supporter. I have know doubt we have the talent and good kids at hand I believe from here on in Prendergast and Neeld etc putting the final pieces into the jigsaw is where it gets really difficult and where you earn your quids. Plenty of good sides over the last 20 years have been moulded but getting that extra to get you over the line is where it gets difficult.
  11. As much as it might fly in the face of other posters we are even in development. Our defence is way above theirs however their forward line is ahead of ours but then again offence gets you memberships, defence gets you premierships I will back us against them over the long haul. But exciting times and rivalry ahead for both clubs, but in their defence Cotchin will be an absolute gun don't see much ATM splitting Trengove & Martin huge upside both ways
  12. in regard to your midfield Viney and trengove, gysberts 2013 + excite me have the makings of good midfield. Bail & Barts (yes Barts) will be quality run with players, Jones and Beamer are absolute in and under but cant use the ball like the greats. I honestly think once our boys develop and if we get an A grade outsider Jones and Beamr will become Mike Sheehann Top 50'S as there main strengths will be noticed and their weaknesses's will be less scrutinised. We are on he upward slope fans just need to be patient
  13. I saw Judd play his first game in the WAFL and from the first clearance you knew he was something special, just took the game on and had the excelaration and arrogance to do as he pleased. As Tony Micale said to Judd's East Perth players and supporters after the game say goodbye to this kid because you wont be seeing him here again. Have not seen much of O'Meara, he has had bad OP, but have spoken to recruiters and development coaches in WA and while he has big wraps have not heard of him being Judd like. The scout who is talking him up so highly may be from GWS pushing up his trade value. One WA development coach I have spoken to still put David Swallow as the best player he seen in the last 5 years from WA at the age of 16 Right now he is being talked up as No 1 pick if he was in 2012 draft but so was Darling many years ago, another kid like a Trengove and Martin will push up next year and like these two may leave their run late. All I am saying is we really need to do our homework on him before we commit the cards we possess!
  14. Sounds good if we can arrange a trade and get one of the top 17 year olds, it will virtually give us 2 first rounders in the 2012 draft as we already have secured Jack Viney
  15. have heard plenty along the same lines regading this also!
  16. Not certain but I would guess, journo's knowing O'Meara is sought after and looking at the Draft Order as to who has first pick after GWS. We all know they work of assumptions and putting 2 and 2 together to get 5!
  17. Matt White - if he came cheap would not mind Goddard - goes without saying would love to have him, but what are you prepared to give Masten - Crab, if you think Bartrams disposal is bad think again, Masten is a great athlete holds junior records at 400 & 800m in WA. Having said that in the last month of 2011 he played a role within Eagles structure but don't rate him at all. If West Coast had taken Morton with pick 3 in 07, we would not have taken Masten. It was well known the Eagles were going to take him with pick 3. Carlton were locked in for Kruezar with pick 1 and Tigers weretossing up between Morton & Cotchin I prayed at the time for them to take Morton but as we know they didn't. Lake - not what we need, selfish, unsettles the player group and not as good as Chip!
  18. I like what I see in Grigg but don't think he will be available, Toby Greene & Liam Sumner could be available at 12 so would not be sad to see one of them taken. I heard a lot earlier about Todd Elton but do we need another young tall.
  19. As we all know there are players who are not touted in pre draft articles but absolutley prove the pundits wrong in the seasons after. There will still be some good kids when we get our pick and it depends on what other clubs are looking for, I think it's safe to say the Power & Crows (if they trade Maric) will target Ruckman so with Billy Longer the Top rated draft player that will change the draft order. We ave plenty of young kids as it is and the compensation picks we picked up for Judas will turn out to be very valuable commodities!
  20. Eagles wont catch sides unaware next year, don't see Embley, Lynch & Nicoski playing like that again next season Glass, Kerr & Cox aging bodies. Hawks for me but a lot can and will happen by this time next year. One team suprises every year and one team usually falls away dramatically. Pies still have quality cattle and yesterday will hurt and burn within, but my focus for 2012 will be the Dees, new coach another pre season into our kids and who will be the Stefan Martin who surprises us all and steps up next year
  21. This is good get for the club, at last we have become serious and matching the Football Departments of the bigger clubs. Not expeting a switch to be turned on and change to happen immediatley but I think as is the case now we are heading in the right direction. 2012 will seperate the men from the boys and anything else will be a bonus but 2013 onwards is where the MFC announces its arrival and starts getting serious
  22. Dont get me wrong both together would be good but I would not break the bank for Dawes, he would be a good aquisition but I would much rather spend that type of coin on a quality midfielder
  23. Living in WA I only get to see some VFL highlights or stuff on the net. Whilst his game against Port was Rabbit in the headlights stuff I would not judge him on that. From the glimpses I have seen he is light but that will change in another year or two. I have also seen some god signs in him attacking the contest which he even did a couple of times against Port just wasn't really up with the tempo, which will come. So my way of thinking is he cost's very little and has a lot of upside. In 18 -24 months or seasons 2013 and beyond we will have a 200cm, 100kg Forward who will be able to attack and break packs we will be paying around $175-200k per season. I do not see us pushing any where near the Top 4 until this stage but if we were to draft Dawes or someone similar they would be doing much the same for around $5-600k perseason
  24. Green is every bit as good or if not better than Embley. Embley pplayed as a front running outsider this season after spending 3 years as a hack in the midfield. If you look back over the last 10 years Green is streets ahead of him and I would also say Greens 2010 is far better than Embleys 2011. Whilst comparing him to Cox, Glass 7 Cox is like comparing apples and pears
  25. Small crumbing forward Alroy Gilligan, young indigenous boy from Fitzroy Crossing was very impressive for Claremont's league side today in their win very clean with hands and feet made good decisions and unlike many of the indigenous forwards played the percentages to teamates in better positions rather than trying to kick GOY from every opportunity , a young boy 19/20yrs Tom Lee played well down back before going forward late 194cm and versatile, Kane Mitchell older midfielder was good again and should have won BOG, while fo Subiaco Kyle Horsley and David Bristow were both good through the middle in an othewise bad day for Subi
