  1. Yes it is wrong to ever wish for your team to lose, that is how the list management saga was born! I want to see the same level of effort brought by the players this week, one things for sure Freo will always bring effort I want intensity and dogged determination for every contest I want to see every Dees player walking off the field having left everything out there after having a red hot crack Whilst I want a win I want to see all of the above and continuous improvement each week
  2. That is not what he said Stuie and you know it
  3. The only one I have seen live is ACRES and I rate the kid, he would have captained WA had he not injured his shoulder, he finds his own footy and uses it okay but then again WAFL colts is hardly pressure cooker stuff so it is really only at finals time or senior exposure you can judge this. Will be a good pick up and think along the lines of a Vlastuin type who will play off a HBF before developing a tank and getting more rotations through the middle. From what I have seen via footage I like Billings and Aish looks to have silky skills and very good disposal
  4. Not a big one for the past but gave me the shits when SEN pregame was talking this Geeling side of 07-13 up as the greatest side of all time. The panelists all spoke about the Threepeat Brisbane side, the Hawks of 83-91 & the Pies team which won 4 in a row. At know stage was our side of the 50's & early 60's ever brought up.
  5. I read the article and suggest others do carefully. still 3years from realising their potential is what the article says. Nice little play on words by Jay Clark. 3+ the previous 2 is where that comes from. More than likely Jay didn't bother asking Neeld what he meant by realising their potential or quite possibly did ask but did not include the answer in his article. Neeld may have meant our potential was regularly competing withthe big contenders
  6. i thought this was an opinion site howe working tirelessly to draw his opponent away from the hole in front of dawes when he was leading. he prevented tiges going two up on dawes. when down back stood in the hole in front of vickery & riewoldt. was prepared to go 2nd/3rd man up when needed. garland beat his man made the decision several times to attack the loose ball and provide some rebound.
  7. 6.Terlich 5.Davey 4. N.Jones 3. Frawley 2. Garland 1. Magner Biggest positive was having to give a lot of thought to who got in Dawes Dunn Howe & Jamar all had good games and Sellar played his role well down back
  8. That was Barlow & Suban, not just 1 of them, or with the other clubs looking for a forward, possible scenarios Lions: 1 of Rockliff/Zorko/Rich/Redden & a kid like Polac Port: You'd like 1 of Wingard/Hartlett & another young player but maybe push your luck and request Wines and another kid or Wines and their first pick Dogs: Not sure would they offer you a Dalhaus & Smith or could you tempt them to trade Griffen before he becomes a free agent along with another kid or their first pick, they wont be far away from us in the pecking order so I think not much would be on offer from them All this is hypothetical, and things pan out as the season goes along but who knows Hawks may want a shot at a power forward if Buddy moves on, Cats may want one to give Hawkins a chop out, Carlton could do with one. Long way to go
  9. You wont get Fyfe, at best from Freo you will get Barlow and a young mid or another player who can rotate through eg: Suban
  10. I should clarify I was not sure when he was All Australian but I knew he was at some stage in his career and he was definitely one of their top players in 2001, held down CHB in their side which made the Prelim and went down narrowly to Essendon. Croad went either 2nd or 3rd in the draft not sure which but I know we had first pick and took Trapper and Ottens & Croad were also in the Top 3. There are teams who will give up players for a shot at Thomas Boyd in this years draft, Port, Lions, Freo, Dogs all in desperate need for a future Key forward, if we have Pick 1 or 2 there is a possibility they may offer a bit for the chance, not sure GWS would take him with pick 1 but you never know
  11. 2001 Trent Croad All Australian CHB traded to Fremantle along with Luke Mcpharlin for Pick number 1
  12. Dermot Brereton could have taken the words write out of my mouth this evening in pre game on SEN when he spoke of Cale Morton type players saying they are really pretty skilled players but they don't win you premierships, he said how when he was on the Hawks board and they planned he made a point of requesting nasty mongrel types to the club. It's the kind of player I have always liked these type of players and they never let you down and they hurt just like supporters
  13. Sylvia is a FA come seasons end so can't be traded, I would keep him as he surprisingly has been one who has not gone missing this year
  14. No unless you get in his ear right now and say your considering rookie listing him with certain conditions to be met through the rest of the season. Still against picking him up
  15. They all sound great according to the author, but when was the last time you read an honest write up, eg country kid who can only train two/three times a week due to travel constraints but shows a lot on game day and could really flourish in full time/professional environment. If this kid lived in the city and was able to train daily he would be going a lot higher in the draft - That would have been the honest assessment on Dean Kent I think a lot of the authors do little homework, Dom SHEED plays for Subiaco not Swans Districts for starters FCS. Pretty confident Barry Prendergast did most of his recruiting from these write ups and I hope Jason Taylor has brought the Collingwood professionalism to the club in this area
  16. Think again Demon WA, I will just leave it at that. He is and will be a waste of talent, the boy can play though.
  17. Sydney made the Prelim in 2003 (Roos first full year) and were only over run by the Lions in the last quarter, Stuie Maxfield got onto a clearance at the start of the final quarter and sprayed it, had he put it through they either would have drawn level or to within a goal. Against the run of play Lions kicked a couple and it was game over. I'm sorry but under Eade the Swans were never a basket case, I think it was to a case of time was up and he and the team needed a change. What we are seeing at our club has not been seen for a long time, maybe Sydney before Barrassi went there. I agree with you though Neeld has to go now and someone even temporary needs to take over to install self belief and confidence. Otherwise more of this could ruin the players/club for many years to come
  18. They will be fine with that, us Irish have attended many Football competitions around the world with no hope of winning it but the drink and party (craic) is something you can't describe. A win is a bonus. I was at the 1994 World Cup and attended the game in New York where we beat Italy, we were drinking in a bar after the game and the place was full of Paddy's. The bar staff could not keep up with the crowd, two Irish fellas jumped the bar and asked the bar man how much he charged for beers, when he told them they started serving and all drinks were paid for and the money put in an ice bucket at the end of the bar. Great night had by all
  19. I'd say that is because they are debating not if but when? I'm sure the candle will burn deep into the night tonight if it did not last night. Calculations, phone calls and other matters will more than likely be discussed/ironed out before the decision is made
  20. I hope P-Man you differentiate between Neeld supporters & people who don't like quick reactionary decisions being made. I have been consistent since the Essendon game Prior to the Suns game We have a shite midfield - part inherited but also part created by roles I think it was BH I responded to in Round 3 when I said I was losing faith in Neeld, but felt he needed to stay I saw positives against Carlton as we had a dip and seemed desperate but just weren't good enough D'landers picking and twisting things said in a press conference for their argument needs to be defended and clarified for fair topical debate. Same with Stats (Yes Stuie this is directed at you particularly) Post Suns Game I am no longer losing faith in Neeld the faith is extinguished as of quarter time yesterday He is done the team is hesitant and the players are in self preservation mode to scared to make a mistake and make a decision to leave their man and attack the ball, block, sheperd, run to create space or any of your basic 1%ers Lack of inspiration to have the boys up and firing at first bounce Failing to put a player/big man in a floating role till the final quarter and stem the flow. This needed to be done 10 mins into the game The midfield and list still is not top notch but they are that devoid of confidence yesterday they failed to bring the non-negotiables which do not require talent Whatever the club does will cost money, Neeld will not see out the contract so no harm in cutting ties now, whatever the issue is between Neeld and the team is irreversable and action must be taken ASAP The process to select a new coach needs to be done properly and with no stone unturned, this is our last chance and the sooner we start the process the better Peter Jackson's comments over the weekend say a lot really, all facets of the club are a rabble and just because you spend more money than you did before does not mean you will achive success if it is not spent in the correct areas The decision on Neeld is not about finances, yes he has to be paid out but if this continues the hope will be gone, crowd numbers will dwindle even further and the financial side of the argument becomes irrelevant either way We are on our knees and no we are not at Fitzroy stage yet but all hope is almost lost, without hope we have nothing no reason to follow AFL (It's Dees or WAFL for me), no reason to tell our kids to follow the Dees and with no hope no reason to give financially to the club with money which continues to be wasted despite best intentions. Immediate stability needs to be implemented and the CEO/Board need to do that now, show some respect to the senior players we have and invite leadership and input where you sit down and ask them to raise their issues, which can be either addressed or the reasons certain targets/requirements can't be met. Respect given to Sylvia & Frawley may see ownership/committment/buy in to the cause before their agents get offers from outside to good to knock back The next 6 months is the most important in the clubs history and we need to get everything right. At least we have someone in the CEO position who is somewhat unbiased at this stage to make correct decisions and save us from the point of being permanently irrelevant.
  21. Fcuk me my five year old is counting down the days to going to see the Dees against Freo in two weeks, poor kid at least I can have a few beers & laugh. I will take small positives whilst watching a kid develop or someone getting on top of their direct opponent and my boy will just be wanting to wave his Dees flag!
  22. Don't rule out a first time coach, yes we have got it wrong but I think it is well documented we were wrong in our process. Hire a team to conduct the interview selection process, who has no connection with the footy club. Totally unbiased process and allow past and new coaches apply. If Roos doesn't want it that is fine but ask him to head the process and pick a coach with the values he believes will change the team culture and get the list playing to the best of their ability
  23. I travel to Victoria next Saturday for work and I am heading to Cats vs Pies on Saturday night. Have to head to Bendigo Sunday for work Monday and was intending to head up after the Richmond game but think I will head up Sunday morning for lunch & a few beers. FMD I really need this nightmare to end!
