  1. Its a bit early for this isn't it? If this article came out at the start of next year it would have been a decent read. As for Garry. He's been off the ground for a long time now. Hasn't done much coaching work apart from the Ireland tours, which was a fair while ago. If it comes to the point that Bailey needs to be replaced then I hope Garry puts his hand up. But I hope its not handed to him on a platter just because he is one of the 'old boys' Im backing Bailey will getting his contract renewed.
  2. I have been thinking about this one for some time now. And would like to know what other posters think. Obviously we are still rebuilding. But what do we need to finish the rebuild? What type of players do we need to draft? Defenders IMO the backline is looking good. Warnock, Frawley, Martin, Garland, Rivers, Bennell, Cheney. With Grimes and Strauss also developing there over the next couple of years, and Davey, Green also rotating through. So there is no need for immediate attention. Midfield Inside we have Brock, Moloney, Jones. While being a bunch of great players, They are all about the same pace. Outside we have Morton, Blease, Strauss, Grimes all developing. Add in Green and Davey. Bruce is in steep decline. Buckley is the forgotten man at the moment and big question marks over Dunn and Bartram. Haven't seen enough of Bail at this point to form a judgement. Rucks Jamar can certainly ruck, but is still not great around the ground. Johnson is decent around the ground but can't ruck. Meeson has shown that he might actually make it before getting injured. He is clearly very injury prone looking at his history from the crows. Spencer, could be something. Forwards Talls we have Miller who tries hard but is not going to be the superstar we need up there. Newton has had almost 4 and a half years on the list and so far the best things he has done is take mark of the year and he has kicked 9 in a VFL reserves match. Watts will develop and take a KP spot. Mediums we have Jurrah who will be awesome, but I reckon he will take a pocket or flank rather then FF or CHF. Bate is taking awhile to come on, but will be better once we have some decent talls to take the pressure off him. Sylvia will hopefully keep playing the way he is and spend more time in the midfield next year. Pettard still needs to develop. Regarding the smalls, we have Aussie, Maric, Jetta all developing. So What Do We Still Need? Defenders - We finally have a good developing backline of talls and smalls. No need for action here. Midfield - (1) A Superstar outside midfielder who can get his own ball. (2) A good inside player with pace. Rucks - (3) A Genuine ruckman who can ruck all day who is also good around the ground (Might be Spencer but time will tell) Forwards - (4) A Full Forward. (5) A 200cm player who can rotate between 2nd ruck and 3rd tall forward eg. Paddy Ryder type. (Martin might already be this player) I think that this year the way we are headed we will hopefully get Scully and Butcher who will hopefully take up two of these problems. 2nd round pick I hope we use on the (2) A good inside player with pace. The rest of this years draft will be pretty shallow. This is what I think we still need to complete the rebuild. What do you think we need?
  3. Opps! I was suppose to say 'Warnock' and rivers! ill edit it now!
  4. When drafted he would be 18 years old. He could still grow a bit more, such as Morton has. And by the time he reaches the age of 22 Warnock and Rivers will be 29.
  5. Nice post. Yep, he won't be quick enough to be the Judd type. But as long as we have got a Blease, Buckley, Davey running past him receiving the quick hand ball he wont have to be. The problem at the moment is that Jones and Moloney are similar pace. We need 1 or 2 quicker inside mids on the list. He will be captain next year. the only other options are Bruce and Green.
  6. I would love it if we beat them, especially after Eddies coment after richmonds first couple of losses.
  7. God its good to see him back, hope he has a good year and stays on for a couple more years.
  8. Apparently the kid who tackled him was a Rangers team mate. This is bad news. I was dreading one of our young players getting an injuys like this. As for people saying we should stop Watts from playing school footy now. Thats just stupid, you cant wrap the kid up in cotton wool for the next few years, the injury could have easily happened in a training session. Remeber when Spider Everitt sprained his ankle when he was walking in his backyard?
  9. Too hard to make a call on some of those players. It would have been eaiser to say I dont think these players contribute to our next premiership Dunn, Bell, Newton etc etc.
  10. Yeah I wanted Swift or Zaharakis. Strauss has an amazing kick on him though, would have thought we would have seen him by now. Worth watching the youtube highlights to remind you what we are waiting for.
  11. Outside midfielder/Wingman Pros: Super quick, Good disposal, Takes the game on with his speed, Tackles like a cheetah vs a gazzelle Cons: Really Skinny. Check him out at the championships last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GWVXBOSG1BM
  12. Violence against women? Australia says 'No' Ever seen these adds? This is because bogans across the country do beat women, im glad we booed him. Its not something Australia as a whole should let happen. Im not going to boo sylvia, but if supporters of other clubs want to then go ahead.
  13. Any news on Jurrah yet? Seems a bit odd. Not popping up on any injury lists. Dont really want to be the one to bring it up, but I hope he hasn't got home sick and gone home.
  14. I have made my view fairly clear on the 'Whats more important thread' but for the sake of this thread. It will be a tough time at the end of the year. I personally think we will have to delist anywhere between 5 - 7 players, depending on the depth of the draft. Im thinking 6 personally. which gives us - Priority pick, Round 1, Round 2, Round 3, PSD 1, Elevate Spencer. Thats depending on us winning less than 4. If Valentine continues his current form he will need to be given a decent run in the firsts to see if hes worth it. I heard that we might be able to rookie him for another 1 year?? Robbo, McDonald, Wheatley, Whelan, Bell are all the main ones who would be gone at this stage of the year (Still a long way to go till the end of the season) Tough to pick another. Dunn, Pj, Jamar, Bartram, Mcnamara are all there. My choice would be to delist McNamara and then pick him back up in the rookie draft.
  15. Im not writing him off, its round 5, he has got time. But look at the position we are in at the end of the year, we need to delist 5-7 players. Name 6 players who deserve to leave the list before him. Delist and then Rookie him seems like our best option. As i said, its round 5. A lot will change by the end of the year.
  16. I havent seen him this year, but i dont think many people have as due to injury. In my inital post I said that we should de-list, and then rookie him again. He hasn't made any real impact around the club yet, but was bottom aged when we got him and deserves more time. The only reason i choose him is because i think we will need to get rid of six. especially if we get the priority pick. We will get Pick 1, Pick 2, Pick 17, Pick 33, Pick 49. then Pick 1 in PSD. Also need to make room on the list to elevate Spencer. Wheatley will be be unlucky but you would think another club would pick him up in the PSD. Its not that I don't like Wheatley, I think he adds good value to the team, but I cant think of anyone else who would be delisted ahead of him. P.J? Jamar?
  17. Robbo, Mcdonald, Whelan, Wheatley, Bell, McNamara. Thinking we could Delist then rookie McNamara. Three of my fave players in there. Going to be a sad last game of the season.
  18. I would love to see us come out and win some games, but lets be realistic, how many games are we capable of winning? At best we would finish with about 8 wins. Realisticly we could win 5-6. I would much rather only win 4 and get that extra pick. In 2010 we are going to win more games and head up the ladder, finals should be our aim but we will probably finish 9th - 12th. Normally giving us a good mid range first round pick. GC17 will push this pick back. Which makes it even more vital for us to get that extra pick this year! Pick 1,2 and 17. Scully, Butcher, Young ruck. Rebuild complete
  19. Perfect time for a win. Gets the monkey off our back, keeps all media focus firmly on richmond and freo. We needed a early win to get the membership tally up to 30,000. I'm all for the 'list managment' approach too, but we really do have a fairly harsh run for awhile. 5.Crows (MCG) 6.Cats (MCG) 7.Eagles (Subi) 8.Bulldogs (MCG) 9.Hawks (MCG) 10.Saints (Gold Coast) 11.Magpies (MCG Q.B )
  20. Would love to see Zomer given a chance, but he really hasn't done much to prove himself. He would have to have a really good game tommorow to go ahead of Valenti.
  21. So because he wasn't drafted high then he is going to be a dud? Martin wasnt either. does that mean he is most likely to be a dud too? What about Aussie? Oh yeah Jake spencer was drafted after pick 80 so he is most likely to be a dud too, right? Might as well get Meeson in there! he was drafted in the top 10! that means he must be good. I love it how you think your gods gift to drafting, yet you state crap like this. Jurrah didn't nominate for the National Draft, so we have no idea where he actually would have gone.
  22. Ha! that sneaky bugger. I was so confused when i saw the edited post. I could have sworn Magic said that Garland was a dud!
  23. Jetta's little brother will go fairly high this year. Apprently he is the best of the Jets.
  24. Im a Tasmanian. And while i dont live there now, I will return to the state to raise a family and settle down. The demons will always be my number 1 team, but ill have a soft spot for Tassie and support them a lot, ill raise my kids to go for the Tasmanian side.
