Spencer has lost 11kg? That's terrible news!
Maybe we might see a very raw Fitzpatrick in the nab cup.
Would have preferred Martin played forward NAB Cup
Poor guy. Loved him as a player. Hope he can turn it around. Hasn't had a good run lately. My family live in Tassie and he got slammed in the paper on a weekly basis when coaching Tas Vfl.
Apologies Jaycee! I didn't mean for it to come across as a dig at the topic.
Its Moloney over Davey for next captain for me.
We have a heap of kids that will become great leaders in time, but they are all far too young.
Grimes seems to have taken over McLeans role as the young captain in making!
I've got no idea who could step up into the leadership group, and to be honest I highly doubt anyone on here spends enough time around the club to know who should be in the leadership group.
As a guess im going to say that Bate will be elevated into the leadership group.
Moloney for next captain until Grimes experienced enough to take over
No there not. You could say that about any player that didn't get drafted.
Everyone here is getting caught up with the hype of getting new players on the list.
The draft was weak. Probably the weakest its ever been. And these guys got overlooked.
What does that tell you?
I have been very surprised this year about how many posters on here got excited about Patricks highlights.
He would need a lot of work.
Thats a hell of a lot of kids who need game time.
This probably should be on the drafting board.
I think we will need another tall forward. Probably a crumbing forward (not a flanker)
I really cannot see that many gaping holes in our list anymore. We just need to develop the player we have drafted.
Agreed.
Scully, Trengove, Gysberts, Blease, Strauss, Tapscott. Watts has only played 3 games and is pretty much brand new too.
Thats a lot of kids that we have to get games into.
Next years trade week will be huge with GC17 coming in with a fair bit of cash and picks to trade.
We are going to in a good position to land a big fish. Our rise up the ladder next year will mean that more players will be keen to join us. We are only just paying the minimal salary cap at the moment, so will be able to rival GC17 in wages for a player. Will have some good rookies to promote and will be more willing to give up our higher draft picks especially with so many youngsters already competing for game time. And we are based in Victoria, which is much more appealing to a lot of players.
How long was Bartram's contract extended by?
1. Bell.
Although I don't really think he is at a "Crossroads." He has walked passed the crossroads and has been heading south for a long time now.
2. Miller.
Writing is on the door with only a one year extension on his contract.
3. PJ
Has not shown enough in previous years to warrant him staying on if he doesn't stand up in 2010.
This is my top 3, clearly Newton and Meeson are not required past 2010.
Bail will have to at least show something. Not bagging the guy out, because he could be up to it. But his contract will be out and he won't get the advantage that higher draft picks get of staying on the list for potential.
I disagree with Freak on Maric. While he has not shown much at the highest level yet, there would still be about 5 people delisted next year ahead of him.
Maric will be safe at the end of 2010. However I really hope to see a lot more from him this year. Because he hasn't shown anything to justify why he was rated highly as a junior.
I was reading an article about him the other day about how he is pretty much over his chronic fatigue and has to take ice baths as recovery.
Also has to have at least one day a week where he gets a massive sleep in!
This is a classic case of de ja vu. Everyone was saying "Who?" when we picked up Strauss last year.
I've watched some more of his highlights, Seems like he has all the time in the world and is an awesome decision maker.
Dishes off some super quick hand passes and is accurate with his small to medium length kicks. Long kicks and set shots for goal will need a lot of work.
Isn't quick but covers a lot of ground.
