Got some info on some of them thanks to BigFooty/Demonland/YouTube Ben Griffiths (Eastern Ranges/Vic Metro) – 198cm, 99kg He looks to have excellent pack and contested marking skills aided by his strong pair of hands overhead combined with his above average height and weight for a KF, attack on the contest, long arms and big vertical leap, as well as an absolutely thumping 60m right foot kick (including a very efficient set shot technique), above average pace for his height, good mobility and clean hands at ground level, very quick feeding ability coupled with good vision and timing. He also graduated from the AIS-AFL academy last year. Has got questions marks because he has been injured a fair bit recently. Demonland Thread Griffiths Matthew Panos (S.A)- 193cm, 80kg Leading goal kicker in championships. He's a smart player, he's good below his knees, and he's a good field kick as well as a good set shot. Reminds me of D.Bradshaw. Daniel Talia - 195cm, 80kg - 2 Oct 91 - Calder Cannons One of the best KPP's and the best defender in the draft IMO. Was named as the CHB in the Under 18's AA Team but the thing is he isn't just pinned down in that one position, he is very versatile and can be thrown around depending on situations. At 195cm he is very nice height but will probably need a little time to fill out. His athleticism is good for someone his height, ran under 3 seconds for 20m and 10.30 for 3km at the age of 17. Hard worker who doesn't give up once the ball hits the ground, is very composed with the ball and quick off the mark. Doesn't panic, more often than not makes the right decisions and disposal is very neat. Hands seem solid and attacks contests, not afraid to put his body on the line which is something important for a KPP. He hasn't really translated the talent into consistent performances. His Calder form has been up and down, that could be due to the chopping and changing of positions though. Finished off last year pretty well and showed some of that form in the champs this year. Demonland Thread - Talia Jake Carlisle (Calder Cannons) - 196cm (I think) Only started playing AFL recently. He has beautiful hands and is a very neat kick at goal and has a lot of development still in his body. He moves well and he is improving his skils at ground level and I see a huge upside in him. I just thought at this stage of the draft that the Demons should stockpile another key position player rather than continue to go for mids. Lewis Jetta - 178cm 72kg - Swan Districts (WA) Firstly, the drawbacks : (1) He is a mature age player turning 19 - 20 this year. (2) Slight build and only 180cm so projects as a wingman at AFL level (3) The interview with Lewis and his brother Graham suggested that he is a quiet kind of guy. The positives: (1) Pace and agility to burn and knows how to use it (2) Generally skillful and knows how to kick goals running at full tilt (3) Has been playing on the wing at WAFL level and doesn't seem to lack the endurance to play midfield full time. Demonland Thread - Jetta BigFooty Thread - Jetta Nathan Vardy (Gippsland Power) - 198cm 86kg Ruckman/KPP His leap and tap work at the stoppages was outstanding. He gave his little blokes an armchair ride got good hands and used the ball very effectively. One to watch come draft day. Grown to 201cm and must of put on 2 or 3 kg of pure muscle BigFooty Thread - Vardy

Was not a great season. I'm not writing him off though. Could have a good year next year, he will only ever be a 2nd ruck though.
-
We could pick up our KPF with this pick. Butcher/Panos/Carlisle/Grittiths. Others i think we may be interested in at 11 or 18 - Jetta, Ah Chee, Vardy

Good bye Brock. You have been my fave since you got drafted. It's a sad day to see you go. I always held out hope that you were going to live up to the expectations. you still might. and that will be very hard for me to watch. Im afraid I don't have this blind love for the club like everyone else seems to. Its players like yourself, Robbo, Woey and Whelan who made me really fall in love for the team. Not the club itself. I wish the best for yourself as a player, and most of me would really love to see you justify yourself as a big name like myself and a lot of other people on here have been saying you could be. But anpther part of me hopes, that you end up never reaching your full potential and we end up looking like the winners out of this deal, because it hurts pretty bad for it to end up any other way. I remeber Caro saying that some of the melbourne players were really upset by the way the melbourne coaching were clearly tanking and can't help thinking this was the fall out from it all.

Ill be keeping an eye on this kid.

Anyone own the latest version of powerpoint?

Hawks, Essendon, Melbourne. The 3 Victorian clubs that have a lot of indigenous players. I reakon we would be the third choice out of the three. Realisticly we would have to give up 18 + a player. Im not sure if im prepared to do that this year. Would be awesome to get him in the PSD.

if you stream the whole video its at the 21:45 min mark

The video wasnt up earlier, its up now. Go back to the site now. in the top right corner you can stream it in real media player, or windows media player.

There was an article recently on MFC.com that said that Scott West was now a full time coach at melb. just to clear that up.

hawks were interested in rivers last year. we said no.

Spencer is playing against much better opposition. But i can see where your coming from. He's got height, strength, speed and a decent kick for a big man. From that footage he really seems to know how to use his body weight. Something that we have been lacking from all our ruckmen for awhile. What is his confirmed height? might need to be a little bit taller to make a really good ruckman. Wouldn't mind picking him up as a KPF anyway. With the draft so shallow this year i reakon he will be taken higher than people expect. I reakon 3rd or 4th round.
-
I was hoping the hawk would win. Now it means that Carlton, Collingwood and Essendon are all in the finals. I would hate it if any of these teams were holding up the cup. Ill be going for the doggies.

Are you the person who was on here at draft time last year posting all the posts about trading potentially everyone to get Vickery?
-
I hope we are active in trade week. I would like to trade Miller and Bartram for upgraded picks please. Miller and our 3 round pick for Sydneys 2nd round. Id throw in Valentine if needed. Bartram and our 4th round pick for a third round pick. Hope we don't trade our first 3 picks.

If the question was asked this time last year i would have said 50/50. This year, no. Needed to stay injury free this year.
-
Wow. I really thought he would retire. Personally I was surprised when he was appointed captain at the start of the year. I really thought he would be playing a limited number of games to let the younger players get some game time. Im twice as surprised that he will be doing it all again next year. Guess ive turned into another one of the many, many people who have underated James McDonald.

Jamar has been living in Melbourne for almost 10 years, his life would be firmly in Victoria these days, He is finally the number one ruckman here. Why would he want to go back to S.A? And why Port? Why on earth would anyone want to play for Port? Surely if you wanted to go back to S.A you would want to play for the crows? Or is it because someone realised that Port don't have any ruckmen and realised that Jamar was from S.A, and put two and two together?
-
I've been thinking this myself. We will get an upgraded pick by about 7-8. Sydney will get Miller.
-
Is everyone forgetting Freaks call about Garry Ablett Jr.? He's a good player because he has a body shape that is hard to tackle! HA HA!
-
You really have to like the guy after reading that. Its a shame we have so many other types like him, we really need a inside mid with pace. If there is not room for him on our list, I really hope there will be a chance on another teams. Sydney have been interested apparently.
-
He's got another year left on his contract. So i guess he has one more roll of the dice. 5 years in and we haven't managed to get anything out of him yet. Not even showing signs that he could break out to be a good player.

prognostications- asperations- probobility factor
BAMF replied to fuchsia's topic in Melbourne Demons
Ohhh... so thats it! Got to admit, I found this really hard to read. -
Seeing that we have a lot of list cloggers who are still contracted for next year, delistings will be trickey. I would much rather trade Barts for an up-graded pick. eg. Bartram and our 3rd round pick for a 2nd round pick. Depends on who shows intrest. not much point doing that with the saints, but the Swans might be keen.
-
I doubt Carlton would go for that. But you never know. If they rate Scully that highly they might. I doubt that West Coast will get pick 1 anyway. In other rumour news - Was looking at Demonology, and our old mate Haydo reakons he has heard that Bartram has already requested to be traded. He is not happy under Dean Bailey. Apparently the Saints are keen as well as some other clubs.
