Those were the days when the jumper wasn't riddled with sponsor's logos. One sponsor logo and the VFL logo still leaves the red V on blue clearly defined.

I was in Shanghai about 10 years ago (an eternity in terms of Chinese development) and had a very good meal at M on the Bund. Has an amazing rooftop terrace overlooking the river and the huge buildings going up on the other bank. Run by an Aus expat. Wonder if it's still there. I remember Shanghai being a dynamic, international city with so much to experience. edit. Found a pic.

In the context of Jack Watts it's a break out year. At most other clubs it would be a good year. In a top 4 team absolutely it would be minimum standard. We fawn over him because he's finally playing well after 8 years at the club. I'd be pleased if he continued this improvement and became the genuine star that many fans currently think he is. There is still a long way to go before he reaches this level.

Where does Chris Dawes fit in all this?
Moonshadow replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Dawes and Pedo have very different skill sets. If we need a second ruck that can take a big mark and go forward or back, then it's Pedo. If we need a key forward who directs play, runs hard and takes the heat off Hogan and Watts, then Dawes is our man. Obviously it will also depend upon match ups each week. But at this (very early) stage, with Frost now playing well down back and Dawes holding his own in the forward line, Pedo might struggle to get back in. The musical chairs for big men in our team are quickly being taken and he is still standing. However, I do not like seeing Jack Watts pinch hitting in the ruck one bit. Going forward, the better teams like Sydney, Hawthorn and the Cats will be the real test for our big kpd's, not Collingwood. -
Why would he make his mind up 3-4 months before anything can be done about it? I would've thought it wiser to consider offers until September and then make a decision. What happens if he agrees with lowly team A in July and team B playing finals offers $200k more in Sept after creating cap space? Can't see the logic..... unless his manager is playing him.

Depends upon one's point of view Red. Carlton have won as many games as us this year and pantsed us last year. Their supporters might think differently.

That's not Bitters. Much too young. Might be his son though....

I've got 3 or 4 possible wins to come. But boy it would be good to knock off Hawthorn and/or Sydney. That would illustrate significant progress this year.

If Melbourne beats the Filth today he'll run amuck in Beijing this evening. You'll hear of his wereabouts from the shameful press coverage and you might be called to bail him out, perhaps hear his confession Reverend.

Hide all your credit cards Rev. And clense yourself this week in anticipation. Alcohol and Uncle Bitter are an explosive combination.

Collingwood or Hawthorn, definitely.

I've heard rumours through government intelligence agencies (yes, I know that's a foxymoron) that a senior Demonland dignitary has been arrested in China on suspicion of importation of hard drugs inside empty Shiraz bottles. Apparently the dozen bottles were full of Shiraz at Tulla airport but the wine must've vanished mid flight, replaced with condoms containing white powder upon inspection in Shanghai. Crack Chinese security police are trying to ascertain what happened to the Shiraz and where the condoms were 'harboured' before being stuffed into the bottles. Any guesses who? More later......

You missed SFA Mr Bent. Was only useful as a cure for insomnia.

Surely we are not going to do a Jack Watts to the Weed!

Hard to give Garlo the chop at year's end when he was re-signed not so long ago. And who'd want him in a trade?
-
Yeah nah. Jake Melksham 2017.

Let it never be said that you're not a risk taker Biff.

Carey's famous five: the next generation of AFL stars Has Jack Viney in there.

Think he was referring to Lumumba, Dunn, Garland, Grimes, etc

That sounds terrible. And to a young brain. We know so little about what this does long term. Hope he's better IT.

Blame Biffen. I do.
