FMD! We were rumoured (by nearly everyone) to have paid Mitch Clark between $500 and $600k about 4 years ago and WTF did that get us? I'd give TMac at least $550k for 4 years without a problem. By the end of the 4 years that will be close to the AFL average. Of course, like everyone here, I have no idea of the contract mix at the club so it's purely speculating. He has deficiencies which he is obviously working on, but IMO he will only get better.

You can board at BBOs house for a while when you get here. Might have to squeeze between he and his missus at night... and maybe an alpaca or 12. But he does have a good wine collection, the best goon bags money can buy.

I think Pickett's career was caught between an era where shirt fronts and crude tackles were OK and the beginning of cleaning up the game (read sanitising). Beyond his hard side, Pickett was a really good footballer when fit.

I mentioned in the game day thread that Oliver went up to the umpire just after the final siren to question Mathesen dropping his knees and lifting the arms in the tackle. The ump simulated the drop knees action and seemed to me to be indicating that the drop action was before the tackle rather than during. It's likely to become a habit because it's being rewarded.

Give him some time. I'm sure Roos and Goodwin see more and know him better than us punters. If we cut every key position player who struggled in their first 10 games we'd only have a bunch of mids playing. Whilst he made some poor decisions and turned the ball over a few times, his opponent (Schache) was kept to SFA. Isn't that an important KPI for a big backman?
