  1. Obviously I do not know Tayla Harris at all, but you get the feeling that she loves just being a part of the forward line rather than having to carry the whole thing. When she was at Carlton there was so much focus on her and if she didn’t play well they were no chance to win. To a certain extent she was the face of that club that then became toxic. It says so much of their culture that so many good players have left the Carlton AFLW side while NONE have left ours. Coming to us and being mentored by Daisy has worked out so well for both her and this team. She is only 26 and could easily play well into her 30’s. She has found her home
  2. Given how much fun it is to watch this current Melbourne side play - the chains of handballs out of the backline, through the corridor and then a pass to a leading forward. Women’s footy has come such a long way in such a short time. I wonder what the score would be if this Melbourne side could play the original one?
  3. Mackin in, Gay out (managed). Bannon must have recovered. https://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/1436062/round-4-team-mackin-set-for-debut
  4. Will be interesting to see who makes way for Aimee. Sheriff perhaps?
  5. 6. Hanks. A joy to watch play the game 5. Hore 4. Purcell 3. McNamara 2. Chaplin. Of our backs I feel the most relaxed when she has the ball 1. Pearce. Think her tap work is actually going to a new level.
  6. After last nights torture and disappointment I am looking forward to a (hopefully) straight forward win
  7. Good call, I had forgotten about Colvin. It will be interesting to see how A. Mackin progresses too. Could be a wild card for later in the season
  8. Paxy in, yay. Aside from missing Fitzsimmons I don’t think we could get any stronger
  9. And I’ll have one of these too
  10. Hanks has that Pendlebury at his peak, time slows down thing. You just know when she has good things will follow. Favourite player
  11. Is this going to be our first game that Melbourne has played without Paxman in red and blue?
  12. Great post DiO. Do you think the McClelland is worth a topic in itself? Could keep an eye on it during the next ten weeks. Shades of the Death riding Freo thread having the Pies, Port and Brissy all lose this weekend was handy.
  13. Love that Rivers and Kozzie are signed all the way till the end of 2027, where they will have each reached be the ripe old age of 26 years old!
  14. 1. Hore 2. Hanks 3. Purcell 4.Heath 5. Bannan 6. Harris
  15. That third quarter by us was the champagnyest of champagne football. And against a side that is expected to challenge for a top 4 spot. We were a class or two above.
  16. Schleicher is a decent out for them. Two time all Australian defender, Collingwood VC and first choice to play on Tayla Harris. Will also be interesting to see if they play Bri Davey after being close to not playing with hamstring issues. If we kick straight we will win this. PS I am really looking forward to the game. There seems to be something more authentic about women’s footy.
  17. Dirty talk!! Love it!
  18. Whately the other day described Parish as a “nice footballer and that’s about it”. He also said that Parish’s management need to have a long, hard look at themselves if they are advising him to knock back the reported 5 years @ $650,000 I agree and don’t want him at the Dees on that sort of contract
  19. At pick 73 Larkey has to be one of the all time best draft pick ups
  20. If we had a tagger that shut down a Daicos or Neale we would be lauding them. I don’t have a problem with McGuinness trying to blanket Clarry for 3 qtrs. I am not sure if Goodwin would make the same comments again but it was great to see him deviate out of the ‘trained incredibly hard’, ‘I’m incredibly proud’ cliches for a moment.
  21. Exceptional circumstances here Spalding. You must be really proud. Maybe support the Hawk AFLW side during the home and away and come back to the Dees if the Hawks don’t make finals?
  22. 14 of the 17 other captains voted Melbourne to go back to back this season. Get on board Demonlanders. You know it makes sense!
  23. Jeepers! Stefan Martin was Max’s ruck partner that day. That does feel like a long time ago
  24. https://www.afl.com.au/aflw/video/1015836/free-the-demons-how-melbourne-turned-pressure-into-a-premiership?videoId=1015836&modal=true&type=video&publishFrom=1692612300001 Best ever!
