  1. Mini rant coming up Yesterday the AFL announced the dates for next years SA Gather Round. This is at a time when the AFLW season is yet to be finalised, even though the players are in pre-season training and the first game is slated to start in just over two months. Imagine being an AFLW player who has a second job but you can’t tell your employee what days you’ll need off (no fixture) or how many (no fixture length). They also don’t know how much they’ll be paid let alone the type of finals system they’ll be playing under After not even having a ground booked for the Grand Final last season you’d think the AFL may have been shamed into getting their [censored] together but unfortunately no. There is now even talk of a players strike if this isn’t sorted soon https://www.abc.net.au/news/2023-06-10/lack-progress-expanded-schedule-threat-aflw-strike/102465960 and you can understand the frustration Pull your finger out AFL and treat the comp and these women with the respect they deserve
  2. Oh wow! That’s a serious leap he has on him
  3. FWIW Cal Twomey said the other day that the Demons were keen to keep James Jordon. Given we are a professional, well run club these days and he probably doesn’t want to leave, but is just looking for more playing opportunities I’d be surprised if he left.
  4. I know what you mean, but if Green comes to the club over Tyson then the sliding doors thing means we probably don’t get Oliver and Petracca in future years. Did we actually have the chance to get Green anyway?
  5. We get 3 ten* day breaks in a row. Other clubs get a longer single break than we do but we have longer breaks than them either side of the bye. Surely the Club can design a program that will maximise these 3 long breaks. Who knows, if we are smart it could be an advantage * or nine depending on your outlook
  6. That’s ok, I don’t know what All duck, no dinner means or why it annoyed Collingwood
  7. I was, and still are, Robbie’s biggest fan. But even I forget how good he was. Before you are allowed to join Demonland you should have to watch the collection of Flower videos. It should also be remembered that most of his best highlights were never captured as he played in a team that rarely featured in replays. Still the best Melbourne player I have seen

Sadly for Rhys-Jones he will be primarily remembered by the footy public as a thug. Having been in front of the judiciary 25 times in his career, he is the most reported player player in history. He would just snap. However he was also supremely talented; quick, agile and skilful. He kept Brereton goalless in the ‘87 Grand Final and won the Norm Smith.
  9. JVR has bit of the early years Petracca strut about him. Love it! Also love that he is wearing the #2. Will do it proud
  10. Before everyone goes Tomlinson there is nothing he can do when the ball comes in lace out. I thought he was ok ish
  11. They both scream cult figure. Watching Casey games Sestan has the ability to do the extraordinary. It may not happen every quarter but it is fun to watch when it does. Someone here also stated that he is already the best kick in the team. Verrall is big, mobile, coordinated and can kick. This observation is on the one game I watched of him but pretty much anyone could have seen the kid has talent.
  12. HTF Salem walked straight into the senior side without finding form at Casey has me stumped. He is timid and has zero hurt factor
  13. We were beaten by the better side on the day
  14. We could actually win the whole bloody thing this year, while Taylor sets us up for the next decade with picks 4, 18 and 22. Get excited Sue.
  15. To be fair most players get sacked. Very few get to leave on their own terms.
  16. That is unbelievable! Unique. I have never seen a goal like that in 50 odd years of watching footy
  17. Yes he is their Nathan Jones
  18. That’s brilliant! Such a mum thing to do
  19. The last two decades of #1 draft picks from 2002 are Goddard Cooney Delidio Murphey Gibbs Kruezer Watts Scully Swallow Patton Whitfield Boyd McCartin Weitering McGrath Raynor Walsh Rowell Ugle-Hagen Horne-Francis and Cadman If you redrafted these drafts now bugger all of the #1 picks would go #1 again. Who knows, perhaps Harley Reid is different, but I’d rather back Taylor to pick his 3 best in the top 25 rather than just the one shiny bloke who is currently at the top
  20. Melbourne V Richmond luck scoreboard. Umpires had a shocker - Demons 0 Tigers 2 Richmond were without their key forward and one of the pre-season Coleman favourites in Tom Lynch. Their first ruck in Nankervis, second ruck in Soldo. Also Nathan Broad, a 3 time premiership player, Jack Graham 2 time premiered player and 2nd in the Tigers B & F and up and coming Key defender in Josh Gibcus. We were close to full strength - Demons 5 Tigers 0 We can’t whinge as overall we won the luck scoreboard 5-2.
  21. Ok, so that was disappointing. Let’s look at the positive though and work out who would be good to pinch from Gold Coast.
  22. True, but there is a spring in my step every time those [censored] lose. And I have been pretty springy stepped for a good decade now
  23. I’m surprised there are supporters of any club who don’t hate them. The performance enhancing drug regime of 2012 was cheating at its worst. The fact that James Hird never took any responsibility for for the scheme, the fact that both supporters and the Essendon hierarchy at the time felt they were hard done by and the fact that there are 34 players and ex players wandering around today STILL not knowing what that Club put into their bodies is a disgrace. I would have kicked them out of the competition And yeah, for us, there is also the out and out thuggery of the 2000 GF
  24. Honestly Tomlinson was unlucky to be dropped. Definitely deserves another shot. The backline will miss Lever but will be fine
  25. ATTENTION DEMONLANDERS. We are all officially in the absolute sweet spot of supporting this club. We can peruse top 5-10 draft talent while ALSO being a realistic chance at a flag. It wont get any better than this for us.
