Your Top 5 Demons Players of All Time
FarNorthernD replied to Craig Drinker's topic in Melbourne Demons
Robbie Flower Clarrie Oliver David Schwartz Allen Jakovich Brett Lovett -
We were at 26,751 members this time in 2013. At 52,738 we are literally twice the club now to what we were then. And whilst the season still hasn’t even started, we have already passed our FINAL membership tally of every year of our existence aside from 2021 and ‘22.

They lost me at “With exceptional ball users in Petracca, Oliver, Viney, Angus Brayshaw” without mentioning Bowey. The problem with most footy commentators is they don’t know as much about each team players as that’s team’s supporters, particularly the passionate ones who would inhabit places such as this.

2023 AFLW Trade Period
FarNorthernD replied to Dees_In_October's topic in AFL National Women's League
Reading about the exodus of players Carlton on the AFL site. I didn’t realise the we got Tayla Harris plus pick 44 and gave them pick 32 back. That’s an out and out steal. But wait there’s more! We used pick 44 (that became 42) to get …….. Tahlia Gillard. Has to be the AFLW, all time draft steal!!- 100 replies

Bloody hell. Huge getting Grundy. Great job. Can’t wait to listen
-
As Grundy was kicking his goal at the end of the first one of the commentators said that Grundy had “poured bit of a bucket on Craig McRae and Collingwood”. Does anyone know what he said?
-
Not sure if it has been mentioned here but I thought ANB was really good.
-
I always like to see Melbourne win but, if I have a choice, I’d rather the team finish the game injury free.
-
That’s better than what I was expecting. Roughly 3,500 up on this time last year, fresh off winning the flag. Also 15,000 ahead of our FINAL figure from 2013. We have come a long way in ten years.

I hope so much this catches on across the league. It could kill betting advertising in the comp.

2023 AFLW Trade Period
FarNorthernD replied to Dees_In_October's topic in AFL National Women's League
Blumin hell Brisbane along with Wardlaw, the competitions leading goal scorer from last season, have also lost: Emily Bates. Premiership player, AFLW Best & Fairest, 3 X Brisbane B & F, 3 X All Australian, Coaches player of the year, Player most Valuable etc and Greta Bodey. Premiership player, All Australian and Brisbane leading goal scorer S6 Apparently they are both going to Hawthorn who were reportedly the only team with Tier 1 spots up for grabs. If we can stay hungry and United we would have to now be clear favourites for this years flag. -
2023 AFLW Trade Period

Wardlaw (Bris) to Saints Woodland (Ade) to Port Ade In theory it should make our two biggest competitors slightly weaker. Molloy (COL) to the Swans can’t be a bad thing either. Let’s hope we remain relatively unscathed. -

Welcome to Demonland Will Verrall
FarNorthernD replied to Whispering_Jack's topic in Melbourne Demons
After yesterday’s handy efforts in the match sim i thought I’d highlight what Tony Bamford, the South Australian U18 coach had to say about Will ”Because at his best, Will Verrall is as good as (Harry) Barnett. So (AFL) clubs are doing some work on Will Verrall now based on what he did as a 17-year-old, knowing it was at a really high level.” The Harry Barnett that he is talking about was considered the best ruck prospect in the draft and who went to West Coast at pick 23. Also interesting to note that when asked to describe himself in one word Will answered with ‘mobile’. A young, mobile, 200cm interstater. Sounds vaguely familiar ….. Edit Draft Combine results Running vertical jump: Equal 3rd (90cm) 20m sprint: 3.05 seconds -
GAMEDAY: Match SIM Melbourne vs St. Kilda
FarNorthernD replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
I didn’t get the email from Kayo to activate the voucher. I assume you didn’t either. I had to ring the membership and they fwd to me. -
Sorry in advance for being a tech philistine Has anyone else signed up to the $229 Kayo membership offer?. I have just signed up through the club website and not sure where to go from here. Sort of figured there would be prompts to get me access to Kayo but there isn’t. Any suggestions? I have an inactive Kayo account

Why isn’t the fixture equal?

Death Riding Fremantle 2023 - Feathered Cap Edition
FarNorthernD replied to adonski's topic in Melbourne Demons
Says here $900,000 for 7 years (2029). It’s a lot to pay a bloke who still won’t be the best ruck in his team or the best forward. Still think he would have been a better match for West Coast where he could have succeeded Nic Nat https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/teams/fremantle-dockers/afl-news-2022-luke-jackson-trade-request-to-fremantle-how-melbourne-and-dockers-can-get-deal-done-brodie-grundy-demons-sean-darcy-contract/news-story/7661437b1dba42a305f9882305c2399b -
In bit of a sliding doors moment JVR would have come into the side if Brown didn’t come back from ‘knee soreness’ in Rnd 20. This was from one of the coaches

A few thoughts here Like everyone here I was surprised to see Duffy was delisted. Doubly interesting as it could be argued that our one true hole in our list is a crafty small forward. Duffy, at her best, would fit the bill very nicely. You’d assume Daisy would retire so who fills those gigantic shoes - Birch? Hore? Duel Captains? The way Harris has embraced the Demon Spirit and the team, perhaps she could be in the leadership group. Rhi Watt must be a pretty special human. To come in as a newbie, not play a game and still win the club spirit award is extraordinary. I remember there was some angst from the Stkilda playing group when she was delisted from there. One of the players got on social media and said that any club that picked her up would be making a bloody good decision. I’m stoked we did.

TRAINING: Monday 5th December 2022
FarNorthernD replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Wonder if there will be a report that doesn’t have to follow the name Joel Smith with the words ‘light duties’ or ‘rehab group’? Drafted in 2016 next season will be his 7th AFL season for 28 games. Hope the poor bugger is luckier in love that he is with injuries. -
Yes I agree she has been our best player over the past 7 seasons
