  1. Don't believe this at all. There wasn't too much wrong with our structure bar the ongoing issue we have going forward. If you compare the four previous games with yesterday, it's clear that the players did not have the intensity to hunt the ball carrier which has become a bit of a trademark of ours this season. We're not ready to put teams to the sword yet because we don't have a forward structure that works. That means that if our intensity drops off through the middle (like yesterday) we have the potential to be beaten by anyone.
  2. What? So the supporters and media can devour another coach? I think Roos provides the perfect cover for Goodwin. It was a bad loss on the weekend, granted, but this season has only just begun.
  3. 6 - Viney 5 - Watts 4 - T Mcdonald 3 - N Jones 2 - Gawn 1 - Oliver
  4. I feel for this bloke. When he's just an average player, he doesn't have what it takes. When he steps up to the plate, it's all the work of a coach.
  5. Stretch is too lightly framed for the midfield just yet. Garlett can give us something through there but I think he'd only be used when everything else has been tried. I can't imagine JKH playing too many games unless we take a fair hit with injury. Kent is a definite option through the middle as is Harmes.
  6. Langdon should watch a couple of games of footy before he picks his top 50. Selwood at 34??
  7. I think those five tigers are worthy of top 50 status. It's depth that has always hurt the tiges. Nathan Jones is very stiff not to make it, even with the slightly down year he had.
  8. Reads like a kid wrote it - a demon-supporting kid at that.
  9. If a guy runs in backwards, has a seizure, flips out and kicks at 69%, his technique is better than the guy who runs in upright keeps his eye on the ball and hits 60%. If all we do is accept one traditional way of executing a skill, we shut out the growth in our sport. What evidence is there that Hogan's technique is not better than others, is there anything other than it looks a bit funny??
  10. Big call. Let's make our way from useless to mediocre before we go calling 'dynasty.'
  11. Not as cynical as some. Pederson will get a week, Cameron two.
  12. Watts is a useful contributor, most criticism of him is ridiculous and based on nothing more than aesthetics. He's no world-beater, but he's a valuable player on our list.
  13. Just mentioned on triple M....interchanges:131 to 82 - Won't be able to do that in-season.
  14. My goodness, I've not ventured off the football topics before! I naively thought that all Dees supporters were slightly troubled Tony Abbott hating types like myself. Feels like I've been re-routed to the comments section of Andrew Bolt's blog!
  15. Wow! Climate change denialists, right here on demonland! 'Tis like finding a T-rex in the backyard.
  16. Sam Blease had a poor attitude and work ethic. Not sure his case is a valid predictor of Jayden's chances.
  17. hahaha... you must lead a pretty happening life.
  18. I have no problem with Watts. Sure, he's not the world-beater we wanted when we drafted him, but I still think he's a valuable contributor. I think there's a little too much focus on the aesthetic with Jack Watts. He doesn't throw his body around as much as others, but he finds a way to win his fair share of contests by being smart and nimble. For all the talk about Hawthorn's small/medium forwards, I'd still take Watts over either Gunston or Breust, who perform well as cherry-pickers in a proven and effective system. Watts is more flexible and has shown something in a system that has proven to be ineffective.
  19. Went for B based solely on someone mentioning that King and Hulett expected to be rookied. This suggests we were hoping others were available at those picks, so didn't go exactly as planned. Pumped with Oliver and really hopeful Wiedeman can stay uninjured, get fit and deliver on the raw talent he has.
  20. I still think we'll go for two midfielders. Taylor's interview suggests to me that Parish is a lock at 3. Are Mathieson and Oliver the only other mid options for 7??
