  1. I reckon Stretch looks at home in the seniors. He goes missing a bit but once around the ball, his efforts are good and he doesn't seem rushed at all.
  2. I reckon Vince's offensive game is benefiting from having Gawn in the ruck. And yeah, he's playing well.
  3. Totally, our midfield is made to look so much better with Gawn there. Would love to see hitouts to advantage stats since he's come in.
  4. If you took that evidence and applied that outcome in every case, there wouldn't be one player in the AFL.
  5. There's no disputing his improvement, Song and it's good to see.
  6. Going to throw my two cents in after the bell. 6. Jones 5. Gawn (a few mistakes but I feel his influence on the success of our midifield is exciting - we have an actual ruckman!) 4. Vince 3. Brayshaw (we'd seen the toughness, but his decision-making was fantastic!) 2.Cross (didn't realise the old fella had such strong hands!) 1. Viney (boy is tenacious!)
  7. I thought he did more good things than bad MC. His ruckwork was exceptional at times and his positioning seemed pretty good. FWIW, I think Gawn allowed our midifeld to get on top today and while I think you're right about his tank, I reckon he's the long-term option for us and we should continue to throw him in the deep end.
  8. Yeah, you're always going to have turnovers. They are the main scoring avenue of most teams, however, it's those 4 or 5 really bad ones that hurt you.
  9. Let's just call him 'the business.' https://youtu.be/AqZcYPEszN8
  10. But he's always playing that dual role old dee. Happy to stand corrected but I don't think he's ever gone in as our only ruckman. I've got an inkling he might be a bit like Stef Martin in this regard - was no good playing second fiddle but throw him in the deep end and he responds.
  11. I've been waiting for Gawn to get a crack as lone ruck. Praying that Spencer is left out. He's been ok but I reckon Max will respond to the bigger responsibility.
  12. Amen to this. I would also add, for those who think that calling someone an ape/monkey is fine/excusable that these sorts of comments have a history, with a lot of old "common science" pointing to the physical traits of indigenous people as being more primitive/less evolved, none of which ever held any water and were essentially authorised racism. When someone says these things, it is a re-application of these horrible views. Ignorance on behalf of the person saying it is not an excuse.
  13. Spot on. Riley and Viney fill the same role, they've decided Viney is better - I support that. You can't replace Bail or Jones, both run-with players who were successful in that role last week, with Riley, who doesn't have the tank nor pace to fill that role. Team balance and - as you've alluded to, the oppostion - are crucial in team selection. I think they've picked the right side, although with Ryder out we may an adjustment down back.
  14. I've got a feeling that Gawn is similar to Stef Martin in that he responds to responsibility. I'd love to see him as our lone ruckman and see how he goes. Even after the weekend, I'm not sold on Spencer - the Bulldogs have a serious issue in the ruck and he capitalised but I don't expect it to continue. Of course, I hope I'm wrong.
  15. I wouldn't leave Riley out, especially given the fitness cloud over all three of those ins.
  16. This. Without injury, I can't see how you give him a game in the ones. You've got to drop Jamar or Gawn don't you?
  17. Neeldy was fired at about this point wasn't he? Hiring and firing coaches won't achieve much.
  18. hahaha...Dawes isn't playing well but c'mon...Jesse White? That's a low blow.
  19. This has not happened before - I tend to agree with every single thing above.
  20. Agree wholeheartedly, there were a few poor defensive efforts from Michie.
  21. Don't think you can blame his leg injuries on the captaincy. But in all seriousness, why are we referring to them as if they did a bad job? Look at that list, along with everything else that underpinned that list (coaching panel, board, cash flow etc.). Do you think that if we'd chosen different captains, Trengove would not have been injured? or Grimes would be a better kick? Personally, I think it's all a bit far-fetched.
