I saw Lucas play in person. I mention this every time this convo comes up but here we go. At north Ballarat, He played very well. Lead up and around the wing/F50 area. Delivered at least 4 solid I50's which resulted in 2 goals. and kicked probably around 2 goals himself. His foot skills and marking was a stand out. This is reportedly his best game. I also liked what i saw of him on TV on a couple of occasions. Lets be serious here, he is younger than watts with 2 less years in the system. wait until he is 22 then judge imo. Mission, Craig and Neeld will sort his body out then we will see Cook imo

OH GOD....one lose and it all comes back out haha

Malthouse is very outspoken yes, but i think what he said is somewhat there. People need to relax, Mick gets paid (very well) to talk the way he does, he has opinions, and they arnt that scathing. He was talking about the difference between Watts being Good great or GREAT imo. everyone knows he will be good, just how good is the point mick wants to know. He questioned watt's desire, many of us say he needs to look more urgent ect, very similar criticisms imo. When you do all the hard things, the 1% its obvious you want "IT", on the weekend Watts looked a little off, he still has all the skills but until he pushes himself right to the limit every week he will be holding himself back. Malthouse is giving him a slight wake up call, i think Watts can do with this to keep motivating him. He said himself though that the only feedback he will take on board seriously is that of Neeld and the Football departments. And they will be telling him these things too. I am more than happy with Watts as a 20yo, cant wait to be watching him run around in 2-3 years time......will be amazing

He went home under the proviso he was dealing with personal and tribal issues. How is it his fault at this stage that he is arrested? as reported he may just be aiding police. give me a break mate, and get a life -

The OX said that Cam would only come on if he had confirmation of the incident in question even though he was booked for other reasons. Guess he doesnt have confirmation yet. Still believe this will be a much smaller incident and feel know reason to fret as yet. I think liam is a smart guy all together -
Who will be our elite 5 for the 2014 Demon flag?

I think a similar event may be where Selwood finished in his second year? i dont know edit - in his second season, in a team that won a premiership the year prior and year after..... But we all know the point you were making, all depends how good any players season is that finishes 5th -

May also be why Neeld always says, we can elevate 2 rookies, Gawn aand Veteran.... never says 3?? -
what?

Also maybe the MCG has rights for cricket all the way up until round 1, with the cricket pitches in there atm, that is why it isnt being used yet. Although the Tri series final is in a few days, so cricket will be over yeah??? no more games for a while if i recall correctly

Watts Frawley Trengove Sylvia Grimes -
Yeah Neeld saying he was happy we could stick to the game plan i remember, even when they kicked a few. this is the key
-
I was honestly one of them i reckon, wouldnt have said 5 years or 3 but definitely thought it would take Neeld longer than 1 off season to change our structures. very happy to admit i was wrong, and even happier that we are playing better football.
-
I know, it is still early days and once the season starts we will know alot more. But i think it is showing now that being hard at the contest and working hard off the ball gets results. hard work in general. I think the commentators even mentioned that our zone seemed hard to break down......wow didnt expect this so early in all honesty
-
Now i will start by saying i am taking my argument to the extreme but i think it will make for a good topic atm. How easy is this game? On the weekend we played a pretty good Collingwood outfit who smashed us big time last year, yes we can all take what we want from this game, this is not the point. What has changed in the last 6 months which meant we can do this? after all everyone who played on the weekend, baring a couple of rookies ect played last year. The Coach? yes but what else? The game plan changed. and two things in particular imo. We won the contested possession and we completed far more pressure acts than previously? Is this how easy football is? win your own ball, pressure and tackle your opposition and win the one on one contests? 3 years ago it was all skill ect ect running yadda yadda. but if you put the pressure on like Collingwood do and the good teams do then the skilful game is not as relevant, people make mistakes. win your own ball and move it fast and long gets results. Thoughts?

Practice how you play
-
He missed most of the U18 season, so slipped, it has now re-occured. Has definate ability
-
He deserves all the criticism he gets over the weekend, 3 touches is nothing. I wouldnt say he is that far off what he should be, he has shown us where he is heading with a number of his performances last year. Still wouldnt take Nat or Hurley ahead of him, honest truth.

I dont think round one did much for our game plan. We want to hug the boundary kick long and be "hard at the stoppages". The Out of bounds rule didnt allow us to get the stoppages we want imo. If we were able put theb all out more often looking for the boundary we could have held alot more possession. Maybe this will be more evident next week?
-
He adds some X factor especially as a big man imo I just dont think i would want him down back for the same reasons you probably dont like him forward, is a bit awkward.... but if he clicks then wow
-
Was clearly better than that, wasnt amazing but played better than expected, and better than 25 other demons
