WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JACK VINEY
Jordie_tackles replied to einstein251's topic in Melbourne Demons
I dont know if it is worth its own thread but, the eagles are starting a father son academy, getting them all in to give them advice, training ect http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/eagle-keep-sons-of-champs-in-nest/story-e6frf9jf-1226258715166 This is what it has become, develop talent which is yours, like soccer ect, if you can turn more father sons into better draft picks and players earlier its a huge WIN I dont know how much longer the AFL will do this...maybe ages maybe not, but it does compromise the draft and some clubs benefit more than others We dont have an academy,we are obviously on top of Viney once we committed, but can we gain more from others? -
All is hush hush WYL dont worry about that, i have speculated on many companies anyway haha never been right
-
yeah i left it for these reasons, as much as i hate not having a sponsor i find guessing who it is a big game of celebrity heads haha
-
Is it wrong to speculate on which company Russian works for? i think i got it

AFL Free Agency Meeting today
Jordie_tackles replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Hopefully the players also feel a cultural change under Neeld, they will realise that the MFC is more serious imo, when combined with on field success it should be a good formula to convince players (in their own opinion) that we are close to gaining the ultimate prize -
AFL Free Agency Meeting today
Jordie_tackles replied to Sir Why You Little's topic in Melbourne Demons
Free agency will be a bitter sweet pill to swallow in my opinion. It will allow players who are unhappy to get to the club of there choice which is great for them, nobody should be forced to work a job they dont enjoy. Some clubs will lose players, but they will get compensated for it, yeah i know, but also it will allow clubs like us to recruit the next "mitch Clark" and take the next step. Lets just hope we use it well, and are successful enough to avoid any major hickups Deledio saying he wants to play finals ect is the big one, players who have not played finals often for the majority of the careers will wont to and who can blame them...... we need to offer this -
Just a quick advertisement for all the SC junkies, Bigfooty will be doing similar things this year. The top league will be competing against the other boards for aa championship which will be fun, If anyone is keen get over and have a look http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/showthread.php?t=903115&page=6 Thanks

Yeah this is true, anything is better than nothing, even when people are argueing no one will care about MFC's sponsor on it own, but yes

An an article on the back page of the SUN, would have a big picture of Trenners with this new logo on his breast, BIG WIN, having your image printed on 500,000 papers across VIC
-
How can a guy who openly states he doesnt want to join a club be considered for captain 2 years later? thats it. forcing players to be somewhere would be degenerative to a situation imo.
-
WAs it us or him? I thought it was reported that he was heavily against going anywhere bare Collingwood.... yaddayadda bad times if happens?
-
Mcdonald at 56 or what ever could be the best pick of all also
-
I agree 100%, I think what Neeld is doing is great, if his game plan works after next pre-season we should be looking good for a big 2013 push into the 8 ( i mean deep). Also 3 first round picks will go along way to strengthening our list in any area Neeld feels after 1 year in charge.
-
The number of players still on our list from between 02 till now suggest our drafting was poor. This is with Bate and Dunn both first rounders being on shaky ground
-
One it all depends on darling being a KPF, alot of clubs can use this, Port, Adelaide, North, Carlton, Sydney, Dogs, Brisbane, Saints Similarly teams could use a 190ish cm medium tall, Port, Adelaide, North, Geelong, Saints, Carlton, Sydney, Dogs, Brisbane, Goldcoast, Hawthorn Not just aus and Carlton imo, every club could use a darling type player but chose not to, apart from Collingwood who didnt have the chance
-
That is positive, although i would believe facebook is an indication of our younger supporters, (no offence to anyone) and as we have such a traditionally older membership this seems to be backed up with the facebook figures. Us being 20K and North 2nd lowest 33K ( not counting GWS, GC is higher than us also....) Just really thought it pointed at us having the older generation, who support us well now, will we be able to fill out a stadium in 20 years? ect

Training - Friday 27th January, 2012
Jordie_tackles replied to Angelus BTVS's topic in Melbourne Demons
Disagree JV is worth around a pick 3-4, apparently Would we have risked pick one on Morobito? A kid called Lachie Whitfield is meant to be all this and more, as one kid is every year but still, would you risk pick 1 for the sake of it? I do think someone will force our hand but most likely not GWS...... depending on where we finish -
I think you are missing that first round isnt a clubs first selection, it is any selection in the first 16 now 18 picks in any draft. edit 1 per team * Hence bring, Gysberts, Grimes and Trengove into calculations, as well as Blease PP between first and second round, Strauss start of second round by 1 pick, as was Tapscott all capable of playing mids and all top 20 picks. 3 mids being "first round" and 6 in total being top 20 picks.

Not at all, but Watts was our only up and coming quality KPP at this stage, you need more than one KPP obviously. we were taking the long outlook so took the young player Cook also to develop. I think Bailey was alwasy content with where Watts was at. although, when you bank picks it can bite you RF. do you think Richmond thought that Tabling Fiora and others were going to fail after 2 years? i doubt it, but for high picks they were worse than Morton for example
