This issue has been rolling around in my head alot lately, well mainly after watching us in the first 2 rounds and realising we will have around pick 4 which is what Viney is rated at...... Anyway, what happens if like all years someone like Lachie Whitfield who is an absolute J-E-T slides down a few picks.... or is in our pick mix, we are still locked into taking Viney when atm Whitfield is a clear number one and Viney is just a top 5 prospect. Will we end up disadvantaging ourselves?
-
He is the type of player you would love, but he is 27 next month, so 3 years service may be all he can offer. Which isnt a problem but the price would need to be right. It would need to be a pick around 10 and something....which wont satisfy the Saints, only because at this stage our first pick is viney and the next pick will be about 5-6 which i think will get us a great 10 year player which is 3X as much value. This then opens up the question, how much is a leader worth to the MFC, and will this go a long way to changing the culture at our club? then the value changes.

We have managed to miss some picks looking back, getting good players with top ten picks is easy enough. getting the 100% best player at your pick is another thing to get right.

It is growing on me, and wont stand out when it isnt as glossy. Hopefully Reach still finds some space on the back of our jumper this week

Leigh Matthews does not rate Mitch as forward
Jordie_tackles replied to deemad's topic in Melbourne Demons
Gary Lyon bringing up that Hudson was dropped, then points out that he was meant to be a better recruit than Clark according to Leigh Mathews hahahaha nice work Gaz -asked it as a question to, without really making the big deal about it, just with a soft tone in his voice......made me quite happy "wasnt he meant to be a better recruit than Mitch Clark?" -
Now for the real question, what deals will us members get offered? Could be goooood haha
-
Website already updated, dont mined the big banner, but agree the colour doesnt suit our red on the jumper.....but them the apples who cares edit and the link http://www.melbournefc.com.au/

He will call every company in the whole country will he? another option would be asking him yourself if it is such an issue?
-
Only took 24hrs also, 1 year deal with an option for another 2. No word of Eddie, Webjet called Cameron Schwab and it was done in a day. Good news
-
I doubt Cameron Schwab would change his tack just because Eddie comes up wit ha sponsor for us. Yeah its nice, but i honestly think it would be a previous contact who has been pushed over the edge buy a recent situations, Jim ect, then EW and now the public spotlight it WILL bring. Cam has a very certain view on these things from what i gather, he wants to secure our future with big, long term deals, im sure he could have signed a number of companies recently for less than what he wanted and valued our image at, Kaspesky ect were at a discount rate. I will be disappointed if we have lowered our focus due to EW dropping out, not to take the gloss off any announcement which i am sure will be in the major benefit to MFC.

He is a 3rd or 4th tall.......not a KPF at all, he is a Howe type play, or an old Bate type
-
Sounds like the second coming of christ......sure there isnt a little bit of Carey in him also?

I agree wit ha few sentiments that we should go after a real bonafide star through FA, but there are only an handful of these types, and they would have to be under 26imo to want such a move, you would be giving up a minimum of 2 years of your career in all honesty before you can see the pinnacle. Who would want such a move? and how much would it cost? my bet is more than what Clark cost, maybe that is obvious i Think that we just need to go out this season and find the best kids, Viney heading this with zero experience worries me, i love the guy but we will have 3 picks under 12 *roughly at this rate and we dont have a qualified recruiter at the club? 3 mids like this should come on within 3 years..... yeah i know but that is how it is. Maybe go after Dangerfield if he doesnt cost the world, he is young yes but he is earmarket as a leader at Adelaide and if he want the move home i think he could be close to the type of player we want. Also it may simply take the players fully buying into Neeld the person and the game plan. Once this happens you will get alot more from the playing group. It ma just be a case of the plan clicking and then confidence will grow. We are so early in the year, and i have jumped around a bit, it is just hard to explain why we havnt gone anywhere, first under Bailey, more so under Neeld because the players are learning new ideas on the game and plans ect..........
-
One of the most damning things is how players like Bate, Dunn, Sylvia and to a lesser extent Mclean have failed to develop after coming in during our last few years in finals 04-06 and looked very promising. They havnt developed like we wanted, expected, like the really should have, and now we lack the senior players that would be leading the club atm........
-
The game changed, we cant get away with bruise free run and carry football through the corridor. people said it was dangerous then, now if you turn it over in the middle especially it will get locked into your defensive 50 until a good team WILL score
-
To think we could have Shuey and Zaha right now though from that 09 draft is nearing on sickening to go with Trengove edit - i still hold out hope for Blease and Strauss, one needs a tank and the other a injury free run
-
I think Gysberts has the tools to be good, just needs a tank imo and we will see some progress
-
no sweat, thats why we are here
-
i doubt heavily Schwab has ever had a hand in any draft selection processess, He would just be spruiking our then current direction
-
exactly, we still need runners in the upcoming draft......who will they be? Blease, Bennell, Bail? We need top 10-15 mids in the next 2 drafts, pure inside outside A graders
-
I would have thought that we were obviously treated very softly under bailey, including amount of fitness work we did over summer ect I definitely dont agree football is simple, the evolution means that when a few players are out of position or not working hard enough then a whole structure can fall apart
-
Ok skills may be down, but the game plan has changed dramatically, to a more contested rather than outside style of play. Trengove has been easily one of our best imo both games and again what excuses?
-
What excuses? Trengove has been one of our better players this year? better than last year? You admit this process will take time, but then question why we are not seeing results? Not much to your arguments imo

he mentioned it was commented on during the sunday footy show, where all such news breaks apparently sorry on channel 7 or something
-
Energy watch as a business has been very successful to my knowledge, he is just a racist biggot. fair enough 1 out of 4 clubs thought he may be a dodgy guy. Please explain the countries 3 largest energy providers working with him? edit - sorry i don twatch a sunday morning football program lol.....seriously
