We arnt recruiting a ruck.... we dont need a ruck. We are recruiting a Forward who can play ruck for a short period each qaurter

The leverage stands that: Hale wants out - Bad for North Hale is on over 400K per annum - Bad for North Hale is contracted for 800K+over 2 years so he doesnt have to go anywhere he doesnt want to - also BAD FOR NORTH Bottom line North if they are smart will get some trade value and salary cap relief for a fringe player (due to their ruck depth) Hale if true has said he wants to go to the demons, so any offer GC offer must be accepted by Him not just Norths Footy dept

Am assuming that he would replace Sean Wellman yes as backline couch, does sound like a good option, obviously no others have been thrown around yet so the football department may be all over the situation allready

I would have thought that long air-time would be a bad thing for the forwards, allowing more defensive players to get back and out number them, creating huge packs ect. This would help your second point regarding crumbing forwards, although i dont like the "unpredictability" of it. Why do something so unpredictable? doesnt necessarily provide us with an advantage does it? I would much prefer fast play, precise long kicks to a leading player within our forward line. cant double team upon this type of play as easily. combat loose defenders ala Maxwell (when was the last time he played on a direct opponent?) by playing man on man, which i think we do quite well. make loose players accountable. just my take on it, do like the thinking outside the box

I think he is refering to the never say die attitude, work ethic etc not the actual positions or way they play. just the way that i interpreted it

This i a hard one, i think that people are getting carried away with what we want Hale/ a second ruckman for. I agree that Jamar will at this stage aslways be our number 1 ruckman, but Bailey also likes playing him up forward because his body is soso big. I think that Hale will be targeted to unleash the Big Russian up forward more so than for Hales own ruck or Forward capabilities. Also Jamar cannot solo ruck for the rest of his career, just not possible, it will shorten his career and his effectivness, we have the second best ruck in the comp lets not destroy him. Hale wont be a great player, but he will be good, can do some ruckwork, Stand tall as a FF taking a player from Green, Pettard, Jurrah, and watts, even Dunn.... this will be where he can help us. and he can take a mark and kick goals during games, even if it is one or two. I think Bailey is big on reducing the load on Jamar and allowing him that time up forward where he can still be effective, instead of running himself into the ground then to the bench everygame.... The sticking point is Hales price, 3rd rounder would be great but as other have said goldcoast are in the market and have an ubundance of draft picks to potentially throw around. Hale might want to stay in melbourne? could be a helping factor

Agree about bruces contract, didnt simon black take a pay cut to below or on 400k this season, and power to about 300 350k??? they deserve more than bruce imo

OK from what i have read yes bailey wants a tall FF player, why because we dont have one full stop. I believe bailey has said that he likes jamar playing in this position but we obvioulsy lack the second ruck who is capable.... PJ is shite so Jamar the legend that he is cant rest up forward in this position because hplays ruck all day through requirement of our list. People saying Watts isnt the player bailey is looking for....wtf are you talking about? Watts is a CHF ala Riewoldt.... never ever was he goign to be a FF he will dominate the whole ground he is a fast as they come and can run all day why would we leave him in the goal sqaure that is so dumb. People talkinga bout Q. Lynch stop he is a spud who cant get a game at Westcoast and dont give me any crap about there ruck depth he wouldnt get a game and didnt when cox was injurey he sucks, even more as a forward than in the ruck. Why do Trengove, Mcdonald and Moloney all come straight back in? we just played our best game of football in how many years? This may push the competitiveness of spots within the team to another level? if these types of players are kept out. And i do understand that these players are all best 22 but when you are out of the team very few if any players should be given an easy way back in after such a performance, just my opinion.
