  1. Jetta, Magner, Gawn! About the only ones who may get us up and going and will be playing for Cranbourne FCS. I guess it could be an attempt at avoiding them losing their confidence completely?
  2. Agree 100 percent re the tiresome nature of incessant Neeld bagging.........sack him for whom? Another guy to kick when he is down? I just hope that if Fitzy gets a game, he gets three or four regardless of how he goes: given the anticipated weather this weekend I doubt if he will be taking a lot of big grabs, but he doesn't need just one or two games then get dropped. In fact any of the promotees from Casey should get a few to see how they get up to pace.
  3. .....and of course, sacking Neeld today would prevent that right away??? No, it would just allow us to find someone new to get angry with. (By the way I am not saying that Neeld is THE answer to our problems, just saying that yet another mid season sacking would send an awful message to any prospective coach who may be foolish or maybe adventurous enough to consider us as a long term career move. I don't think even Richmond or StKilda have sack four consecutive coaches mid season.)
  4. Good post. Sacking three consecutive coaches mid season - was that a mistake? If so, what can we learn from that? Sack a fourth mid season? How successful has that been in our history? Would that be likely to attract a top rank candidate? Sure, I am as frustrated as anyone here by our failure to progress in the last several years, but is another midseason sacking going to really rectify things? Really? Has it in the past? I don't know the answer by the way, but if learning from past errors is going to be a factor, maybe we should let Neeld do what he thinks he can and rethink at season's end, despite him still being in contract, even if that involves doing "secret" assessments of alternatives over the remainder of the season.
  5. Not exactly - it is what you (and the individual does) do with what you have. If you always do what you've always done, you will always get what you've always got - so we clearly need to do something very different with what we do and what we will have. Does that mean replacing Choko with say Ratten, if we can lure him back? Or some other mid coach? Choko certainly doesn't seem to have been a success with our mids, over ? 6 years, so IMO a change here is mandatory.
  6. Is that the same Gerard Healey who left MFC for big bucks at $ydney? So, we are expected to sit up and take notice of what he says?If he or anyone is putting Neeld "on probation" for games vs Hawthorn and EddieCollingwood then they have clearly prejudged the matter.
  7. I also love this club - I will elect you as President, provided that you guarantee to pull off each and every one of these all so simple solutions to all our ills.
  8. I think Neeld was right when he arrived at least in one very important aspect of modern footy: we need to get fitter, stronger, quicker then we may well look more skilful, being under less pressure, both physical and mental. Consider if you do get the ball and have just half the time a Cat has to decide what to do and to dispose of it (due to being less fit, and slower to the possession, and probably more fatigued physically and mentally), AND know that you are far less strong than the guy who is pressuring you, then your disposal is of course going to be rushed, panicked if you like, and thus less efficient. Further, a fitter quicker stronger (and more disciplined) TEAM will be able to spread and make more options for the guys with the ball. WHEN and IF Missen and Craig can get the guys fitter and thus stronger bodied, and quicker to the ball, confident that they are as strong as the potential tackler (even maybe still in modern footy, a bumper), THEN you will almost certainly see better decision making AND better disposal.
  9. So, there are a billion, give or take a few, of his compatriots in his homeland. If he could use his connections to get each to contribute just one cent to our club.....Eddie, eat your heart out. Seriously though, wasn't he a patron or some other connection to MFC a few years back? He certainly knows how to run big enterprises and has a profile. And, as has been pointed out above, there ius no way he would try to get too involved with the footy side of things. May even attract some 7 foot basketball type from China to have a try with us.
  10. IF that was the pivotal moment, then why?? What cracked at that point? Can't blame Neeld for that - something cracked long before he was appointed.
  11. Started then.....then, sadly, the heart stopped when Jimmy died.
  12. All sounds so very very easy .... thanks for that. Problem solved.
  13. Those who long for the Bailey days should have a read of this article: how far did he set the club back, and how many years would it take to get that back? Not saying that Neeld is THE answer but at least he has identified what a lazy unfit mob we had when he took the helm and has tried to do something about it. Tried being a word that Morton didn't know when it came to a contested game of footy.
  14. I wonder, in the interests of fairness and balance, will he report a counterbalancing interview with Chris Dawes: I would be interested in his views of MFC vs Pies training intensity. Frankly I would put far more store in what a hard courageous worker like Dawes has to say than......<the opposite>.
  15. "We are an inexperienced young side"........."training ok" So all is well really :-(((
  16. Seriously, will there be a club by the time his contract is up?
  17. The Board and the President are a disgrace: they owe every supporter an explanation and a plan for the immediate future. They have squibbed / are squibbing on their duties. Sure they don't play on the day, but they (mis)manage the club and we need to know what they are planning. Yeah.....just tell us who please.
  18. Don't worry: there are some here who seem to think that Roos or Eade will be chomping at the bit to join us :-)))))) Was there one? "Won the third, and were competitive for the first two minutes"!
  19. He MUST be seriously depressed. He needs to give Jeff Kennett a call, wearing his BeyondBlue hat
  20. PREDICTION: He will say "we won the third quarter, that is a positive".
  21. Seriously, it has gone far beyond anything remotely related to a game plan. Their confidence, their self belief is absolutely shot.....zero. Just letting them out to play random one-on-one schoolyard footy could only improve their self confidence.
  22. I wasn't able to see the 186, but I saw the first quarter of this and just feel absolutely gutted. Just empty inside.......totally numbed. I have followed this team for nearly 60 years, and this is just inept. I cannot see any future for this club. We are gone. A very sad day in my life.
  23. A lucky first goal from a turnover, then TEN UNANSWERED goals. "The hardest team to play against" sounds about as sincere as "There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead" Both need to go
