Great article on Max, and his influence on those around him at the Club.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 21

Well that would be really bad for us then. :-((( Number of wins in the second half of the season would be far better :-))) -
Pedersen is far better both as a forward and as a back up ruck. Watts is far better both as a forward and as a back up ruck. Dawes is almost better as a forward though not as a back up ruck. Hulett could well become better both as a forward and as a back up ruck. So what would be his rôle? NO

I am sure the North Koreans would be happy to see the last of their Dear Leader and Trav would be far more benign I am sure.

Who are the Dees chasing for 2017 and at what cost?
monoccular replied to junk's topic in Melbourne Demons
I know this may have been answered elsewhere, but does anyone know for a fact if the EssUndone banned players are able to leave as free agents? There has been speculation one way and another - or is this yet another case where the AFL will make a decision on the run? -
Not sure - could it maybe be something to do with VFL finals eligibility for 1s and 2s? Funny things sometimes happen this time of year on these issues.

The Jesse Hogan Panic Room - all contract talk here
monoccular replied to Grapeviney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Well I hope he was watching very closely the Hawks game for several reasons. - Yes it seems we can play some great footy and are definitely on the rise: it is a matter of developing consistency within and between games. - It was a genuine team effort, with mids in particular seeing multiple options up forward, not just the superstar. - He could have had a good look at Weideman's set shot routine. -
GCDee What are you on? And he wouldn't be an upgrade on Pedersen, not even on Dawes. Pull the other leg.

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 21

If he can't get up after 6 day breaks his future must be bleak to say the least. However they would do it, they should have a definite plan, and announce it before the event, unlikely as it may be. But they don't and they won't. -

I am sure that the AFL, in their infinite wisdom and with their infinite foresight and judgement, would dream up some sort of solution on the run. -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 21

Ox If our guys apply the pressure, and run like they did from the word go v Hawks, they should have a good win This will be a test of mental strength and application as much as anything else GO DEES -
MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 21

Looks about our best line up for the year. Unfortunate that Weideman got done by an illegal Rioli tackle, but it may have saved the selectors a big dilemma re who to drop for Hogan. Hopefully, depending of course on the form of Pedersen in particular, he may get another couple of games this year. As an aside I see that Roos still loves Dawes though: not the first time that he has been dropped, not played then be recalled (this time as an emergency) without playing in the 2s. I wonder if Goodwin and the list managers have the same obsession as Roos does about a man who can't mark, can't ruck and can't keep fit enough to play? -
Missed, or chose to ignore? MRP chose to ignore too. Pattern!

Careful Redleg. Knowing the inconsistency of the MRP they may have another late look at that. Deliberate, hard contact, off the ball, against a protected species - 4 down to 3.9 with a guilty plea ? -
Except in his own case where it is an ey.

Difference is that Bernie gets suspended when he does the wrong thing No scrutiny of the pick up spear tackles also sends a very mixed message. Could have broken Weid's neck. Would that have been deemed low impact too?
-
A revolt against him? Why? Not a team man? Should a prospective suitor be concerned?
-
Losing enthusiasm for the Lyon methods? Who could blame him.

Watched for maybe the fifth time I laughed again as that <noun: person who tosses> Derwayyyn, whose contributions to football commentary are restricted to inane comments, obvious observations, and calling out a succession of players names, at the boundary throw in prior to Hunt's opening goal, called "McEvoy, Jones, Hunt" when the ruck contest was if not break even then won by Gawnius Maximus.

I guess it may be a glimmer of a start that they are recognising that free agency hits the lower clubs harder. Ultimately if things continue there will be 'prime clubs' and 'feeder clubs'. But another huge issue with 'equalisation' is the draw and the prime time, prime venue games. The rich will get richer and the poor poorer if this continues - again prime clubs and feeder clubs.

It will be "interesting" to see just where Rioli sits at this stage come Brownlow night. Of course nobody knows how the votes are going at this stage as we are always told that they are all locked away ?? -
THE MOST AWESOME POST MATCH THREAD EVER!!!
monoccular replied to red and blue forever's topic in Melbourne Demons
Come on They are Hawthorn Can do no wrong Of course if you listen to the commentary, Deeerrrrrwayyyyne didn't mention Max at all Must have been Jones sparking a clear Hawthorn hit out Was that a serious question? Never be surprised, though I must say I wasn't surprised at all, especially their total failure to acknowledge the spear tackle by [darling boy] on Weideman Except that corruption and parochialism is never a joke. A fine point, but which crossing works impacted on the GW and Camberwell (and beyond) lines. I think it was something else Bernie needs to have a chat with Pedo (v Lions) or maybe Colin Whatshisname (v WCE a few years back. Killed his career as all he needed was a good preseason) The ones I would celebrate are - Mitchell getting a bad corky ending his season - Hodge colliding with a point post, (or even a goal post), ending his season
