  1. Hawks already getting umpiring "luck"..... HTB
  2. And two of them are still playing finals !! What, do you reckon Beamer is thinking (in the background)?? Did he do a lot of thinking?
  3. Ernest - you may well know what he brings but do you know what he takes?
  4. Ricky P asked a question that I have also asked in the past - can / does / could Hulett become a forward ruck? Certainly looks monstrous. As a MFC fan I am naturally a pessimist: Max had a dream year but were he to miss even a few games Watts, Weideman, Hogan could not be expected to carry the load. That leaves Spencer, if he doesn't ask for a trade, or Pedersen assuming he stays on the list. I reckon if Spencer stays he should be given a lot more forward time at Casey to see if he could work on the forward role: otherwise maybe groom Hulett. Maybe these two experiments / developments should actually be concurrent.
  5. Hawks, Saints, Norf waited something like 40 years to enjoy their first finals successes. Dogs have had but one 60 years ago. But the AFL are determined that their new synthetic babies should not have to wait, and stuff the foundation clubs.
  6. I think I will trust our (current) recruiting team to do full due diligence as to why HH had a pretty poor season by his standards. If it happens to be some internal club issue, that they feel he will most likely overcome by changing clubs, then he looks just the type and age we need. If on the other hand he is just clapped out mentally or physically then leave him be
  7. Bye bye NorF, for a long time. OMG we had better break this longstanding hoodoo next year. The Crows remain, with the Dogs, my hopes for a refreshing change this year.
  8. Unbelievable contested mark by Eddie. Geez Malthouse is a great people manager. PS interesting stats just mentioned - a handful of dumped / traded ex-CFC forwards have kicked nearly as many goals as the whole CFC this season.
  9. How was that not in the back / marking interference? 2 goal turnaround? Swans look Gawn
  10. Should, but will??
  11. And another just before half time So dangerous yet not discouraged in any way.
  12. It is surprising that in 2016 TV technology can't cope with sharp contrasts And of course the AFL in their infinite wisdom could never force their favorite children to wear crap white, or other alternate strips in their first final Stevie J certainly deserves at least 2 for that dog act, especially given his history, but given his importance to the AFL love child club he will no doubt be free to play
  13. It is just wrong, in the interests of player safety, that Stevie J can in effect head charge into an opponent's midriff and be rewarded with a goal. This needs to be discouraged, not encouraged. Someone WILL break their neck one day. Only then will the usual AFL knee jerk response come into effect.
  14. One can but hope. They all looked as if they had been robbed. Not quiet enough help from their maggot mates.
  15. How come: Hawks always get away with encroaching on the mark? Mitchell only needs to kick 5-10 meters to a mark?
  16. OMG those maggots.....how was that deliberate? What other option other than not to go for the bloody ball at all? Gift goal to reverse the momentum
  17. Ah yes. Another AFL triumph, the "equalization" plan The top clubs get top fixturing to get top gates to buy top players from the feeder clubs.
  18. OMG those Whorethorn players whinge when frees don't go their way. Had it too good for too long.
  19. Hawkins did take a few years before things really clicked. I bet Lewis' sly punch behind the play in Q1 will once again be overlooked.
  20. That has annoyed me more that the concessions re top ups and the rule changes re DFA.......and I know that they will again reward them with prime fixturing opportunities to welcome them back from the nasty WADA ASADA wilderness. Meanwhile MFC, an exciting young team on the rise will get bugger all prime fixturing and thus continue to struggle to keep up financially.
  21. But that was then, and this is now And AFL is a dynamic game with rules made up on the run to suit the primary purpose, ie making TV $$$$, of the AFL, and nothing else But they get back the 12 "all freshened up" plus number 1 pick.
  22. ?? those highlighted bits in the same sentence ??, especially when it involves one of their pet project franchises playing in their first finals series. Absolutely no way they would allow that to be risked.
  23. Hunt looks forward and selects a target if one is there: H runs like a headless chook and bombs it.
  24. As AF said earlier in this thread - who knows what the award did to Jesse's mind? He was either carrying a chronic injury all year, or a swollen head. I am just really happy that we have blooded a handful of youngsters who could all turn out to be very good long term players.
  25. Could all this mean that he is seriously pi55ed off with them for some reason (other than his huge pay check) and a change of scenery / teammates is all he needs? Does he hate the coach or someone in the team? Certainly the club would need to do due diligence but our current administration and recruiting teams are very different from yesteryear The comparison with Sylvia isn't quite there: Col never put together several consecutive top seasons, let alone top games.
