  1. Salem’s value to the team is far greater than any stats can show. Poise, coolheadedness, coordination. Smith a Frosty type? Not nearly as “entertaining” though. Rarely a dull moment when Frosty had the ball in hand. 🤔
  2. Typical AFL HQ overreaction. Pathetic.
  3. Remember, we got belted by the Dogs in this game last year. …. and did we play them again late in the year??🤔🤔
  4. Jacinda across the Tasman is trying to rival Emperor McGowan, and Kim Jong in the isolation stakes. ** actually around 5 minutes before 3 qtr time.
  5. Any updates, in particular Fritta, Harry, Jake, Christian? And JV health & safety protocol? Covid? Concussion? Any detail?
  6. Sounds like lipstick on a pig - stand angles were all wrong from the design stage - hard to believe that this was "in the computer age". How could someone get away with not allowing sufficient slope to see the boundary line from most of the upper deck? The dark / sun contrast when the lid was off on a sunny day made / makes the game unwatchable, so what was their solution? Shut the lid in sunshine - madness. How about a translucent roof and overhangs - surely there must be appropriate materials for this. And just one other of the many things that has kept me from attending Docklands for about a decade was the dangerous crush trying to access Spencer Street Station - not sure if they are still there but there were even quite a number of steel bench seats about half a meter off the ground presumably designed for unsuspecting departees to trip on or skin their shin in a crush in the dark. (Maybe some sort of partnership with Epworth ED?) And don't start me on the fake noise - I am glad to read that it is not only ancient me who finds the annual increase in inane noise totally off putting. (Still, it is the same at the G - and whenever I air my complains it falls on deaf - or probably deafened - ears.)
  7. Friggin' amazing will do it for me.
  8. Fair enough, but I am not convinced that he has (at least yet) the footy smarts. (which may reflect lack of continuity due to injury, or, maybe just not there?)
  9. And his (Kozzie) GF involvements were greatly underrated too. Many said he had a very quiet game - by his standards maybe NB no goals. Not a lot of conventional stats but a hell of a lot of pressure acts.
  10. Bowey 2021 says “hi”! joe boy and ST - whose place would Joel be pressing? Bowey? Rivers? Hibberd?
  11. The blue and white was vertical today - horizontal in the PF, though I guess the Cats lying down makes them look vertical
  12. Impressive ever since his first game.
  13. IF the MFC managed to get the rules changed to get Ron Barassi Jnr then more power to them. At this stage he must be regarded as our best father / son pick. Wasn't aware that Big Bob Johnson was also a formal father / son pick - was also a great contributor to that golden era. Jack Viney is the only other standout in my memory. Many other were just so-so, or less (but congratulations to them all for ever achieving what the overwhelming majority of posters here have not: getting selected onto an AFL/VFL list)
  14. Maybe Eddie stuck his bib in just as an opportunity to say that he was feted at the Super Bowl and us peasants weren't.
  15. We get that - consistently inconsistent. The only consistent thing they do.
  16. ..... and the most grating voice I have ever heard on radio.
  17. But to keep the window open there needs to be constant renewal. And never ever forget his incredibly shrewd tactical "deliberate OOB" round 23 - knowing that the Cats would go down the line and some id1ot would smash to away for a 50 meter ..... who else would not have instead have tried to put it up near the goals. Brilliant work. 🤔
  18. Thanks Phenomenal work ….. still trying to think what to do with the info though.
  19. …. another four flags? ❤️💙❤️💙
  20. Why are you saying that Tomlinson isn’t ready? By all accounts he is in full training and has played in the club hit outs. If our new club doc, and his orthopedic specialist and our fitness guru say “go”, then I would certainly have him ahead of the unlucky but less than consistent Smith.
  21. Not so sure about the velodrome track length vs the dimensions of a decent sized Aussie Rules oval.
  22. …. and maybe less stable?? We do not want anything like Ox at that awful surface outside Junction Oval.
  23. Thanks JNM And you of course left out the Norm Smith medalist from that list - when he kicks clutch goals in pivotal moments NB GF x2, and ANZAC Eve the whole team lifts. Scoreboard pressure can absolutely crush opposition morale and spirit.
  24. Brilliant stuff Max, sorry picket. Interesting re Sparrow - I and others I think have seen him as more a Viney clone - another Oliver clone must be very worrying, for all opposition teams. So exciting a prospect.
  25. And one of them starts “It’s a grand old flag……..”. What is the other one?
