  1. To me that looked like a genuine player down gathering ball taken high. Kicking for goal, both teams, very ordinary, especially indoors with zero wind. As an aside the commentary is of its usual horrible standard. And how feral are the Tiger fans?
  2. Surely the determining factor should simply be between: - player down to collect the ball and taken high - high tackle - player with the ball already, sees tackle coming and ducks - holding the ball
  3. Of course it would be great to keep him, but he wants opportunity. He is behind Kozzie and Spurge, and competing with Chandler. Big question is who / what we can get for him from the Druggies. Are they looking to offload anyone surplus, hopefully a tall?
  4. DD - if you feel Petty is a better forward than defender, then we have a superstar forward on our list. Time will tell I guess. OK then .... even though it would create confusion, can we have A Brayshaw instead?
  5. And imagine how it would change if they decided to crack down on throwing.
  6. If Gill and his henchmen at HQ haven't learned from the dog's dinner aka VFL that byes are soul and competition destroying then let them go ahead and introduce a 19th money source team and see the fans desert AFL in even greater numbers than they have already. NB BYES are garbage, and make the "draw" even more unfair than it is now.
  7. Does anyone know the nature of Lever’s shoulder injury? AC subluxation should be manageable, but a full AC dislocation may not be. Presumably not a shoulder dislocation. And anything specific re BBB? All it says is “knee” which covers a full range from plays, 1week, all through to bye bye BBB. Joel Smithseems to have accelerated towards being able to take the field, hopefully not to sustain yet another injury. Could be handy as a defender or a forward, or even medical sub.
  8. Cats always make finals given their quaintly shaped home ground where very few opposition fans can attend. But what is their record at the G this year? Or any year and at any normal shaped and sized ground for that matter
  9. 58 - a fit Joel (I know a very unknown, sadly) would add a lot of versatility as a forward or a defender, despite his limitations. With BBB's future now looking rather uncertain, we need some height up forward, so it may be it is time for the Weed to make his final case again. Whilst I have been hoping that JVR may get a gig sooner rather than later, throwing him in without an experienced forward partner may be too much to ask: or, he could of course stand up and announce his presence.
  10. The Petty option seems a reasonable option, but Howes after missing so much footy is way out of left field. JVR would seem way ahead in the pecking order. Exactly my thoughts - there are several parts to the thumb, some involved directly in hand balling, and others not. Anyway it is a Bulldogs game so surely in the interests of equity he should be allowed to just throw it.
  11. "The custodians can't just stand idly by and only concentrate on the money and the revenues.." Maybe this is exactly what they are thinking about now .... retrospective law suits and payouts because they have failed in their duty of care.
  12. “The head must be protected. Glad it still is…” Maybe they should look at Max getting thumped in the back of the head at just about every marking contest. Or is that not sacrosanct?
  13. Not until he recovers, if he does, from his latest injury. 🙄 The thumb IS a finger.
  14. Am I too simplistic thinking that if BBB is triple teamed then there must be two un manned forwards somewhere. Why not leave him triple teamed and ignore him using the others?
  15. There are certainly times when high contact should be penalised, particularly the coat hangar and other tackles that are crudely executed starting high. If for example the player is bending down to get the ball and gets his head pulled off no argument. But when they deliberately head charge into a dangerous situation they should be penalised for (maybe) “reckless conduct” even without prior opportunity. We must sometime protect players from their own recklessness.
  16. The ground looked as if it had wide flanks and deep pockets (certainly compared to Taxpayer Park from the week before). Maybe the warm sunny conditions helped him too. Anyway, an exhilarating performance for Kozzie….. just hoping for many more.
  17. I would suspect that in junior footy, even top level, there would be more walking and hanging around than we see in AFL. He has adapted and undoubtedly would adapt as a forward rôle too.
  18. Has Tommo ever been tried as a forward? Some successful back men have naturally become forwards. He is a fairly big body and his defensive mindset could paradoxically be useful in our forward line. Just speculating.
  19. If Lever comes up, and given Tomlinson’s very solid game in defence today, this (Petty going forward) surely isn’t out of the question. And IF Petty returns in defence then at very least Tomlinson should be the sub. When Lever went down today the thought of Dunstan as sub sent shivers down my spine. We have May, Lever and perhaps Petty carrying injuries, and if a mid or a winger went down Tommo is versatile enough to release another wing / flank to fill the mid rôle far more than Dunstan (or Bedford) would be to replace a big man.
  20. Viney Kozzie Sparrow Langdon Hibberd Harmes
  21. Port must be dreaming bang bang bang 😱
  22. Maggot plucked that one out of his [censored].
  23. Can we start a changes thread early? Melksham done very little, Bedford nothing.
  24. Would rather bang bang bang then 100 points to 7
  25. He was an incredible player. That is what we romanticise about.
