They look like we should be able to do our usual thing - strangle them and prevent too many clean I 50s to King in particular As above - strangle them.

Beware if it is an ice bath though.

May be May 2023?

Have you heard anything or is this pure (or rather impure) speculation?

I suspect Tom Sparrow will be chomping at the bit to take the opportunity to fill Jack Vineys role.

The very, very contentious 50 for Dissent Rule

The karma bus will end up biting him, or actually his successor, when people just stop watching the umpires who perceive themselves as the reason people attend. Surely not better than AFLX 😱 -

Spreading ones arms and shaking a head is a very normal human reaction and may well be in many cases actually berating oneself. Ever see a golfer who hits a shank or a duck hook and shakes his head or spreads his arms? Now, thanks to the infinite wisdom of AFL HQ that sort of reaction is automatically deemed to be abuse, or disrespectful. Like the mindreaders in yellow, who call "insufficient intent", they now apparently KNOW what the player is thinking. -

Brad Scott is already doing a far worse job than his predecessor SHocking, and Gil is equally culpable. It is absolutely out of control and will only get worse. IF they thought it would result in less booing of umpires then they can't read a crowd, and have thrown the umpires under the bus in the process. I don't really see how it can now be undone. Could be the beginning of the end of AFL as a prime spectator sport (or as "an experience" as the marketing types would put it). -
I may be labelled a conspiracy theorist, but Daw and M Brown's "mystery injuries" rate no comment from VFL. Nothing really changed since the old VFA thuggery days.

Typical jerk AFL knee jerk reaction. Venting verbally or confronting - absolutely yes; questioning, looking confused or exasperated - no. -

Axis - one cannot enforce respect. Respect is earned …. and not by ridiculous over the top demands, like banning holding one’s arms out or shaking the head which are natural human reactions to confusing situations. Sure don’t shout at or swear at an umpire or get in his face, but showing exasperation?? This only drives a wedge rather than what is intended. -
Friggin cheat …. and an equally gullible / incompetent umpire. Nobody can be forced to respect that.

KC’s match report says Daw was out of the game, but no mention I could find of how or why? Another low flying seagull or Martian like Mitch Brown??

People may get to fear tyrants, but they will not respect them particularly when they are blatantly overzealous. That is human nature. Sure I think we all agree when players confront an umpire verbally or in an intimidating manner and dispute their decision a penalty is appropriate but asking a question or holding one’s arms out???? It will have the opposite effect - pity the AFL never admit they make mistakes. Similarly with the random implementation of the statue in the mark rule - “we both saw him play on but I didn’t call it - 50 meters!” -
Essendon 💉💣🛬 Rather perversely, and of course salivating at our 10 goal 3rd quarter, I actually looked forward at times to the ball going deep into our defence just for the pure joy of watching our TEAM defence clear it forward.

Still exciting (in a way) when he bounds off like a frightened gazelle - just glad it isn’t for us.

Do any Casey watchers know what Daw's injury was?

Yes - apparently Cotchin deliberately kicking Walker was of similar value to May's "trip"! (Maybe something to do with wanting Cotchin to be able to play ANZAC EVE).

"It also takes pressure off the Umpires which can only be a good thing.." Wrong - it only makes things worse. Open abuse, yes: penalising arms out in exasperation only reinforces the authoritarian mindset of AFL HQ and does nothing to harbour goodwill between players and umpires. Do umpires regularly visit all clubs at training and get to know the players and explain how they interpret the rules? NO. That IMO would be the first step in "addressing disrespect" rather than acting like infallible dictators. Not yet, but would you like us to be on the wrong end of the stick when it inevitably does? -
Easter weekend - full of family (and for some religious) stuff. Fixed seating - a total lottery as to where on sits.

I don't recall them naming the others

Tomlinson performed but Petty is better. Same could be said for Weid / TMc v Brown. And who would you leave out?
-
Wind an issue?? So why is Daw’s day done? Another Mitch Brown off the play KO that will be ignored by the pathetic VFL boys club? (Unless you are BBB)
