Good move. I remember way back playing against Scotch College. Their red jumpers were skin tight and impossible to grab. What about plenty of oil on the arms as well? Make us as slippery as eels. What was wrong with the stars? I thought they were meaningful symbols of our illustrious past.

Good one BB. They do look alike. -
Not convinced that Cross will pass the medical and join us?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS
Bobby McKenzie replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
What is going on with Cross and this forum? I asked an honest question yesterday whether he was definitely coming to Melbourne. I received no answers and the topic was removed by some 'kind' moderator. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - DANIEL CROSS
Bobby McKenzie replied to MadAsHell's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is Daniel Cross definitely coming to Melbourne? It is strange to see nothing on the Melbourne website even though it has been widely verified in press releases. Have I missed something here? -
One correction C&B. Our midfield WAS putrid. One more quality mid fielder is all we need. Lets hope pick 9 delivers.

No worries PJ our jumper is fine. Fancy worrying about a collar! Gee, what a great recruiting spell. I hope Dom Tyson is as fast as Frank and as tough as Mike.

I think Bruce has thanked the club ten times over. Remember, he was draft pick no. 68 or so. He became a favourite of mine when he and Greeny killed Carlton in that famous finals win in 2000. Not bad for a rookie. He will be a big asset to Hawthorn. I too hope that one day he will return to his beloved Demons. He showed his class when as a Hawthorn player he attended Jim Stynes funeral wearing a red and blue Melbourne tie. He was a very fair player and, correct me if I'm wrong, was never ever reported in his 240 plus games. Not many players can boast that record.

And Brad Johnson rated Bruce as his toughest opponent in his illustrious career. Praise indeed.

Still Bruce bashing! Guess you are paranoid here. And Brucey and your namesake were great mates too.

But he's NOT going! Seriously, I'm really pleased he has made this decision. He has talent to burn. Watch Roos bring it all out.

Great Day for the Red and the Blue
Bobby McKenzie replied to 1 red eye 1 blue eye's topic in Melbourne Demons
When I shifted to Perth in 1976 I had to decide who to follow in the WAFL. The team that wore Red and Blue was West Perth and the team called the Demons was Perth. Perth wearing Essendon colours was a bit strange but I eventually opted for them as my chosen team. I did have immediate success with a couple of premierships in 76 and 78. BUT if you reckon Melbourne Demons have been performing badly then take a look at poor old Perth, cellar dwellers for decades. However, I must admit they did show some improvement this season where they became competitive. This competiveness is the minimum requirement of Melbourne for next season. We must NOT be seen as a pushover ever again. Well done West Perth and Norwood. -
And don't forget Laurie Mithen!

MFC's Virgin Australia Film Festival Video
Bobby McKenzie replied to PartyTimeJohnny's topic in Melbourne Demons
What a beautiful kid. Have a read of the comments on the MFC website and read what opposition supporters think of the video. Well done Nathan and Jack you did us proud! Jack was so big brotherly or even fatherly when he played with young Sydney and so gentle leading him onto the ground. I have always loved the mighty demons for more years than most of you (maybe even you Old Dee). This little story has made me more passionate than ever. Go Dees, go Roosy 2014. -
Neitz not a leader? Gee, I can't agree with that at all. He was inspirational and led by example with courage personified. .

Is the Melbournefc starting to smell a bit
Bobby McKenzie replied to garyh007's topic in Melbourne Demons
My thoughts too! Hopefully it is a very positive post. -
He may do dumb things at times but he's hardly pea hearted.

A bit of a bias against Brighton Grammar? Bit uppity for you? What the hell has the school got to do with Jack Watts? No one who is good enough for the AFL is WEAK or SOFT.Would you call Watts that to his face?

Well done on a magnificent career Aaron. You were a class act both on and off the field. I remember in your first few seasons comparing you with my namesake. You had his dash, goal kicking ability, skills and possessed his mercurial qualities. Your chases and tackles left many opponents petrified. One of the few highlights against the Dockers on Sunday was your role in the very successful piece of play where you pinpointed a teammate with a beautiful kick took a handpass and then produced a perfect pass to Jack Fitzpatrick who goaled. Your retirement speech was all class and we hope you remain at the club in a mentoring role. All the very best for your future life mate. Thanks for the memories.

Great idea(NOT) and have Watts tearing us apart with six goals every time we play the Blues? He would be a champion in a good team. Who is No 11 draft pick anyway? Could be a spud. We need EXPERIENCE not more kids as we are a very young, inexperienced team already.

Have a nice stiff whisky and go to bed mate. It will all seem better in the morning!
-
Yeah, he was "shocking". 24 disposals @79%.( team average 69%). I guess that % is a bit lower than Jack's normal tally. Not having a go at Sylvia who worked hard but achieved 26 possessions @just 46%. I wonder how many critics of Watts have actually played footy or maybe I have been looking at another game.

Your WAFL team also wear blue and red? And they have the same theme song?
