Life in Australia - Melbourne 1966
Good to see Meg Morris from Prisoner before she was famous.

OMAC??
Like when Port played Trengove, Watts, Barry and Toumpas and wondered why they were no good.

Charles Spargo - A Grade Small Defender (2021 Edition)
Agree that his tackling is good, but he's hardly a chase-down player. Like vandenBerg, a great tackler if somebody runs right at him. Still reckon he's shown enough to hang around as a depth player.

Time to have a talk about Jayden
Doesn't alright when he gets the ball. Doesn't get enough of it.

Caroline Wilson on MFC rumblings
In the last 20 years how many contested club elections have there been across the league apart from Szondy vs Gutnick? The ratio of threatened contested elections to actual ones is about 1:300. First thing the incumbents do is point out a vote will cost $100k and that's usually the end of it. Unless you have the popular support to push the incumbent off without a fight a'la Stynes and Gardner.

TEAMS: Rd 16 vs Fremantle
He did try and play Oscar down there. Which was option Z.

TEAMS: Rd 16 vs Fremantle
Hard to do anything when four defenders go to you the moment the ball comes off the boot. They knew exactly what we were going to do forward and stitched it up perfectly. He had a bad game but could do with some help.

"No Merger" Podcast
Was thinking that. Or the Glasshouse? Surely that was still going in 96? Would have had lots of mid-size venues if we'd got the 96 Olympics!

"No Merger" Podcast
Interesting that in the last episode it's suggested that the reason they held the meeting at Dallas Brookes Hall was because the phone survey suggested that many people would turn up, when Ridley's book says it was because the Tennis Centre was booked for the Dalai Lama. I always thought that was a suss reason, surely there was a venue somewhere between the two sizes available. The next big thing for this story is when somebody finds the full tapes of both meetings. We've seen the highlights enough, even if it's just people yelling I want to see the whole thing.

Top 5 home and away losses under Goodwin
I reckon we've had more memorable wins than losses in the same time. Usually because they drive your expectations down before pulling off a surprise.

Top 5 home and away losses under Goodwin
That was under Roos. Who we farewelled a week later with a 20 goal loss. Classic stuff. I do rate this highly as a disappointing defeat though. I ended the afternoon by going the full Richmond on the Gold Coast with a chair in the Ponsford Stand.

1964 and all that ...
Long shot, but does anyone have the Sporting Globe report on the Grand Final in a scrapbook or similar? I'm hoping to get to the State Library and view it in person when it reopens but if somebody's got it and can send me a scan/pictures that would be fantastic.

Top 5 home and away losses under Goodwin
Why stop at five? 1. Round 23, 2017 vs Collingwood for obvious reasons 2. Round 2, 2019 vs Geelong - confirmation of everything I was worried about after the pre-season 3. Round 21, 2018 vs Sydney - had finals in our grasp and botched it. Fortunately wiped out by heroics the next week 4. Round 15, 2018 vs St Kilda - caving against a lowly team when there were serious finals implications 5. Round 4, 2018 vs Hawthorn - mitigated somewhat by belting a heap of sides a few weeks later 6. Round 19, 2017 vs North when we had a roaring wind in the last quarter and couldn't overturn a six point deficit. 7. Round 9, 2020 vs Port 8. Round 15, 2020 vs Sydney 9. Round 22, 2019 vs Sydney - a stench of death classic 10. Round 4, 2017 vs Freo - the day Cam McCarthy gave us the full Kingsley

Inability to kick in the wind
Strange considering half our squad were Casey Fields specialists

Swans in Cairns for 2 days vs Demons less than 5 hours - why?
Is that why we were crap from the first bounce?

VFL to Merge with NSW & QLD State League
I don't think we'd drop Casey but if we did, any chance of Port Melbourne being the famous inner city (or as close to as we're going to get) training venue? You'd have to get rid of the cricket club, but otherwise good location, pretty much straight on the 109 tram from the MCG.

Gawn In Doubt for Crows?
Not concerned in the middle, big loss for the contested marks and around the ground rucking.

Deep Dive into Dees Issues
I've done a forensic investigation on Adelaide's team (e.g. looked up their side from last week on AFL Tables) and hereby declare RILEY KNIGHT most likely to come from the clouds and have the game of his life against us. He has kicked 2 goals in a game 12 times, this is his chance for 3+

Footy Books
If somebody on here wants it they're welcome, otherwise give it to an op-shop and confuse the locals. P.S - If anyone is interested, it's available on the cheap for Kindle. Paperback version is there but is $$$ due to rarity.

If we lose to the Suns, I will....
Unless it's a particularly violent battering I'll be upset for about four hours then get on with life. This season is an the biggest pre-season ever.

Schwarz: 'Dees are irrelevant'
He makes some reasonable points but board challenges are the biggest empty threat in footy.

Dee-sappointment Article Nails It
No interest in what other clubs do, the way we play it's stupid. Alternatively they could change the way we play but I bet that doesn't happen.
