  1. the comments were made in 2018 and the apology given in 2022 .it is reasonable to postulate that the apology formed part of settlement terms of a defamation action brought by members of the Crows hierarchy and/or Collective Minds .
  2. thanks WJ ,I enjoy posts that provide an information content rather than just opinion .This post managed to encapsulate all relevant player movement both at The Dees and Casey so it is a very handy reference source .
  3. Hopefully if the AFL makes rule for the NGAs it has the integrity to apply them. I don't expect all the rules to be immutable but to introduce a rule retrospectively as was the case with Mac Andrew was clearly dishonorable. We were the only club with a potential first round draftee (I think Michito Owens drafted by the saints at 33 was next) so we were the only club to suffer detriment .In the interest of fairness Mac should have been exempted from the rule change .A club should be hesitant in investing resources in NGA and risk this type this type of ad hoc rule change.
  4. How do we possibly chase any one of note ? We have neither draft capital or potential salary cap space .The only solution would be to trade an established premiership player and to do that would be madness.Should just concentrate on those that we are fortunate enough to already have .
  5. As soon as the final siren rang I knew we had it .Not much before.
  6. George I look forward to this thread each year .Membership numbers put the year into clearer perspective .Keep the regular updates going !
  7. Syd it is more than unfair for this retrospective rule to have been introduced,it is immoral .We were the only club likely affected by the rule change this year . i expect that half f the clubs would have been happy we lost our NGA choice and the other half would have wished us to lose our first round selection as well. Poor form by the AFL to make a decision at our sole expense .
  8. Ross Dillon had a Schwarz like career .After his first game against Richmond he was touted as being a future super star .But he did the knee soon thereafter and although he became a valuable player on his return he was never quite the same both here or in SA .As good a judge of the flight of the ball as you will ever seer
  9. it smells of a salary cap dump. With the trade period well and truly closed I can see no other way the Suns could have done it if that was the clubs intention .
  10. And while we are on this painful subject it would be remiss of me not to remind all that we were subsequently cleared of the tanking allegations and given AFL face saving fully suspended fines on exotic breaches by Chris Connolly .I recall discussing the matter with Don McLardy at a function and being advised that the club was supremely confident of being exonerated by the enquiry but settled with the AFL so the club could move on and concentrate on football issues
  11. Lucky to have been offered a contract by us .No other club showed any real interest .I thought his cards were marked after the Collingwood effort .The upside was that the forward line was rejuvenated when Weed was belatedly replaced by BBB and the rest is history .He has been given a final opportunity to reinvent himself and no one would be happier then me if he turns it around .But frankly Im not all that optimistic.
  12. My understanding is that Indigenous coaching and development contracts are exempt from soft cap calculations
  13. The pies were under pressure to bring a well credentialed and well respected indigenous player into the club .They certainly hit the mark .
  14. The club in real terms did not have an appeal option .It can work around a two week suspension and have Jack ready for the finals campaign. But if it appealed and the AFL cross appealed he may (and anythings possible in this type of case ) have ended up with 4 and that effectively would have ended his season.
  15. I am going .We are limited to Bays 213 and 214 so it won't be hard to find anyone .
  16. Jack is crucial to our campaign. There were some wishy washy tackle attempts last night and there are some that need harden up . I have no doubt that if the rest of the team tackled and attacked the Sherrin like Jack we would have won convincingly
  17. Thats why I said I was uneasy about our pregame confidence .Same old same old.
  18. I get uneasy when I read these negative comments from rival clubs. .We have been here so often in the recent past and it has invariably ended in tears .Please not again.
  19. I thought Joel Smith looked the most capable of playing at a higher level Big leap ,strong hands and today was more composed. For most of the side the gap between VFL and AFL gets wider each week..
  20. A bit tough on Jack.He came straight back into the side without a hitout after a two month layoff. He was better this week than the week before and will be better next week than this week..
  21. Compare tonights effort to the last time we played them last year at the Gabba ,We are now light years ahead .
  22. Agree with the Gawn comment .Ever since the Richmond game Maw has been a bit gun -shy ,.As the skipper it is time for him to put on his big boy pants .
  23. We are nowhere as good as we hoped we were . ANB ,jordon .Hunt Spargo and Sparrow wouldnt feature in a genuinely good side . We will make the finals but thats about it .Probably left it too late to work a forward combination around Brown but thats our best hope .Disappointing..
