  2. Tmac- slower each week Oliver-welcome back Clarry Petracca -loss becomes win
  3. Really they are not even similar.JVR is a one man wrecking ball with explosive power .Jeffo is a better mark but lacks any power at all and this I think will [censored] his developmeny
  4. Mainly by having a compliant media and heavily fining any club that complains .
  5. What made the AFL NGA decision even more egregious was that we were the only club with a potential first rounder . No one else had one in sight .Saints was next best but a fair margin behind with Mitch Owens who went 33 in the draft. The decision of course was disgustingly retrospective as it restricted our access to a player who had already been in our NGA academy for 4years .I wondered at the time why we copped the change in these circumstances but the club probably couldn't do much.
  6. I think it would be safe to declare Jed a complete miss if not for the fact that The Club has given him a 2 year extension .Obviously the experts see something in him that Ive missed .He looks the part but never delivers. His greatest skill is his ball evasiveness ; he can g a half without touching it .His inability to read the play and position himself accordingly is symptomatic of why Casey give up so many easy out the back goals .

  8. WCW I do enjoy your posts because apart from being a Dee fanatic you often supply relevant info rather than the rumour and opinion that most of us indulge in .But you can be a bit precious at times ,such as this one ,so it is better to just move on .
  9. no issues with those votes.
  10. That's a pretty thoughtful and analytical summary Poita. Sadly I thought Kyah was a bust from day one and he has done nothing to disabuse me of that view .Really a strange drafting .
  11. Actually Smacker is highly talented and has the skill to be a game buster. But he is simply presently not fit enough for AFL .He is not even close to being fit enough .He had a major run in with Burgo at Adelaide over his work levels while in rehab . and seems to have had the same issue here with his calf and hammmy rehab .Needs a mini preseason and a block of games at Casey before being considered for the Ones.
  12. well at least it will be interesting to see what second half changes we make.Go dees.
  13. No No I watched it on the AFL feed .If Verrall slaughtered Podhajski then the AFL feed must have used trick cameras because what I saw was diametrically opposite to your claim .it was a man against boys for both Verrall and Fullarton .
  14. Are you being serious ?
  15. Wow that was painful to watch.Howes the only one who looked a class above this comp although having said that he was loose and his disposal problematic.Heaven help us if Max goes down unless we can grab a ruck from Doutta Stars or South Morang . Tholstrup battled hard but for a first rounder and 2 seconds you would nearly expect Harley Reid .And he aint that. Jeffo showed a bit but faded out which has been his pattern for most of the year .Mitch White is head and shoulders above any other Casey team member.
  16. Mitch Clark.Should /could have been an absolute gun .Most gifted forward i have ever seen at the Dees save for the early Schwarta.Almost sabotaged his own career at 3 clubs .It is a crying shame that we only only got a glimpse of his ability.
  17. no,if we extend it must be for a minimum of 12 months but there is no ceiling on the length beyond that .
  18. Except that he is only on a 6 month contract .There will be no Jefferson type development phase with him .He either shows he is up to speed this year or he is out .
  19. Wow this Josh Jenkins certainly runs hot and cold on the Dees.
  20. Disco must have amazing recuperative powers .Second time this season that he has made a much sooner than forecast return from injury .
  21. Matthew ( or Eddie as one of those challenged commentators called him ) was very good today .After he kicked that early goal his confidence was palpable .Consider this his VFL break through game .Not nearly ready for AFL but saw green shoots today .
  22. Yes I have watched him closely .He played a reasonable first quarter yesterday and that was it .Not even taking a grab which was his one strong area .Maybe he will develop but I'm not in the least bit confident .What I am confident of is that he is not remotely at present up tp AFL standard .
  23. That selection would be surely the definition of desperation .He has shown absolutely nothing to date and doesn't even deserve consideration .
  24. In the early 1980s Ron Barassi and Barry Richardson announced to the football world that the Dees were to prospect the Emerald isle for potential players. This proposal was met with a combination of amusement, skepticism and scorn by the wider VFL (as it then was) community. That attitude changed markedly when we in our early batch we produced 2 All Australian recruits and had possibly a 3rd in Paul Earley if he hadn't been consumed by homesickness and returned home. The recruiting move was a radical success. Fast forward to 2024, and ironic as it seems many clubs have Irish players, (in some cases like Brisbane and Geelong more than one), and we as the founders of the scheme have no-one at all. In fact it is more than 20 years since our last Irish hopefuls Kevin Devine and Nick Walsh tried out. I acknowledge that the AFL made things difficult for us, which is of itself not unusual, after the Wight-Stynes recruiting coup, by requiring us to use draft picks to recruit this untried talent. But now we can use Category B selections so this is no longer a valid excuse. What happened? Where did it go wrong? Why aren't we even in the market for these players? Don't we have a past network of contacts to assist in the process? Irish players are not even mentioned in men's recruiting discussions at all although in fairness the women's team has been creditably proactive. We just seem to just have this fascination with basketballers who are tall but not much else as our category B rookie targets. Can you throw light on why we are no longer interested in rebooting the Irish experiment?
  25. We went from 1964 to 1987 without playing in a final series and of course in those days there was not even a hint of assistance .WCE has been in existence for 29 years and played in 20 final series .Pretty obvious what my view is on any assistance to them .
