Jason Taylor’s contract
i wouldnt worry if he left tomorrow .Generally over rated on DL .Sure his top half first round picks have been ok but they almost pick themselves .You could easily send an office girl armed with Cal Twomeys phantom draft to do that part of the draft .But since about 2020 our picks beyond that have been ordinary.Jefferson,Adams,Verrall Seaston. Johston Tholstrup Howes Woewodin Laurie Rosman Brown all misses. Even JVR has been disappointing .Bowser was a hit but he was also a first round pick. There is plenty of scope for us for an upgrade if JT was to return to air conditioning .

The Ox Worried About the Dees in 2026
Sadly its going to be a long long season ,very much like the Neeld years .
-
Welcome Back Cookie
A great get but it also highlights the shortcomings of a CEO without football experience .
-
David Schwarz
Up until the knee tragedies by far the best key forward i had seen at the Dees .Just so powerful in the air and mobile for his size .An inexpressible talent.

TV Rights Moving Forward
I would expect DAZN to apply pressure both to the AFL and NRL to reduce the cost of the present deal or at least the next deal .Foxtel was in a paradoxical position .On one hand it could not afford to have the NRL and AFL deals because of the enormous outlay. But on the other hand could not afford to not have the deals because it would have left Foxtel bereft of watchable content .So Murdoch then did have something to sell to Blatvanik even if it contained overpriced agreements .You would expect DAZN as an international streaming conglomerate now to sweeten the sale by reducing the costs to it of NRL and AFL

Hassa Mann
At the obvious risk of seeming pedantic. that is not entirely correct .The Hawthorn game was the penultimate round and the win guaranteed top spot .We would still have achieved this by defeating a lowly Footscray (as it then was ) in the final round.

Worst Ever Draft Decision (& Best)
The best selection was Stephen Tingay in 1987 at pick 50 .Stinger was an absolute champ who, but for a freak accident that interrupted his career, would have been an all time great .The worst pick was Donald Cockatoo -Collins with pick 11 in 1995.This was the "feel good " pick used to enable us to partner him with his brother David whom we had inexplicably drafted the previous year .The two played a combined total of 9 games but started our tradition of "feel good " drafting. This has has continued to the present draft .

Welcome to Demonland: Latrelle Sumner-Pickett
I expect most close observers would at least have some concern over using a comparitivley early first round pick on a player that couldnt even make a SANFL grand final team.We dont get many first picks so they should be cherished and applied to best accelerate our rebuild .They shoudnt be speculative picks,We can use second and third round picks for that. The only factor that stops me seeing Pickett as a companion pony selection is that JT saw an untapped upside which would transform Latrelle .

Inside Access - Day 1 Pre Season
Gee this Mark Neeld bloke sounds like he can really coach

Farewell Clayton Oliver
This will be my only post on a thread which is mercifully reaching its end .I want to just say that I am still completely gutted that Clarry has gone .He was the best footballer I have seen at MFC .Robbie ,the second best ,was a gazelle and eminently watchable but not the match-winner Clarry was. This difference between the two is fairly reflected in their Bluey history..Would we have won that elusive flag or become a temporary power without Clayton ? No we wouldn't have ,simple as that.i know there are many accounts given as to why Clarry was jettisoned , some probably true ,most apocryphal. But we Have now lost a player who is irreplaceable .

Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
I hope Im wrong but I suspect that Brodie is pretty much cooked ,hence the Pies one year offer .We never seem tp learn.
-
Mason Cox
Mm.,not sensing a groundswell of support for this one .

Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver in 2026
I dont believe posters fully appreciate how difficult it is to get a good player let alone a champion .Whatever we got in a trade would be less than Tracs worth to the team .We only have 3 A graders and that is about all that separates us from West Coast .We need keep them at all costs
-
Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
Why are we even contemplating dealing with Collingwood ? ..They only give us the leftovers .Surely by now we have learned our lesson from Chris Dawes, Harry O Brien ,Ben Kennedy and whoever.Sure Henry Coles and Flash Gordon were good pick ups but that's hardly recent .

Welcome to Demonland: Brody Mihocek
I suspect that the AFL compensation for Charlie will be somewhere between nil and zero.

Farewell Charlie Spargo
Bet he does'nt.

Delistings 2025
none of those delisted can consider themselves unlucky .None are even close to AFL standard .A few more are blessed that they are still under contract .
-
The fastest Demon
The quickest I have seen is Scott Chisholm although he was an inveterate diagonal runner ,Sid Catlin and Neville Stone were both pretty sharp.
-
The List Manager Tim Lamb
Lets do everything to keep Lever ,Trac ,Clarrie and May .Their absolute best might be behind them but they are indescribably superior to any possible replacement I watched last night .The chances of verrall ,brown, wowy kenterfield sestan tholstrup or adams making it are somewhere between nil and zero .Did JT even see Sestan play ? Looks more like a foreman at the steelworks than an AFL footballer .
-
CASEY: Semi Final vs Frankston
Probably the loss was a blessing in disguise .Shows just how poor the bottom third of our list is .Tolstrup found the pace of vfl football too hot -slowest reaction time in the AFL.Fullerton embarrassing .Sestan doesnt even look like a footballer .Laurie and Culley worth persevering with but real depth issues going forward . est

Farewell Judd McVee
Well he actually owes his entire career to us. He wasnt taken in the main pre-season draft in 2021 and was the last unaligned player taken in the Rookie Draft at pick 18 .The MFC threw him a lifeline and he probably otherwise would still be at Geraldton .We then gave him a full year to develop at Casey .The minimum we can expect in return is that ,even if he is leaving, he in the meantime at least tries. even if he is leavng that he actually still tries
-
POSTGAME: Rd 20 vs St. Kilda
At least I am no longer concerned if Mcphee leaves .

Where is Fritta Going?

Can we talk about Kolt?
Reminds me a bit of Isaac Weetra.
