  1. They were never going to get a PP. I don't know why so many here were fuming at the prospect. They had no chance.
  2. What about the Bulldogs? Port? North? As good as Fremantle has been, they haven't been successful after 20 years in the league (only 5 or 6 finals series I think?), and have drafted and developed superbly with little-to-no help from the league. I know the current system and league isn't perfect, but it's no coincidence that a club that has been run as poorly as Melbourne has been is down the bottom for so long. I think a lot of the club's decisions are more to blame than any imperfections with drafting concessions and free agency. A champion team will always beat a team of champions. I know it's cliche but if a club is run well from top to bottom, you'll see success. This is the same in business across every industry. If you have people that want to be there and want to win for the club, then they will win. Our problem has been complacency, and righting that ship doesn't happen overnight.
  3. Carlton and Richmond, "powerhouse" clubs, have been [censored] for the past 20+ years. Essendon hasn't won a flag in 15 years (a drought for them). North Melbourne and Bulldogs have been among the most consistent clubs in the league the last 15 years. Brisbane won 3 flags. Sydney won 2. Geelong has always had a good culture and always played finals football. Melbourne's just a crap club.
  4. I suspect we'll get a pick in the 30-40 range for him. About right.
  5. He was probably Essendon's best player in the second-half of 2013. Stood up at a time when many others buckled. Says a lot about his character.

  7. I don't think he'll end up at Melbourne. But Roos is just keeping his cards close to his chest. The club is under no obligation to tell the truth re. what it's offered. It can lie about it as much as it wants. There's no rule against that. You can't be 100% sure until a deal is 100% done. Until then every other Victorian team is a chance, albeit a small one.
  8. Prestia not there tonight. Weird he's not as a top poller and vice captain, even if he missed so many games. Make of that what you will.
  9. If he is flexible in terms of where he goes, there is no way he will knock back the coin Melbourne is offering. I don't even really care if he comes to us. Geelong has been super arrogant this whole time, lowballing their contract offer, which they knew Adelaide would match, and then expecting him to get to them for nothing.
  10. This is actually, statistically, when players peak. You'd want him as a 28-29 year old when you're pushing for a flag.
  11. I don't think it was a cheap shot. He left Melbourne for a chance at a flag, to play finals Every Melbourne player that has left on their terms over the past few years has made an effort to get to a top side. Harsh reality is that these blokes were at the club for a decade and never played finals,or only played in one or two, 8-9 years ago.
  12. The AFL has made amazing inroads in improving game experience and security. It's much better than it used to be. Banning alcohol is hyperbolic and reactionary. Why in this country do people always resort to that, respond in that way when something bad happens? "Oh, someone got drunk and hit a woman...better ban alcohol!"
  13. The arrogance of Geelong is quite amazing. When they offered 800k they must have known Adelaide was going to match it. They can surely afford more. If they can't they have managed their list very poorly considering what they have lost this year. Adelaide matching makes is very hard for him to get to Geelong. The odds are against them now, and in favour of any team that can offer a better deal. Danger won't knock back a trade that Adelaide agrees with. As long as he gets to Victoria. If he knocks it back, he's in the pre-season draft for less money. Cats must be [censored] bricks. My God, there are some Cats fans on Bigfooty that I can't wait to lay in to if he doesn't end up there. All I would say is that it's not 100% he'd end up at Geelong and the response was always, "He's not coming to Melbourne", despite the fact I never mentioned Melbourne.I used to like Geelong.
  14. See him walking his dog around East Melbourne and Jolimont area. Confirmed coming to Melbourne.
  15. It pisses me off so much. Young kids who have been drafted and invested in saying, "wah wah I want to go hoooome". Unless you have serious family issues, such requests shouldn't be granted.
  16. Are you sure that number isn't the amount of contested marks Cameron has taken over the course of his career?
  17. Dawes would get very little value, and he's a hard trade because of his contract. I'd keep Dunn until Frost can string together a season with consistent football. If we get rid of Dunn and Frost can't get on the pitch then we're way too small down back. Pederson is better than Dawes but he's still an average football. What you have suggested with Dawes and Dunn is basically putting all of our eggs in one basket.
  18. There's no reason why he couldn't live out near Geelong and still play in Melbourne. I just don't buy that.
  19. He's disappointingly slow considering his size. Not quite sure where he fits in. I can see him maybe evolving into a Jetta-like player down back. Needs to clean up his disposal. His game against Adelaide last year was probably his best for the club. Hit the scoreboard early, pressured both up forward and down back. Still works hard and tries to get himself into the game but sometimes his awareness and skills let him down. Needs a big pre-season.
  20. If your wife were offered 700k extra to work that 2 hours away, she'd take it. Don't say she wouldn't.
  21. Luke Darcy on MMM saying Melbourne offered him $1.5 million over 6 years but he turned it down. Cited a reliable source. I can't believe that he would knock back an extra $700,000 a year.
  22. I actually want to keep him for this reason. He can be out Stevie J. Needs to be pushed along in the right direction. Goes off into the clouds during games and his urgency drops off but he is valuable imo. His first few years remind me a lot of Stevie J.
