He would be absolutely crazy to accept less money to play in Geelong for a number of reasons. List quality and the fact the "go home" factor is irrelevant as you're only 1.5 hours at most away from Melbourne. I'd be disappointed if the club isn't pushing hard. Don't you think his manager would *want* Dangerfield to take more money? Of course he does...the club would be silly not to keep pushing. Him being at the club doesn't confirm anything other than the fact Melbourne is inquiring about players his managers. Dangerfield is part of that group. tl;dr Dangerfield to sign with Melbourne, 12 years, 12 million.

You make it sound like Geelong is more than a 1.5 hour drive from Melbourne. Gee whiz, he could live in the northern suburbs and it would take him just as long to get to work in peak hour! Astonishing, isn't it? He'd be crazy to take less more to play in Geelong. Why would you do that when you can get more money and play with an up-and-coming side? There must be more to it? Of course they were. Reality is that even as low down the pile the likes of Terlich and Jones are, they're still there for a reason. You obviously don't want them playing games as you don't want any depth players to be because it means you have a lot of injuries, but at the very least they're competent and probably more useful in defensive roles than what Riley and Bail are in attacking roles.
