  1. Interesting...no room for Dawes in our best 22. Off season journalism...sigh....
  2. Interestingly I go to the occasional training session and feel awkward approaching the players (although I had a good chat with Shannon Byrnes last year) for a talk so D.T.I. interaction with them is really quite interesting. A friend of mine in the UK was box office manager of the Premier League football team that he followed. I once said to him that he must love the connection that he has with the players on a day to day basis around the club. His response was interesting saying basically that to him they were gods on the pitch and he did not want to get to know them in the flesh in case they turned out to be dick heads. I think that the truth is somewhere in the middle reflecting society as a whole so please D.T.I. keep it up!
  3. It puts Neitz in perspective as far his consistency and durability. Sometimes we don't know what we have until they are gone
  4. Sure I saw John Rantall do one at the Lakeside Oval around 72'
  5. Is it me or was Carlton playing in 2 totally different jumper designs?
  6. I had a brief chat with him at training last year and he seemed extremely switched on. Good for him!
  7. I agree; just the right amount of information and editorial. Love the sound of Mr Hulk!
  8. I mentioned somewhere else that the attraction of taking him now over through the PSD is getting an extra month of development into him. Not an entirely stupid idea for an inexperienced player
  9. Apparently they had 2 reasons 1. They did not want to risk losing him to the Saints in the PSD 2 and more interestingly they wanted to get him early to get an extra month's development into him. I find this quite an interesting and lateral solution. It possibly clarifies the clubs view on the draft outside the top 20.
  10. How sad that we cling to the idea that a priority pick will help us. The only way to drag ourselves out of this is by serious gut running from all involved. Reflect on when we were any good (2006) and we were made up largely of good to reasonable players who were all heading in the same direction. A leader like Neitz helped them to walk tall proving the old adage of a team of champions being inferior to a champion team etc etc. We have chewed up enough young men hoping that they will provide the answer but sadly our results over the last 8 years has disproved that misconception. Leadership, passion and experience is needed not more cannon fodder.
  11. I'm of the opinion that the shocking 1st half where we barely raised a whimper lost us the game; not the umps. still hate'm though

Why has it taken so long to get to the AFL site, I thought that it was normally next day?
  13. I guess the argument would be that if we become known as a major sporting club (a long bow to be sure) Collins Street is a pretty good place for passing tourist trade to drop in for merch.
  14. Mum, my brother and I all went out to Western oval and stood behind the NE goal. We watched in exactly the same way as the rest of you multi tasking between all the relative games. At the end when it became apparent that we were into the finals the crowd went crazy sweeping all of us towards the front of the terrace. My poor (very small) mum got dragged along, tripped over and wound up sitting on her behind. All of us were laughing and crying and generally leaping around like crazy people. It wasn't until the dust had settled that we realized that Mum had broken her ankle! It certainly made a good story at my wedding a month later when my very non footy in laws were asking why Mum was on crutches. The rest of the finals series was like a dream/nightmare for me. The North Game was indeed the best game of footy I have ever seen our guys play with the Swans game not too far behind. The Preliminary Final left me like everyone else in tears. The lasting memory of those smug sc$%mbag Hawthorn supporters gloating at the end taught me to hate them more than any other club. Let's hope that when our time comes around again we can take that next step. Go Roosy but thanks Swooper!
  15. the crowd needs to bark whenever the pigdog gets the ball!
  16. is there a contributor on a hawthorn fan forumsomewhere bemoaning HFCSS?
  17. So sad for him and his family Vale DB
