  1. You need to stop the Bulltish about propping up the Dees. Its garbage The AFL has an uneven draw which kills clubs that don't get Friday night games , blockbusters and marquee times. Carlton haven't played at Kardinia park since 1998 I believe. We have been the home team against Essendon twice in the last 10 or 11 years as an example. Stadium deals also kill a lot of clubs. We play the G with 20,000 and we lose money. The cats with 20,000 make $500k. West Coast spend $300k a week more than melb because their stadium deal sees than get all the corprate box revenue, all the advertising revenue and a large cut of the food and bev revenue. The AFL recognise these imbalances because of the nherently unequal nature of the competition hence the equalisation fund. It is NOT proping up Melbourne and anyone that suggests it is should rightly be shot down in flames.
  2. The reason GWS and GC are in existence is simple and twofold. I have said it before and I'll say it again. 60% of the advertising revenue in Australia comes from NSW and Southern QLD. Rugby league viewing stats (in around 2008 when the decision was made to expand the AFL) had the NRL holding around 8 of the top 12 viewed sports programs excluding the Beijing Olympics). The AFL, on order to make theirs the pre-eminent national product for advertisers, needed greater exposure on those two regions. They were given a solid head start because the AFL did not want to see the Brisbane Bears reincarnated. They wanted a competitive team quickly. This has happened with GWS but GC seems to have stuffed it up. All the clubs agreed to it and to the concessions. We have 9 games a week which is why TV revenue drives outcomes. IN 2011 braodcast rights were around $1.25bn. In 2016 these rights were around $2.5bn. Be in no doubt that this show is driven by TV money and not by 'real fans'.
  3. Nah , Just a normal lens.
  4. It's like the Yeti monster though, difficult to capture on camera....
  5. Not all of them. There were many elderly citz there when the futile protests started.
  6. Lucky its just training....
  7. How can you tell from those photos?
  8. Petracca looks like he has had 'cupping' on his quads. What is that likley to do?
  9. Fact is in 2017 we were: 18th in defensive one on ones 18th in opposition scoring from 50m entries. We were also monstered by guys like Brown, Hawkins, Daniher etc. Our defence is very vulnerable. The club knows this and Lever is clearly there to help us improve on this. There will be a multitude of strategies to deal with improving our defence including improving individual performances. Hibberd and jetta are not infallible but are AA quality. So is Lever. Frost and OMAC are the clear weak links that oppositions try to exploit. How the coaching staff manage/improve these two will go a long way to to ensuring our game style is fit for finals.
  10. I see a resemblance here.....Brother & sister??
  11. "We have locked away some very important deals over the last few years (in particular EnergyWatch) that now underpin our sponsorship revenue," Cringe.
  12. Doesn't make sense. Are you saying Collingwood has a store in the CBD? I don't think so....
  13. He didn't do that in 2017.
  14. Yes. If you ring Visa to say that the David Jones $100 bill on your credit card is not yours they say "No problem TPF39, we'll take that off your account". They also withhold the money from David Jones. So DJ's lose the goods. DJ's then have to prove it was the legitimate owner of the card that purchased the goods in order for them to get paid. If they can't do that they lose. Its why Visa, Mastercard and the banks cound't care less about CC fraud. They don't lose a cent.
  15. "Topics" plural....
  16. Well this is actually a poor argument RL. It is not a victimless crime or as you seem to portray 'the big ugly banks'. Yes in many cases the bank will reimburse the credit card holder but not always. And a lifetime of trust that goes because some numnuts steals your belongings takes a lot longer to get over. You also have the merchants , who in this case are ladies of the night. They do not receive the money for services rendered as the banks rip the money from the merchant account. What about their rights? There is also the possibility that the persons identity is now in the hands of nefarious people and identity theft is a much more sinister enterprise that in some cases you cannot resolve and causes a lifetime of pain as someone takes loans out in your name etc. It's hard to have sympathy for someone in Sylvia's position. Personally I have none. It's probably a good thing that you do but I am with ET on this one.
  17. Or.. "if he only he can have a good pre-season"......
  18. Surely you wouldn't be alluding to ..........???
  19. Thanks Georgey Best! A great line...
  20. The wrist slashing on here about sponsorship is astounding. The club under Peter Jackson has done an amazing job. Sponsorship is hard. It's slow dance with uncertain outcomes and difficult negotiations. Yet some here think the club should update members every 2 seconds about why they haven't filled a sponsor position. These people frankly have no idea how difficult it is. There aren't 100 sponsors waiting in the wings to throw $2-3m a year at the club. Well done to the admin of our club. Quality sponsor.
  21. Sure but aren't you saying he is unlikely to make it given the amount of time he has missed as a junior?
  22. That won't be good for the Weid then...
  23. Really? Wow. That would be a great headline. "players squib boot camp, coach resigns"
