  1. He'd be happy with a new ute, a McDonalds gift voucher and a drinks card at 21st Century in Frankston...

I am not an OMac fan but he was OK on the weekend. His shortcomings are different to Frost and in a way polar opposite. He is slow, particularly reaction time but also turning circle. He has little physical presence - although his Darling tackle was a ripper - and is often fumbly. He was lucky not to have given away a free at a critical time to Venebles I think when he fumbled the mark and then tried to duck the tackle in the 4th. Could have been so much worse. Oscar's disposal is pretty good Frost on the other hand is very quick, physical, can take a solid mark and makes life difficult for good forwards as he is difficult to play on. Disposal and decision making are his two biggest weaknesses and the club has been trying to limit these telling him in effect to give the ball off straight away by hand where possible. A combination of the two would be perfect and the question is when Lever returns who gets the gig alongside him. there isn't room for all three IMO. It might be match ups that determine it. Against the Swans Frost did well on Buddy and OMac was pretty reasonable on McCartin.
  3. Still my fav piece of Clarrie action!
  4. Seems to get involved in a scragging contest at every centre bounce now. Not happy with that...

Competed very well today. Just what he needed to do. Halved or won most of his contests.

Lewis is still contracted for next year isn't he? That means he will still be in the cap.

Plus the upfront payments. Players like Fritsch for example who would be on base pay of say $100k for 2 years, you might say we'll pay you $200k this year and nothing for the next year.
  10. jnrmac replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just like we did years ago we paid some contracts in advance which clears up space in future.

So having not followed the tribunal hearing was it 9 down to 8? is impact not taken into consideration? Buggy would have every right to feel aggrieved. Or did the 'good guy'' defence play out as vs a ''serial pest?'

Tom Bugg is the anti-Christ compared to Andrew Gaff or so it would seem from the comparative media coverage....
  16. jnrmac replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
And Bugg got 7 reduced to 6 because had had a clean record.
  17. jnrmac replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
OK so you are being facetious. I get it now.
  18. jnrmac replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
So you think it less than Bugg's punishment?

How is Jack Watts doing this year?
  20. jnrmac replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Do you understand English? Even if you are right (and you're not by a long way) there is a huge difference between providing a defence of someone's actions and condoning them. Wow.
  21. jnrmac replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
    oh dear....
  22. jnrmac replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
@Bobby McKenzie I have just read every one of @McQueen's posts on the topic. You made this up. In fact he specifically states he does not condone the actions. Best you just withdraw your statement for the fake news it is and apologise to McQueen.
  23. jnrmac replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
You made the statement that posters were almost condoning the thuggery and I said bull shite. Because it is. No one here has done that.
  24. jnrmac replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Seriously, what Bull Shite. Fake news. Name and shame them. I'll wait.

The hysteria over what should happen to Gaff is absurd, Just as it was with Bugg. Appalling hit and will be dealt with harshly, as it should be. Starting point 6 weeks as that is what Bugg got and Mills played the following week. Bugg wasn't looking at Mills when he lashed out whereas Gaff was looking straight at him. nonetheless I don't believe either was intentional and both players have never been suspended before (despite some nuff nuffs here saying Bugg was a "serial offender".) But people make mistakes and that is what this is. A very bad one. He should do the time and that is it. No need to destroy his character. The fallout on bugg in my view was disgraceful largely because he was viewed as a pest and our club abandoned him. Gaff is a golden haired boy so will be interesting to see the comparison from media and club. Posters trying to turn this in to 'he should be charged by the police' , 'society needs to set an example' blah blah and those saying 'he should never come to Melbourne' are making stupid comments. We play a physical sport and players tread a fine line with agression every time they run out onto the track. This incident (as well as Buggs) step well and truly over that line and need to be dealt with harshly, but in the context of a physical contact sport. Finally those saying 'Gaff will need to reconcile with Angus if he comes to melbourne' really need to think before posting. Gaff already plays with Angus' brother Hamish. On the field stuff happens. It doesn't mean its right but get some reality. There are two young men here that will be suffering over this. Clearly most of the sympathy is with a young first year player who has suffered hugely. But lets have some perspective and not forget that Gaff will be remorseful and will suffer long term consequences as well.
