  1. I posted a while back that our 3rd qtr stats are outstanding. The number 1 team for the year. That says to me the coaching staff are able to make the necessary changes, reinforce the messages, get the team back on track if needed or counteract the opposition moves. That is a very good sign that the coaches can identify what needs to be done and impart the right messages and moves. It also seems that we have tightened up measurably since the Sydney game to mostly one on one footy - none of the no wings, or 2 behind the square for the bounce etc.
  2. Ablett is now soft as butter. No CPs in the first half. Avoided all contact and sat out the back getting cheap handballs or ran fwd of the ball looking for a chip kick. The Holy Trinity BS has failed.
  3. He was on the bench for around 16mins at the start of the 3rd qtr from memory. They were saying on MMM that he was itching to get back on but because of the lack of goals and where the ball was being played they couldn't get a rotation ....Seems to have worked out OK....

    Like Tom Lynch..........
  5. His kick to Melksham for a goal was superb and penetrating
  6. Who are you again? When did we entertain trading Weideman? (If you are going to troll best to get the spelling right)
  7. Just pure garbage sorry.
  8. Seems to have clear instructions to run to the front of the pack.
  9. Just pure garbage sorry.
  10. He's coming 4th in the D'Land player of the Year and people want to trade him??? Pffft Muppets
  11. Context though. Ignore last year. He is playing a different game now and we have TMac up fwd. If you look at Melbourne's contested marks inthe fwd line I would hazard a guess they are miles above the past few years. Variation and unpredictability about our fwd line are possibly more valuable than a stay at home forward.
  12. I think that was the exception rather than the rule. I don't think he has ever been a great contested mark.
  13. Hogan has a great footy IQ. Always thinking and is very good with chip kicks, tap ons etc.
  14. He'd be happy with a new ute, a McDonalds gift voucher and a drinks card at 21st Century in Frankston...

I am not an OMac fan but he was OK on the weekend. His shortcomings are different to Frost and in a way polar opposite. He is slow, particularly reaction time but also turning circle. He has little physical presence - although his Darling tackle was a ripper - and is often fumbly. He was lucky not to have given away a free at a critical time to Venebles I think when he fumbled the mark and then tried to duck the tackle in the 4th. Could have been so much worse. Oscar's disposal is pretty good Frost on the other hand is very quick, physical, can take a solid mark and makes life difficult for good forwards as he is difficult to play on. Disposal and decision making are his two biggest weaknesses and the club has been trying to limit these telling him in effect to give the ball off straight away by hand where possible. A combination of the two would be perfect and the question is when Lever returns who gets the gig alongside him. there isn't room for all three IMO. It might be match ups that determine it. Against the Swans Frost did well on Buddy and OMac was pretty reasonable on McCartin.
  16. Still my fav piece of Clarrie action!
  17. Seems to get involved in a scragging contest at every centre bounce now. Not happy with that...

Competed very well today. Just what he needed to do. Halved or won most of his contests.

Lewis is still contracted for next year isn't he? That means he will still be in the cap.

  22. jnrmac replied to McQueen's topic in Melbourne Demons
Plus the upfront payments. Players like Fritsch for example who would be on base pay of say $100k for 2 years, you might say we'll pay you $200k this year and nothing for the next year.

Just like we did years ago we paid some contracts in advance which clears up space in future.
