  1. I personally believe Melbourne do very well physically considering the amount of under developed bodies we have out on the park every week.
  2. 6.Jamar 5.Davey 4.Miller 3.Bennell 2.Trengove 1.McDonald Apologies to many others.
  3. Ventured to the Leighoak myself and enjoyed dinner and the game amongst a good crew of Demons supporters.Staff there weren't expecting the amount of people(even though there weren't tons) however were very accomodating.Supporters there were very noisy especially towards the end and made for a great atmosphere.Very enjoyable! Only downside for me were a few "doom and gloom" supporters that you get at every MFC game ,bitching and moaning when Port were making there comeback. One woman in particular was bagging Melbourne players throughout the game at their lack of skills.I think she must have been a triple Brownlow medalist herself however I didn't recognise her as being in the AFL Hall of Fame.
  4. It was interesting observing the Non battle beween Jack Watts and Nic Natanui at the MCG on Saturday. On one hand Nic Natanui a bigger, stronger, more experienced player from my observation took 2 spectacular marks and got some tap outs but apart from that did absolutely f@#K all.The way the media, especially Bruce McAvaney bangs on about him youd reckon he had the Brownlow sewn up about 3 weeks ago. On the other hand Jack Watts took a couple of strong contested marks, showed a lot of poise and is a very good kick with both feet.Although he also didn't get a ton of the footy ,I thought he outshone Nic Nat and is the much better option IMO. Yes,Nic Nat is an outstanding athlete, however Jack Watts is also a good athlete and has class footballer written all over him. Jack Watts > Nic Natanui.Good choice MFC recruiting department.!
  5. Can't say I agree on some! VERY harsh on Jones who I thought worked very hard , especially early , before he took a heavy knock.Green did pretty well,Scully got plenty of it but made a few judgement errors,Watts looked a little lost at times but I very much liked a couple of his contested marks. He WILL be the answer up forward.I also think Bennell has the makings of a very good player. The major issue was the overuse of handball and inability to hit targets when we did eventually kick it.Even though we looked flat and played poorly we were still in the game for the most part.Something to learn from.
  6. I'm with you! I have no problem with having a female commentator ,it's her annoying, phony sounding voice that gives me the sheites. As far as Andrew Maher goes , A1 Farkwit! Happy with Luke Darcy and like Malcolm Blights insight.
  7. Does anyone know where Tapscott is at with his rehab? What about Gawn? How far from playing would he be?
  8. Gys will probably play before the year is out,but if he doesn't then that is ok also as he is still young and undernourished. What has happened to Fitzpatrick? Is he injured? Also,is Blease going around at the moment? I'm looking forward to seeing Tapscott in action when he is fit as I believe he has the body development to make an immediate impact and he has one of those wonderful NRL shaped "Granite Heads".A tough looking customer for an 18 year old!
  9. This idea was floated at "The Demon Summit" a couple of years ago and obviously "didn't grow any legs".It has some merit IMO.It would be good to see (and it doesn't have to be the Melbourne City Council) MFC convincing as many businesses as possible that have Melbourne in their name to adopt the red and blue colours. Then the identity Melbourne would be etched in the public's minds with an association to the Red and Blue colours.
  10. What about his efforts on Peter Giles,Stephen Smith,Neville Bruns ?
  11. Bring Martin in to pick up Tippet? Tippet usually has a day out against Melbourne.
  12. I personally thought Bennell played pretty well against Collingwood. He may have not gone as hard as he could at one contest but was pretty good for the rest of the game. Based totally on form in the Collingwood game I thought Bate ,Scully and Strauss didn't have the best games. However I doubt any of these will be dropped for the game against Adelaide.
  13. A liitle of the topic. Ok , a lot of the topic , but does anyone think that Travis Johnstone is looking a little bit more Muslim every day with that beard peculiarity that he has got going on ?
  14. I thought you were describing Travis Cloke for a minute there.Anyway, any Melbourne players looking to man up Travis Cloke need look no further than the wing or very wide out on one of the flanks.Doesn't like any heavy traffic areas.
  15. When do Casey play next and against whom? Very much looking forward to seeing Tapscott play this year.Any guesses as to when he might be available?
  16. Less handball in the backline to stationary targets that are covered by opposition players would be a good start. There is a reason it is called football!
  17. Way too much focus on the perennial "whipping boy" Miller! Seems some posters think that if the MFC moved Miller on that all MFC woes would be over and we would fly up the ladder somehow. Miller certainly has his limitations however has many strong qualities that are of value to the MFC and that the coaching staff recognise. There are just way too many threads about Miller ,filled with posters constantly bagging him. What is the value in this negative fixation with Miller? Move on!
  18. Maybe debating who had the younger group out of the two teams is largely irrelevant.Which team had the better quality players out on the park is probably a better point for argument ?
  19. Yeah ,but you could give Warnock or Frawley a go up forward, at least at the start of the game to change things up a bit. Miller has played down back before earlier in his career and done a pretty good job.
  20. I think Todd Viney would be a big chance to be the next coach of MFC.He would have plenty of supporters to get the gig including: Jimmy,Garry Lyon,CC How would he go coaching his son? Could be awkward for them.
  21. If you are going to drop players I would be looking at dropping players that aren't putting in the effortrequired before I would be looking at Miller,Bate etc. At least if you're having a go you are encouraging your team mates to do the same.Bate seemed under done and as we know is capable of playing some pretty good football when fit.I would certainly play him again this week as he needs to get more game time under his belt. For this week IMO the players need to make a committment to each other before the game to have a real dip at winning the football and winning the ball back if they lose it.If they make a bunch of mistakes so be it ,but at least they wont feel they have let anyone down (Coach, supporters, club, each other)if they come out with some fierce determination and effort. Miller playing down back has some merit and instruct him to crash some bodies. We can't just surrender meekly to Collingwood this week. Our team needs to set some performance standards. I would also think about having someone man mark Swan as he provides a lot of drive for Collingwood. What do others think and who could do the job? Could Bartram do it?
  22. Totally disagree! I believe and have for a little while that Green is starting to really stand up as a leader at the club and if the Club Captaincy was up for grabs , Green would be the player I would be looking at to lead.
