  1. If you are physically capable of tackling being a major part of your game I agree.Works well for St. Kilda! I have my doubts that an extremely young and physically slight side like Melbourne are going to be one of the major tackling sides in 2010.That's not to say the team shouldn't work to be the best they are capable of at this skill.
  2. I agree that the tackling and pressure needs to be lifted and I'm sure the coaching staff do to.Tackling stats can be a little misleading ,young slender bodies are going to have a harder time holding the tackle or in fact comitting an effective tackle. Also because you have less tackles than the opposition may not mean you have lost the game.It could mean you have more possesion of the ball and are controlling the game.
  3. Agree regarding Morton ,good call, he is a quality player with plenty of improvement to come. The players that stood out to me in the game against Freo were: Morton,Frawley,Joel Mac,Junior,Green and Scully.I think Morton could be a reasonable option up forward, however he needs quite a bit more body size to hold down CHF permanently. Whilst it was an average performance by the Dees ,it is hardly panic stations and with a few more tough practice games they will get more used to making decisions under pressure and will become better at hitting their targets in these situations. On a couple of other points: I don't think Jurrah is able to be the main focus/target up forward (This is probably stating the bleeding obvious!) and I would like to see Miller get back the agression from his earlier days.If he cops a couple of holidays here and there ,so be it. Hopeful of a much better performance against Essendon on Saturday! We have a great club!
  4. Raise whatever questions you like but be wary of morphing into a membership card tearing Richmond supporter after Round 1 of a NAB cup game.
  5. It's early days. In fact game 1 of the pre season cup. Let's keep things in perspective. So we lost by 40+ points to Fremantle at Subiaco with a far less experinced team than they had on the park. We got some invaluable AFL game experience into some of our top line youngsters.Doesn't sound too bad to me!
  6. If we are to employ Scully as a tagger , being a physically under developed 1st year player ,which of the opposition players that he is going to tag are going to be unable to break through his tackles?
  7. Excellent Post! Agree wholeheartedly.
  8. How does this "Subs" business work?
  9. Here's one for Wayne Jackson! Port Power should merge with the Adelaide Crows.I'd love to see that floated in the newspapers.
  10. I think we should be able to cover the loss of "al".
  11. Can't say I agree with your comments. What's being missed here is that Jack is just a young kid who is probably still another 6-8 kgs too light to play the postion he is expected to play.He also has the normal maturity of someone his age. I believe it will only be fair to judge him when he has a man's body and the maturity that a couple of seasons at the MFC will bring along with 20 to 30 games under the belt. Sometimes the expectations of supporters on these very young and under developed recruits borders on ridiculous regardless of what pick they were drafted! Being No. 1 draft pick doesn't guarantee you a mature body or mind! These guys are just normal kids.
  12. I don't believe there are any games that are "No Chance" and I hope to god the team never goes out on to the park thinking this way.I would recategorise the "No Chance" category to "Unlikely". You never know what injuries will hit Geelong,Adelaide,Brisbane Lions and St Kilda when we play them or what attitude they will run out onto the ground with. I also think your over rating the Brisbane Lions.
  13. Off the topic a little I know but: When does the club usually play intra club matches in the lead up to the NAB cup ? They must be getting close.
  14. One of the best things about the 2010 season is that everyone(supporters and coaching staff) will all be on the "same page" and wanting the team to win.(This is never an issue for players who always play to win.) That's what I am most looking forward to in 2010.Along with the excitement of watching the MFC young talent develop. It's going to be one hell of a ride!
  15. Must agree with Hardeman , he was exceptional.Other good ones were Steven Icke.Alan Jarrot(tough as nails!),Ingerson,Laurie Fowler,Brett Lovett.
  16. No matter what is reported there is always a doomsayer from the "Glass is half empty" set. Good news is good news ,let's leave it at that. It's okay to feel happiness once in a while.
  17. Dont forget the MCC alliance as well, that was a pretty big one!
  18. Whilst the team is in the rebuilding stage one of the priorities is to get game time into the younger players. In this case Bradshaw would have been taking game time off other younger forwards and as the club is not in the position to challenge for a premiership at the moment ,what would be the point in picking up Bradshaw?
