The skill level and competitiveness of the team definitely improved from 2008 to 2009.The team was not far off the mark on quite a few occasions in 2009 as opposed to being nowhere near the mark on many occasions in 2008. The next couple of seasons will be the indicator of whether we have the right coaching staff in place and they can only be judged properly if the club has a decent run with injury over those seasons.

It's a good point you make Hightower! Whilst there is no doubt there was some creative field placings and resting of players in games last season ,something that can't be questioned is the effort given by the players. They go out to win every game and give 100% therefore for people to say the team "Tanked" is unfair to the players who certainly didn't.

I don't think Jeff White was that happy with the way he was exited from the MFC therefore I think it would be a bit early for him to return.

Why would Scully train wearing a watch? Or was he not really training? Guys in the photos look in pretty good shape.

There seems to be a lot of hype about Emma Quayle's opinion on this and that and I'm sure she is pretty well informed. I would however put more weight to the opinions of coaches ,recruiting officers and ex players than to those of journalists that have unlikley played or coached the game. Male or female.

Define conquering the world! This would be a subjective opinion wouldn't it ? I think the Demons were defnitely conquering the world in the 1950's!

Warnock leads by example on the field coming out the backline and I thought was a good suggestion by "The Master". Could be a good addition to the leadership group and worth considering.

I think if he can start coverting a few more chances in front of goal he will be sticking around for a while longer.

Got to agree! Miller as a rule always gives 100% ,competes well ,leads strongly ,wants the football and does all the team things. Obviously his kicking for goal lets him down and I think it is a confidence thing.He needs to be given a set routine when kicking for goal which will calm him down a bit. At present he flips the ball around too much when he comes in to kick for goal and that is a nervous habit in my opinion. The constant Miller bashing on these boards is just a mob mentality really. At the end of the day it's what the coaching staff think of Miller that is important.

I believe Luke Ball was in the PSD plans for the MFC but not the ND plans.I think this was stated many times. Anyway ,enough of Luke Ball! He is ancient history as far as Melbourne recruiting goes and it's getting tiresome talking about him! Let's Luke ahead and be proud of the players we DID pick up and of our recruiting staff!

Some ongoing good things happening at the MFC. The glass is "half full" at the moment and definitely rising!

Must admit I am struggling to think past the National Draft (Bring it on!) let alone to something that may or may not take place in some 8 years time or so.

I would like to see Scully get number 31 and Trengove get number 9.

I might as well have a go at this although I must admit I don't have much idea past the early picks: 1.Scully 2.Trengove 11.Black 18.Carlisle 34.Gawn 50.Magic Door PSD. Patrick Whatever happens on draft night ,it will be "Party Time!" for the Demons and the faithfull.

Looks good but I would swap positions with Magic Door and Grimes2. I wouldn't be unhappy if we took Black at 11.

Jack Watts will be a gun and be proven as a very astute choice by the MFC recruiting department. I'm very glad the recruiting department has the patience and foresight that is required to peform there job well. If the recruiting department were "panic merchants" like half the posters on the forums , our list would be a real mess! Do you think this "must have results now" shortsighted mentality is a Demons supporter thing that is ingrained in us or do you think it is common across all supporters?

If MFC pick up Luke Ball great.If we don't that is Ok too. I'm more excited about the prospect of picking up Scully,Trengove and maybe a couple out of Black,Carlisle,Talia,Tapscott,Vardy,Butcher etc. I really hope the club doesn't use pick 11 or 18 on Luke Ball and focusses on the bigger picture ,which is what they will do as they have held this line the whole way through over the last couple of seasons.
