  1. Dear Dappa Dan, I hope have watched the endeavours of the melbourne football club closely over the year 2009. Playing players out of position in order to maximise ones future prospects.... in other words T*nking..... please please please tank kind regards from the Prawn Trawlers, Allen Jako Although if i remember correctly you smashed the bejesus out of me with a bang up job by Sandilands, who hopefully for me remains on the sidelines - i may still have a sniff
  2. yep i think my seasons done mathematically a chance but no. must beat DL7 and dappa in my final 2 games and hope like hall that snomeD falls to both deevoted and OMR. unlikley. mathematically will not be chance after this week Just goes to show first round draft picks make or break you - Brian Lake sounded soooo much better in march!!! stoopid chronic knee for scullz..... atleast i got Cox cheaply. still going well for the brownlow Just wondering for next year - grandfather clause? teams get kept and topped up with fresh draft at the start of next year? or brand new draft?
  3. Watch out for Frank Schleck tonight. Andy being the foil to set up for big brother. Thought it was going to be the other way. Andy surely must have not much left in the tank after that. Big big final day in the Alps coming up. Should be some fireworks especially on the Galibier, then obviously we'll see who has anything left come Alp D'Huez. Cannot wait.... Really think that Le Tour is the best sporting event to watch (minus watching the dee's obviously!!)
  4. Jeremy Howe surely must be known as "Gordie" after the ice hockey player Gordon 'Gordie' Howe, Bart simpson used his name in a few episodes to make him famous
  5. JT for mine. 'Good times' Grimes may have straight laced leader written all over him, but you get the feeling from the snippets of Col Garland and Ricky bobbies articles that good times may just be too serious for the calling. He might end up a bit like Sam Mitchell - deadset gun however the 'spiritual leader' in Hodge was the real captain and has now been named. I reckon JT may end up the 'spiritual leadr' of this gorup coming through. don't know why just do. plus he's just an all out all round gun
  6. Watching the warm up - was confident all week till now. They are much much more physically developed than us. Just a little concerned about the boys versus men scenario now
  7. Umpires..... I hate 'em. Gone beyond bad. Outright cheats. Mind you we're not helping ourselves either..
  8. Woohoo.... back in the winners list Now for all my injured, suspended and out of form guns to start their return
  9. jurrah 258 sampi 256 voted for Jurrah just coz.. reckon Winston Abrahams was an absolute ripper - just a freak one, best of the lot for pure freakishness. Sampi's looks great due to the extra kick up he gets of Wheaters!. Jurrah's is text book perfect. poor Garry Lyon looked very dirty after copping the Wiz's boot in his back. Darryl white doing the scissor high jump technique... freaky as well
  10. post #138 gotzy. And yes it specifically mentions Goodes......
  11. All good LDC, i probably get asked something on this every other day at work. Proprioception is our knowledge of where are body parts are in space. Our brain processes information from the ligaments that direct it to where it is. That is if you bend your knee to 90 degrees, or if someone(thing) else bends your knee to 90 degrees your brain still knows where it is and therefor can compute which muscles and with how much is required to straighten it. So when a ligament is torn the information doesn't get sent, so a piece of the puzzle is missing. Other ligaments/soft tissues can overcome the lack of input. This is premise of retraining your 'balance' after a leg injury, like standing on a wobble board. Some people are naturally gifted in this area and not much retraining is needed, others need loads of it to overcome a knee or ankle injury
  12. I heard the US marines sent in J Trengove to Pakistan to kill Osama Bin Laden by Tackle..... Superman got tackled by Trengove, thats how Christopher Reeve ended up a Paraplegic.... The AFL acted on behalf of the US government, prior to playing for the dees, he was employed by Saddam Hussein as the WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION.... /ok thats enough now.....
  13. depending on MRI reports No. The PCL is injured by shin to shin contact at centre bounces. If he has a month off to train his proprioception he still won't have the PCL. No less risky than returning to play in a month or a year or ever. Just dependent on muscle control, swelling and pain. If there is another injury underlying things as well ie secondary meniscal tear then that would need either healing time or a clean up scope.
  14. Just to throw a spanner in the works of the wrist slashing that is going on.... It is possible that Jamar, the big Russian, may actually line up this week. His PCL is torn by the reports - as far as knee mechanics go - it isn't required to function well. So, if the doc's and physios can get the swelling out of the knee and have him pain free he can play. The problems lie in how well his muscles keep him stable, Rush has some pretty bloody big leg muscles which may not need too much in the way of extra training and proprioceptive input. There is a chance he won't miss any games. I think i recall Goodesy not miss any when he ruptured his PCL, however they moved him out of the ruck and onto the wing. This may be a good reason as why he isn't on the injury list. Just some thinking music for all.....
  15. Scully was and is a gun Trengove, although good at the carnival, stormed into calculations almost single handedly getting Centrals (correct me if i'm wrong on that i can't quite remember the side and couldn't be assed finding it!) into the SANFL grand final - massive game in the prelim final, on that alone he would have gone 1 or 2 Martin best of the rest but with a wildcard - along with Darling had question marks over him as a loose cannon - may well be proved right in the long run, but was always going to be a gun as well. Have absolutely done the right thing with gaining TS and JT
  16. anyone know whats up with Scarlett - two weeks in a row i think without making changes due to the byes.... easy win for me over 6 or 7 opposition players. Percentage booster
  17. Its amazing how well any game plan looks on paper (or in this case on computer screen). That would win multiple premierships Freak... However the trouble is there is also an opposition team with their own game plans, as opposed to witches hats! Getting hands on the pill and being able to keep it are the major concerns. There are 3 basic systems that must be in play 1 When we have the ball 2 When they have the ball 3 When the ball is in dispute That means 3 separate game plans. Need a counter for opposition floods, man on man, clusters and now presses. As well as our own floods, man on man times, clusters and forward +/- midfield press. This cannot be done in one paragraph. This means every single player knowing his role and executing it at all times. 42 players on the list is a complicated mess at best. I wouldn't where to start trying to fill the required 50 odd page document to fully cover a 'game plan' We are currently in player development mode as opposed to team development mode, unfortunately looking at last night we need a lot more development!!!!
  18. good work Rush...... Now go make baby sons
  19. must apologize to dappa. my team were officially a rabble - no ruckmen, reserve grade backline and my star full forward didn't kick one... bloody byes. will make a game of it next time dappa.
  20. Don't worry the FD penciled in Martin for a break this week - His GPS plots had gone up so much this year they were worried about burnout. He's got a light week on the track and will be freshened for Wet Toast next week. They also thought he should go to WA early so as he can maintain the physique and sunbakeing ritual without reverting to the solarium....
  21. Good work there Barry the Cougar, see you in trident club over the coming weeks
  22. correct He also said that at present we are trying to teach each of our young players the basics of how to play, which in itself leads to somewhat of a game plan. They are currently attempting to lay the foundation for a serious tilt in 2013/14. No need to get any knickers in any knots about us not doing whatever is curently in vogue (ie forward press/ full ground press) as this will not be what wins the premiership in 3 years time. We may have moved only just from 'base camp' however there still is a bloody big mountain to climb!! Our players will be physically ready for a tilt in 2-3 years then and only then is the need to have a premiership winnign game plan in place. Until then our players physically can not cope with what is required. Young Jack Watts is the prime example - He will have a much, much bigger frame and should be a physical force when our window opens. Until then DB's mantra of 'being competitive' will do. No change of coaching staff will change this fact. Move on people
  23. Get a Tbox - every game every quarter whenever you want!! all press conferences - everything bigpond/afl website has.
  24. Bloody byes..... 4 forced changes this week GGGRRRR. Good test for depth this week. Don't think i can handle another 4-5 defeat. Be kind to me DL7
  25. All play for the dee's... All out of contract either this year or next? All potential GWS targets? All will be premiership players in 2014?
