  1. Fundingbwas - the good juju that has been applied to end the Norm Smith Curse and MFCSS once and for all.....
  2. I've come realise that he is playing better than he can! As are a few others from the footy club. I am on record here about being wrong about Pedo (as are most) but I now get that odd feeling about a bloke playing better football than his skill level warrants. His effort levels have improved dramatically as have others and this makes them better players - the bloke to thank here is Paul Roos. It seems that Roos has the knack of making players better than they are. The last coach we had that did this was John Northey - he took over a list that was definitely limited and not only got the best out them - made guys better than just there skill level. This is a rare commodity and one that all players at the footy club must sense as we supporters can sense it as well. After all the false dawns - this really does seem like the beginning of something special.
  3. Read somewhere he has been working hard on his kicking, especially set shots with one the best kicks in the league - our own Jack Watts. previous years you could count on a set shot directly in front missing badly. Not so now, amazing what a bit of confidence in ones own ability backing from coaches and teammates does. Has found a niche for himself - works. Bloody hard to get the pill and I'm quite certain he is spent or very close to it by the time he gets on the end of the chain. He will get better
  4. Bloody. Umpires. Even after a win I' m fuming. It's not the one's they pay it's the blatant ones that never ever go our way. I can't believe how few of our tackles which stuck beautifully on guys with prior opportunity and fail to dispose of the ball in a legal timely manner get paid. Would love to sit down and watch the game with the entire umpiring panel to be informed why things are paid and why they're not - just infuriating Having said that and with everything going against us - just enormous all round. Pedo, Howe, watts, Viney, Tyson, jamar, Chunk - huge games. Cross, Vince, Gawn, Dawes great stuff cameo's everywhere -Bail, m jones, toump, Salem, Jkh, all went when it was their turn. Enjoy a few beers tonight boys and a few days off, then get your [censored] back together quickly as the second half of the season has just been set up. 1 game out of the 8 it is possible for the fairy tale run
  5. Ahhhh medicinal wine.... Helps everything As the saying goes - Alcohol....the cause and cure of all life's woes
  6. Don't think Pigdog will be the sub - mature aged recruit, turning it on the last few weeks. Yes he missed a good chunk of preseason but has done a solitary preseason building up to his vfl debut. Hard mature body that will last the full game. Reckon unfortunately for the kid it'll be Salem again and then a return to the magoo's to build match fitness and come home the last 6-8 games for full games. And Toumpas to come in for the same treatment when he goes back down. Build the base and not overwork the kids that haven't necessarily got the tank or mature body to last full games and full seasons - get them right to have a long fulfilled career. None if this gifting games and hoping the bodies build while the kids are getting smashed
  7. Keep a look out for the NSW/ACT team this year - they knocked off Vic Country in a 'praccy match' a few weeks back impressive form in anyones languuage.
  8. As an 18-odd year old I had the pleasure of teaching T-Shirt Tommy while he was going for his Bronze medallion in the early nineties, tommy was about 60 and seriously fit then! Was an absolute ripper of a bloke just keen to learn and better himself constantly - just an all round inspirational person. Will be missed by all that knew him
  9. Gotta goal when you get your chance. We had all the play in the first quarter - they break the lines twice and get goals that never looked like missing. We had multiple half chances that didn't get close. A dodgey free kick to Crameri, a lot that once again weren't paid our way - although up until the Crameri one and the Williams free for Cross "sliding into his leg" looked like a kick to the head to me and should have been a free to Cross. Thought the Umpiring was generallyuch better tonight - no crappy holding the balls when the bloke has zero chance of getting it out. Dawes should get about 20 more frees for being held, arms getting chopped and being blocked. Speaking of blocking the one against frawley for holding his ground and then turning onto the ball was a shocker as well. 3 howlers against us is a much better result from the umpires - would be good to get a couple our way for a change
  10. Just had an out of interest look at the Tuesday morning flights leave at 6.30am yep awesome - arrive at Hobart 11.20.... WTF! where the hell can you stop between Tulla and Hobart - King Island perhaps and hitch a ride on the Abel Tasman for the second half of the trip! No get out of jail option for you Nasher - I reckon the TV is your best go this year
  11. Game finishes at 6 bolt to Richmond station train to spencer st - get there by 6.30 cab from spencer st will be at airport 7.15. Public holiday traffic - only issue is getting away from the G. I'd do it (actually maybe not the missus would deadset kill me if I missed it)
  12. I think I like the thought of this Black - tyson Voss - jones Aker - Vince/ toump Lappin - Salem Power - Viney Lynch - Dawes Brown - Hogan
  13. Sometimes I log in as a guest just to see the ladies who want to meet and marry me, and the cougars who "live near me".......
  14. Surprised Georgiou isn't having the week off, could do with a rest after a combination of preseason, first 7 rounds as a first year player and then running into the pitbull last week. Not sure if running around in the magoo's will freshen him up properly
  15. After watching it again last night ( 3rd time in full I might add )still can't believe they didin't pay Ro Bails grab - that was a dead set belter. Add him to the list with Pedo and Jetta - I was wrong you can actually play footy
  16. I think the bloke your looking for is Simon Black, you just don't notice them racking up the possies - dishing it out with absolutely no fuss at all. Vossy, Aker, Lappin and Power all benefitted majorly from Blacky doing what he does best. Dom has a similar build and skill set - can't wait to see what he could do with a couple of full preseason's injury free
  17. Gee wiz, officially gone now. I'm hoping that our legal department put in a clause about not nominating for the draft at seasons end or next season as we'll for that matter, not sure why but I've still got a yucky feeling that he'll bob up elsewhere. Must be case of severe MFCSS.
  18. Have turned a full circle on Pedo - was good lead hard, chased hard put his body on the line many many times, good strong 2nd and 3rd efforts - was impressed with the big fella. If only he did this in his first game last year - Neeld would have been hailed a master! On reflection good thing he didn't! Watts Howe - need a rocket up their backsides big time Was overall happy with the game, not so much the final score but the effort was there - had they turned up that way against GC a win was definitely there to be grabbed. Just need to find an avenue to goal - Hogan may help if he can get onto the park, Watts and Howe might be useful if they can work out how actually play [censored] football and not 3/4 pace circle work without opposition. Umpiring evenly and getting rid of this stupid holding the ball interpretation may help (although it looked like the umpires got abused at half time by the boss and changed their tune in the second half after gifting a couple to the swans) If they play with that hardness week in week out I will be satisfied, a few things to tidy up still and short of key forwards but won't be unhappy and embarrassed by them. A little more polish with the same hardness and wins will come
  19. 2 blokes with more talent than 90 percent of league level footballers - both need a good long hard look at themselves and find a way through the absolute garbage they are dishing up - not knowing them as people I wouldn't have a clue as to how the rocket up their backsides needs to happen but it does need to happen. If it's a stint in 2's great, if it's the green vest then so be it, if it's the Robert Walls style ring of fire or boxing sessions with mike Tyson I don't care. Roos needs to find whatever the spark is to get these 2 going
  20. Hawthorn are going to play Rioli back so they get a player with ball in his hands that can guide through the "gridlock" that is going to happen this year. Watts is our bloke with the silky skills to do that and accurately hit targets forward. He plays wing/outside mid - no change there
  21. Amazingly - now he is one of my boys - my dislike of Monfries has massively dissipated. Maybe I just had him tainted by the bombers brush - now he's a magpie or power person or whatever the Port Adelaidians are called these days he seems ok as a bloke. Mind you 16 kicks tonight hasn't hurt my new found love tonight either :-)
  22. Seems to be a big improvement this year with draft night strategies. Most coaches seem to have gone with a plan and somewhat stuck to it which is why everyone was happy with their squads. Only time will tell how good the strategic planning has been. Who is the Paul Roos/Ross Lyon type and who is the Mark Neeld/Michael Voss type coach - will the teams be cohesive or will they fall apart at the seams? Fun for all :-)
  23. Backs Hodge © Scotland © Laird Goodes Clisby Georgio Centres Rockliff Fife Vince Cross O'meara Whitfield Forwards Monfries Jack Riewoldt Howe Patch Adams© Robbie gray© Shane Edwards© Rucks Vickery (f) Maximus Gawn overall happy with the squad - although certainly wouldn't have nabbed Monfries (especially early as happened) without an iPad freeze (prompting the change to a laptop) although I think he's ok in the scheme of my squad. Missed on a couple after having my pockets picked but hey that happens in a draft, hopefully I can go deep into the year with this squad
