  1. WCE, Port and Brisbane have the significant home ground advantage which makes me think they'll all score another win or 2 before the seasons out. That leaves Richmond or preferably the Essendon
  2. No doubt the $$$ have an impact but there is an element of luck involved too. Generally the healthiest of the contenders at the pointy end of the season contest the big one. They better hope this isn't the calm before the storm regarding their injury list because their cup aspirations would go out the window with a couple of key players unavailable, namely Swan & or Jolly.
  3. She is annoying but not most annoying. Throw a blanket over BT, Dwayne Russell or Matthew Campbell for mine. The colour guys are even worse, Alastair Lynch and Glen Jakovich, give me a spell! I know one thing for sure though, Kelli sure is the prettiest.
  4. has he taken the 3 with the early plea? ...woops, disregard
  5. I'd like to think the 4 games we came agonisingly close to winning (Bulldogs, Collingwood x2 and Fremantle) but missed the chocolates will be won next year. We'll be better for the experince of losing from the teeth of victory particularly against good sides. I also consider it a positive that we have narrowed our serious deficiencies considerably and all are redeemable in the short term without wholesale changes to the ist or gameplan: 4 quarter competitiveness, particularly our starts Itensity against mid to low level clubs Capability to win interstate Kick in strategies, offensively & defensively. I can see only 2 serious deficiencies that may not be resolved with the personal currently on the list. A back up ruckman A key marking target inside 50 We may have the pieces to cover those last 2 but it won't be known any time soon. The good news is they could both be covered with a single recruitment, if we get it right.
  6. Obtaining a sense of heightened arousal is important but can still lead to dissappointment if not handled appropriately
  7. it's also important we get a couple of games into Maric before the seasons out so we know what we've got.
  8. I think Waite played at the weekend but i like your thoughts Mikey. Dropping a player with a big hard body like Jones with Moloney already on the sidelines is probably not a good option against the Swans. That being the case it does leave Morton an obvious exclusion. PJ definitely deserves to stay in and provides a pefect foil for Jamar against the Swans twin talls. Bruce makes errors with disposal but he is normally very clever in the one on ones and acts as a bit of a general in the D50. He is the best equipped to sum up the opportunity to drift forward and make an option without leaving us deprived of cover down back. Unfortunately his tackling and defensive marking/spoiling efforts were sub par on the weekend but for most of the year they have been good. Trengove and McDonald are important ins but i am still undecided as to who to leave out. If Moloney manages to get himself up it will make it even harder.
  9. Nicely done mattDEEmon
  10. Great yesterday but needs to put a few together. Let's see how he goes this week against the Mummy and Mike Pyke. I hear those mugs on Fox Sports yesterday (Lynch & Russell from memory) crapping on about Mumford being second ruck in the AA side. The Big Russian will have a say in that this week. Off topic but Sandilands was named in the best for the Dockers yesterday yet i can remember PJ kicking a teriffic goal out of the ruck and Jamar having a direct hand in 2 at F50 ruck contests. Reading their stats seperately isn't that impressive but I reckon as a team they definitely nullified the impact of Sandilands particularly in the second half.
  11. I thought Bennell & Johnson were excellent. MacDonald also good, backed himself to win the ball and carry it many times over. Bate was better in the second half but I agree his last 2 weeks have been poor. Unfortunately I don't think were in a position to leave him out with Petterd unavailable. Jones lowered his colours and Jurrah is only running 1 way at the moment -------------> Goal. 1 change for mine In - Trengove Out - Moloney (if ijured) otherwise Jones
  12. I agree mate. The whole team failed to fire a shot in the first 20 minutes. Not only that but once we started to work our way into the game we shot ourselves in the foot with clumsy free kicks in front of goal and thoughtless 50 metres penalties. Our starts need to be addressed. Blaming 1, 3 or 15 players for a loss is plain stupid and gets us no where. After the game Watts was clearly traumatised by the fact that he had 2 chances to win the game and failed. Mark my words he will be a better player for it. One does not appreciate success until he has tasted bitter dissappointment. He is still a boy in a man's world but he is maturing every week.
  13. Agreed, the extra man in defense didn't work but I would rather applaud his moves after qurater time and even more so after half time that allowed us to not only get back in the game but nearly pinch it. He would likely admit he got some of his tactics and match ups wrong early on but he also can't be faulted for lazy and clumsy free kicks given away in front of goal, Bruce & Jones, silly 50 metre penalties (Rivers) and thoughtless kicks from the back pocket (Bruce) again. Completely arresting the momentum of a side like Fremantle at their home gound is very, very difficult to do and from half time we no only did that but built considerable momentum of our own. The extra man in defence was not the sole reason we were blown out at the start of the game, again. Bailey reliases we need to address that part of the game but for now I personally think we have seen Bailey has the makings of a solid match day tactician, clearly something Mark Harvey is not.
  14. I wonder how long Trenners will be out? Between him being injured, Cloke getting suspended and Porplyzia getting dropped my supercoach side has taken a hit
  15. I'm with you, the logic is inexplicable.

    Rivers

Riv made a few errors early but made up for it throughout the day. I realise his opponents were sub standard but his hands were strong and confident which is good news for the side. Regarding his 2 year contract extension what else could we really do? If we offered 1 year he would have had no choice but to seek offers from elsewhere and no doubt several clubs would have been happy to offer 2 or even 3 years with 2 new sides about to enter the competition and thin out the overall class of the competition. If we didn't make an offer at all and attempted to trade him it's unlikely we would have recieved adequate compensation in the form of draft picks or players. Any quality out of contract players will be gobbled up by a cashed up GC anyway. I think the 2 year deal was the right move considering the lay of the land from 2011 to 2013.
  18. Bail's pace is excellent, was in line for a call up last week and should get the nod. Cheney to miss
  19. History suggests we'll win 1 more and it probably won't be one we'd expect. But, history is meant to be broken, 4 sounds like fun
  20. Teriffic news, hopefully it builds momentum for a big win on Sunday. Bails appears to have stamped returns for Jurrah and Sylvia so we'll likely get a glimpse of our future forward line (minus Ricky P). I am EXCITED!
  21. Based on that, one forced change seems obvious. Sylvia for Grimes. It would appear Bail, Morton and Jurrah are also close to recalls I wouldn't be against giving Scull a spell or a run in the magoos. Thought needs to be given to Spencer too, is he worth carrying against a fleet footed Essendon minus David Hille? Bringing in all 4 at once is probably overkill but adding the names Jurrah, Sylvia, Morton and Bail make for a far more attacking side.
  22. Nice work from Col. Reminds me of some of Tasmanian fast bowler Brett Geeves blogs from not to long ago. Also a funny man
  23. Hey Champ, Just noticed your avatar...sensational!
  24. Sensational read...MF is a gun. Is he still riding with the Dees or was that just in 2009?
