  1. So we'd give the saints not only Frawley, but also a pick? Yeah, noooooooo. Tell the saints to go forth and multiply. They are desperate for a key backman, they didn't get Brown, so are really up the creek. They will need to be the one's who would have to pays overs, not us.
  2. we were saying the same thing when we drafted Scully, Trengove, Gysberts and Tapscott. One took a look at our culture and got the hell out as fast as he could, one has been stuck in reverse for the better part of 2 years, one's not even getting a game at another club after being traded and the last just doesn't do anything, except for trip over a sprinkler and take 2 years to recover.
  3. Our last true on-field leader. 6 years and counting (how sad)
  4. The only player i would trade both pick 2 & Watts for would be Brad Crouch from the Crows, but given they gave so much up for him, have invested a hell of a lot of time in him, and he is starting to really show great signs, it would be impossible to achieve.
  5. This, absolutely this. We don't need Boyd, more than we need a couple of quality midfielders. That way, we never stuff up taking the wrong player with the #1 pick, we get a good young mid, as well as another 2 quality mids through the draft, or via trades. so it could look like Adams, Aish and Sheed, etc etc. or Adams, Aish and (insert quality mid in here) With Hogan to come in as well, plus our second round being high (maybe a Hartung), it could really help add to our depth of quality mids.
  6. trade pick 2? It would have to be a bloody good deal for us to do that. It is blatantly clear that we need midfielders, so we need to draft/trade for needs basis (not best available). Even if we get a high priority pick, we still need to go all out with midfielders. pick 2 + PP + 2nd round pick all need to be mids. We could draft the likes of Aish, Dunstan and Hartung with those types of picks. From past draft experiences, not all will be stars (we will be lucky to get one very good player out of them), but we need to keep on bringing in new mids and hopefully land a couple of gems. As for trading, who in their right mind would want to come to us anyways?
  7. Morton was taken at pick 4, just fyi.
  8. Of course he would have a better injury record. That would require him to put his body on the line (he took a great mark in the back line with only a minute or two to go last weekend)
  9. Why couldn't Craig become our GM of football? I think it would suit him to a tee.
  10. If Billy Hartung is available at our second round pick, we simply have to call his name out. He has really good endurance along with a great turn of foot, which seems to be getting rarer nowadays.
  11. You would have to consider it. Sure Watt's form has been better since Neeld has gone, but in his now 5th year at the club, he is yet to prove his draft status. And the more logical train of thought is, given he does better in the forward line, we have plenty of options there, yet we have very little of quality mids. Trade excess for something we lack - common sense dictates this. Would only do it if the mid is a very, very good mid with quite a few years left in his career (so not a Bernie Vince).
  12. Yep, if we are unbelievably lucky enough to receive a priority pick straight after our first rounder, i'd go for both Dunstan and Sheed as opposed to Aish and say a Billings/Kelly or Boyd. Dunstan is predominantly inside who also can damage outside with his kicking, and Sheed is devastating outside, but is more than capable right in the guts too. If both were to come in, then our midfield would include the likes of Viney, Toumpas, Dunstan, Sheed, Jones, M Jones (maybe even a Hartung if he's available in the second round). Whilst not complete, our midfield would start to be forming into a half decent one.
  13. I like the idea of drafting a mini-draft type kid, however if the afl wants to see results from such a pick sooner rather than later, then why not a pick we must trade?
  14. if we were to be given a PP after our first rounder and we decided to draft kids as opposed to trading them, then surely we'd go for midfield grunt and polish. imo it would be one of Aish/Sheed and with the other Dunstan/Crouch. I know the whole mantra of best available, but our midfield is so dire, we really do need to draft for need.
  15. Given that we are looking for a new manager of football, why not give it to Craig?
  16. If only we could go back to 2008 when Jim gave McNamee the flick, and decided to go with Stuart Fox over the bespectacled one.
  17. When our good players are on, he would fall back a bit, but at the moment, along with Nate Jones, he is our best and most consistent performer. Given our midfield is cr@p and the amount of ball into our back-line is like a tidal wave, he has held up really well. Still needs to work on his disposal though.
  18. Not a bad #2 choice to have behind Paul Roos. I believe that Choco would be more passionate as MFC coach than Roos.
  19. I'd only bring Tom Boyd to the club, if we are able to land an extra quality midfielder through free-agency or during the trade period. If not, we simply must draft midfielders.
  20. Jim Stynes will always be remembered as a hero and champion of both the MFC and mankind, but that still does not exclude him from warranted criticism. He was after all........human, and even he made mistakes. Blaspheme i know, but the truth hurts sometimes.
  21. Probably better than most on our list. (apologies if that offends)
  22. what many don't truly appreciate is that Don is wearing all the punches that are being thrown at the MFC. He's a bit like Joe Frazier in a sense, he takes the hits and just keeps on moving forwards. Hopefully when we are out of the woods (and poor old Don is bloody and bruised) he'll step aside and allow the new president to start their tenure with the MFC on a more positive level.
  23. We need to play the woe is me card (that's how bad we have gotten). You play to his heart. Tell him we need his help (which we clearly do), we have good cash to give him, and remind him how good it would feel (given he's a big Dees fan) if he is there to help the club turn around. That's all we can do. Try to remove logic out of the equation, because if that's what he goes by, we have no chance.
  24. He's got Hogan playing some bloody good football. That's enough to do it for me, lol!
  25. I'd have Roos as my first preference, but i've got just as much chance of winning the lottery (gotta be in it to win it though) - keep pursuing! Matthews - why on earth would he want to waste his retirement years with us? The best we could hope for is him king hitting all of our players at training when their backs are to him. Alistair - Honestly i think we have a better chance of securing Roos, but you never know, lol. Choco Williams - If Roos is gone and Clarko hangs up laughing, he should be the next target.
