  1. Just throwing a cat amongst the pigeons here, but if Adelaide were penalised for the current predicament they are in and as such lost say their 17yo mini draft selection from last year in Brad Crouch (amongst other things) who went back into the 2012 draft, might we take him ahead of say a Toumpas/Wines? I would.
  2. It is a hard decision to make, one that i am not envious of. But think of it this way, if we were to draft Wines (along with Viney), we wouldn't have to worry about our engine room for at least a decade!
  3. I'm not saying it is written, just that imo, we would benefit greatest with Pederson playing in the back line. He is a big unit and seems to be pretty agile and decent kick.
  4. Wrong, our backline is not the least of our worries. What if Frawley goes down? Then we are farked, as we have no one to cover for him. We still need to bring in another big KPP capable of holding down CHB. I thought Sheahan would eventually take over this role but he is gone apparently. Unless we intend to stick McDonald on an intense muscle and strength gaining program over the pre-season, he won't be ready to hold down CHB on a regular basis for a few years yet. Unless of course we intend to use Sellar there, lol. Hopefully Pederson is still on the cards and Neeld has him pencilled in for CHB, whilst the younger one's develop.
  5. Yep, Mitch starts running next week. Dawes was already in training before taking a trip to the US with his GF i believe.
  6. I reckon the AFL, after receiving many a complaint for maximum compensation given to us for HWFUA (or whatever it is) defection, would have factored it in to our FA compensation. Sure they say that they are mutually exclusive, but that's a load of BS. Maybe they figured to let off some steam at us, since they found nothing to pin against us for the "tanking" debacle. The heads of the AFL have their own agenda to run, and no process within the AFL will ever be completely independent, given the ego's and power-hungry whores that are in charge of our game.
  7. Wow, okay mate. Not McDonald's twilight years you ignoramus, the role that Scarlett played in his twilight years and the role that Fletcher has been playing for the last few seasons.
  8. He would be ready to go if a game was played tomorrow. I think his stats are now ht:188cm, wt:90kg, that's impressive any way you look at it. Do we go for skill and pace, or do we go for mongrel, tenacity, etc...? Either way we cannot lose. What type we draft this year, we will make a priority to draft the other type next year. Throw in Pederson to cover the loss of Rivers, our KPP's are looking well stocked. All we would need to worry about would be midfielders and possibly another ruckman.
  9. So you are disagreeing with something i never said? Ok then, lol. Nowhere in my post did i even compare Pederson to McDonald. But on that topic, i would put Pederson in at CHB or FB before McDonald next year, as Tom isn't physically ready yet. Pederson at 100kg is more than ready to fill the spot for a few years, until Sheahan comes in. McDonald gets somewhat overrated on these boards. Sure he had an ok season and finished very high in the B&F (but looking at our team that's nothing to brag about), but he is desperately lacking in both his decision-making and foot skills. I'm not talking elite, but he is below AFL standard by a fair margin at present. Should he fix those areas, i feel his best position would be one like Dustin Fletcher or Scarlett in his twilight years. Not taking the big KPF's, but hurting the opposition with his athletic ability and rebounding.
  10. Garland is nowhere near being a half decent KPD. He refuses to stand directly next to his opponent and puts in half arsed efforts when he has to run. He is a lazy footballer. Too bad really, because if he fixes his attitude, he could well become River's replacement as the third tall in defense. I'd partner Pederson with Frawley in the key defensive posts, with an eye to bringing in Sheahan as our long-term CHB.
  11. Rivers played as the general of our back line for many years, similar to how Bizzell did. Was a good solid backman, who always took the saving grabs. Pity, but alas we move on. One would think that Pederson will now make his way to the Dees, to play the role Riv did. If i was Garland, i'd be wanting to make sure i took over Rivers' position, or he could be finding himself in the 2's for a lot of next year, given the KPP depth we will now have.
  12. He had a great 1st quarter on the half forward line, against Adelaide in round 21.
  13. Pederson, being 193cm and 100kg (as reported on kangaroos.com.au), would be very capable of holding down a KPD role along with Chip when we play teams with a few hulking forwards. He can pinch hit in the ruck and in the forward line as well. He is similar to Martin, although he's more of a "footballer" than Martin, where as big Stef is more of an "athlete".
  14. Given that we won't have our new recruiting guy until after this year's draft, it looks like we are going after seasoned players, as we know what they can do (apart from Hogan). When the new recruiter comes in, i believe we will then look to invest through the draft, which would appear to be more mids. This is the more preferred option, as mids generally take less time to adjust to AFL than the talls.
  15. It was clear during the 2012 pre-season training reports, that Blease and Gysberts were getting driven hard by the coaches, more so than most. Blease responded magnificently and has been rewarded for his effort, he now understands what is required of him and he is willing to push himself to become a more complete player with his aim to improve his endurance and defensive running in the off-season. Gysberts has been left in Blease's dust and has fallen behind the pack a long way. Depending on what Neeld thinks, he may be too far back to catch up, resulting in him being traded or there may still be a flicker of hope yet. Ultimately, the decision has been Gysberts the entire time.
  16. Yeah, pretty hard for us to f this up. We either get Toumpas, who possess fantastic speed and skill and can rack it up, or we get Wines who is ferocious at the contest can rack it up and good skill and decision making. Either way, if we get one, we need to make it a priority to get the 'other' skill type in next years draft.
  17. What cannot be denied is that Watts is by far and away the best kick in our team. He is also a bloody good decision maker, and rarely seems to get caught with the ball, like Pendlebury, he just seems to have extra time when he has the ball. Is he what we expected for a pick #1? No. But he possesses what we severely lack and desperately need............Good disposal.
  18. Saw someone post a team with Matt Thomas on a back pocket in the page before. Not much to do with our team, but saw him at the gym i go to today. Not overly big up top, but jeez he's got some decent sized legs on him, particularly his hamstrings (which are notoriously hard to pack on size).
  19. Agree with your last bit Fence. Pederson could provide the assistance needed in the forward line next year, then move back into defense and help sure up CHB when Hogan comes in. He is the same height as Frawley and is 7 kg heavier, so is definitely capable of playing as a KPP.
  20. The best KPF's in this draft are Stringer and Mason Shaw. Shaw was behind Hogan playing for WA this year, whilst Stringer is recovering from a horrific injury (he might even be available come pick 20). GC would like the idea of spreading the age of their new draftees coming in, even if it is only an extra year (gives them greater balance). There are also big advantages in bringing a kid in a year early, in that they have an extra years development at an AFL club.
  21. Or out on the footy field either. Vlastuin's time is coming, Viney will make sure of that!!!!
  22. No, because he needs to be de-listed first.
  23. One would assume that Whitfield and Grundy will be gone by our pick (don't want Grundy anyway). That means that the likes of Toumpas, O'Rourke and Wines will be there at 3 & 4. Hopefully Toumpas is there at pick 4, making the decision all too easy.
