  1. Let's not forget that during the week, Richmond station is only accessible via the eastern end, as the western exit is closed. Distance from the southern exit of Richmond station to the likely location of our HQ for Gosch's (where the triangular patch of land is) is approx 500m. Distance from the northern exit of Richmond station to the proposed location of our HQ in Yarra Park would be approx 1 km. Crossing Punt Rd either way so busy roads is inconsequential. Yarra Park is very much apart of the MCG surrounds, whereas Gosch's is rather separate. Clearly the club wants to be as close as possible to our home (MCG), the difference of being an extra 500m in distance to be in closer proximity would probably be very acceptable. I'd rather be closer to the Tiger's Punt Rd facility (which we shared during the second world war) than the Pies base. Similar to the old MCC members stand days, where the Dees and Tigers had change rooms side-by-side coming out of the MCC, with the other's coming out of the southern stand rooms.
  2. Look at the Blues, Cats, Essendon, Hawks at both Waverly and what will be Dingley. These are relatively big clubs (bigger than ours), and none of their training bases is anywhere near as remotely close to major public transport hubs as the Jolimont site.

The one's who had previously indicated that they would vote against the merger, were the only one's that night who were asked if they wished to change their vote.

Probably the reason they are former directors and powerbrokers. We don't need loose lips destabilising our solid foundation that PJ has built. Their absence hasn't been a bad thing, let's put it that way.
  5. Not bad for a second post there witch!

apart from Pert and the three internal candidates in Mahoney, De Crespigny and Chippindall, i wonder who the fifth (other external) candidate was?

Given that it was The Australian that broke the story and everyone else was left playing catch-up, it's not a stretch to think that some media pundits will have to make some bs outlandish claims to come out of it looking ok (as opposed to sitting on their arses without a [censored] clue).

If it's got AFL backing, if [censored] hits the fan, at least we know they'd help us out. No we aren't a 'big club' nor will we ever be, but with a membership nearing 44,000 and heaps of development left in us, becoming a bigger club financially has to be a non-negotiable. Pert has shown in previous roles he is up to the challenge and isn't daunted by taking on a 'big task'. Has my approval until he [censored] up. Which hopefully won't occur.

So long as all 3 stay on, then we'll continue to have a strong off-field team in place.

We won't know if this will be a successful appointment for a few years yet, however, i much prefer a CEO with AFL experience as opposed to the likes of Paul McNamee/Tracy Gaudry coming from other sporting fields. Approved by the AFL (which is still unfortunately a necessary tick), approved by the board and the stand-out candidate in a field of 5, of which PJ would have had the biggest say. Comfortable with this decision, and what's more, it keeps Mahoney firing in his current role as Footy GM (another big tick).
  16. It's looking pretty nice at his current club too Rock.
  17. Is a wonderful representation of how good us smaller folk can be (You 6Ft+ giants have had it good for far too long)
  18. North are desperate to catch anything. They have been fishing for so long, they don't care if they reel in seaweed.
  19. No that thing was a Tigers fan.
  20. He's trying to increase the $$ in his next contract. Understandable, given his asking price would be pretty low at the moment.
  21. He came on board in January 2013, so i guess it would've been the 2013 draft.
  22. let's worry about our own signings before we got out and try and lure outside talent.
  23. that should be sehr gut bub
