what we need is another forward who can pinch hit in the ruck (like a Peter Wright). Gawn is a Ruckman who can pinch hit up forward, so a forward who can go into the ruck would compliment the list nicely. Watts is making a decent fist of it at the moment, but he is too valuable as an option up forward and we suffer as a result.

But we need to be prepared for it nonetheless, as his form this year and our subsequent midfield rise is not a coincidence. If he gets a tag, take him forward maybe? Constantly swap him and Petracca between Mid and Half Forward?

You know North will bring the effort, the question is if they can sustain it. Similarly, we need to bring the effort, and it needs to be for a full 4 quarters. Last week cannot be an aberration, it needs to become the norm if we are to move up the ladder. We have the talent, we have the desire, we know we have the work ethic. Cyril Rioli is a very dirty, weak player. He loves to dish it out, but sooks it up big time when even a feather touches him.

Unfortunately for Gus, his previous concussion appear to have caused a residual effect, whereby any knock near the head is having more of an affect than it normally would. Maybe not career ending, but definitely threatening. He needs to take the rest of the year off, no contact sport whatsoever. If he is unable to get back to a level where his head can take some form of impact, then for the betterment of his life, he should retire.

I'm just so glad that the recruiting team didn't go the safe option in Parish (who is also a good player). Clarry is something else, though.
