  1. Roos' ego is so big, that according to him, everything he did was the right way to do it. Going in an opposite direction simply means that they (in this case Goody) is wrong according to Roos. Roos was also very stubborn with his match set-ups, often making changes way too late or not at all, at least Goody is prepared to make changes and throw the team around to get something going. Sure he did wonders for our club and we desperately needed his help, but let's not forget, his last game as MFC coach was a loss by more than 100 points, so he obviously didn't do everything right. Roos knew that Watts doesn't handle negative criticism, or seemingly constructive criticism too well. With Watts it seems to be all sunshine and everything is going well, the moment clouds role in or things get a little bumpy it's time to duck for cover. This is AFL, the big league, not school or u18's footy. If you can't handle the heat get out of the kitchen.
  2. Agree McQueen. GVibes nailed it on the head. This decision is just as much about sending a message to anyone else who plays or will play for the club, talent is not enough. You are a professional AFL footballer, so act like one 24/7. How long have we bemoaned the fact that if many of these players' were in any other profession, they would've been sacked ages ago? Watts' is the epitome of all the talent in the world, yet dedication is left wanting. That is not acceptable nor good enough. Give me a team of 22 Jack Viney's (even with his limitations) over 22 Watts' any day of the week. One definitely would be more than willing to be the first to break through the wall and get bloody, the other.........well yeah. Jack Viney naturally wants to fight moment by moment, contest by contest, that will add up to getting us over the line. Watts is not committed enough to do it again and again and again. As the great Tony D'Amato says "In any fight, it's the guy who's willing to die who's going to win that inch". Watts is not that guy, nor will he ever be.
  3. That's why Hoges is there, to stop the explosion...............Duh.
  4. Maybe we are after Trengove as well. Even though he is a RFA, perhaps trading Watts will see PA not match an offer that they could reasonably match. Bring in Trengove and Lever and it allows TMAC to play as a more permanent forward (and probably do just as good a job as Watts (minus the good disposal). Trengove could also be ruck relief to allow Max some time to rest. Then go after Gaff for that good delivery into the forward line. I could more than handle the loss of Watts plus picks and minor players if it meant we brought in Lever and Trengove to sure up the backline (which did leak a fair bit this year), TMAC going to FF to partner Hogan (he has a tank and is a far better contested mark than Watts can ever be) and Gaff coming in to give us run and good disposal.
  5. we all know how we went when some imbecile adopted the moneyball approach. Unless it's the real thing, i don't want it.
  6. Maybe we interested in Gaff after all
  7. A shame that the season continue on when it did, he was getting better the further it went. Should hit the ground running at the start of next year.
  8. Is it possible he had his papers' stamped before the season started as a result?
  9. Actually he is 25 years 3 months, older than 25. If we are indeed after players between 23-25 he is outside the range
  10. 2 of the most loved player's currently are Nev and Viney. Throw in Jonesy who is just about universally loved by all who follow MFC and the answer to your question seems to be a resounding no. Just beat me to it Thrice!
  11. Let's remember this is based on the umpires opinion. I'd rather the opinions of experts on wh was BOG than umpires (who are potentially compromised in their bias for or against a player). A less than desireable example, but nonetheless, Daniher was awarded the ANZAC day medal, yet received only 1 brownlow vote for that game.
  12. You know what Dane Swan would be if he wasn’t a footballer? A dumbass. Hang on a minute.......
  13. good to see he's got wood for being with the Dees
  14. Don't the tigers to win it, so i'm going for the Crows. Generally if we're not in it, i usually want an interstate team to win (GWS not included). Crows have been the best all year, so deserve to be premiers.
  15. Sanity does prevail, but if the MRP were to follow the letter of the law, he would miss. It's a good result for footy that he hasn't, but it just further highlights how broken the MRP is, and how inept those who officiate on it are. Time for a complete reshuffle.
  16. Good to see Hoges having some fun with the boys. Lord knows he's due for a long run of better circumstances.
  17. either that or BF.
  18. There was no malicious intent on Cotchin's part, he just wanted the ball. It's a contact sport, sometimes accidents will happen. Cotchin should play. If by consequence this situation forces the AFL to adopt a more appropriate interpretation that stops their current bureaucratic bs, then his playing would make the game all the better for it.
  19. Maybe the last hurdle is you putting them through their final paces before making their way back into the team BBO!
  20. boohoo. You've got to be in it to win it, and both the Crows and Tigers had the fortitude to make the finals. We didn't. We have nothing to rue, we were not worthy, simple as that.
  21. Yes it is very grey. But that isn't Cotchin's fault, nor should it be his problem. The AFL have created this problem, Cotchin shouldn't be punished for their inept management of the game. AFL created the problem, they should be the one's that deal with the consequences. Cotchin should go, but the AFL should have been doing the job that they are paid to do (strengthen the standard of our game), something Gil & Co have been failing miserably at for so long, and to the detriment of our game.
  22. Momentum. Pure and simple. Tigers' have it in spades at the moment. Take that away and you'd find that the Tigers' with the same player's, coaches, etc are a team who mightn't be in the top 8 teams in the AFL. They are playing with momentum and spirit and 90,000 supporter's behind them. Momentum is a wondrous thing. The Dogs had it all of last September, will the Tigs be able to make it last 1 more week?
  23. Go for both options, if you are lucky to get tickets both times, sell the single to a no doubt desperate Tiger fan so they get to enjoy the day (35 year wait for a grand final is a very long time between drinks).
