  1. I couldn't believe the number of contested possessions the Scullster was listed as having... i think it was 14 or thereaabouts. most of his possessions however result in nippy, short handballs to players also trapped in the vortex and which tend to go nowhere.
  2. eight minutes into third quarter at the city end and Brad Green near the 50 metre line goes sideways looking for Watts in a contest. greeny of old could have gone back and slotted it. lot of people screaming have a shot. gee it's a long way back home.
  3. What rubbish. This 'Gen Y' cliche can't be used to describe en masse a certain age group. There are fickle supporters, tv watchers and scarf wearers at all clubs, at all ages. Aside from the current stinker, our indicators have gone up in the last three years: removal of debt, ladder position, facilities, playing list. Yours is a defeatist attitude, lucky you are not Todd Viney's script-writer.
  4. "the boys", Lyon, Connolly, Stynes and Viney were great, great players from our best era since Norm smith, v. unlucky not to win a flag. I have plenty of time forr all of them.
  5. You obviously missed rodney grinter's removal of terrry wheeler's teeth in 1988. if you are red and blue to the core you would not worry about sending your scarf back. sacking bailey was an unpleasant thing to do, esp for jimmy stynes. but it was a necessary thing to do. positive thinking leads to positive acts. turn up fri night and support the club. i am over the tom scully saga, am over abc's inhouse comedian serial-turd-smearing the club, am over tanking allegations, am over typewriter-assassinations of morton, jones, and am even over the shameful treatment of brent grgic. just support the club.
  6. Each year i give my new MFC scarf away to a young demon-of-the-future. As for my old one, it was knitted by my late demon-loving mother and would under no circumstances be parted with. If MFC ceased to be I would simply walk away from afl. until that time i will renew my premium membership. The club needs all the support it can get at the moment and we should back them to the hilt. I wish Todd Viney every success, he will add some desperately needed mongrel.
  7. To be discussed in detail, if anyone else is listening can you post info?
  8. The Scully thing is a burnt-out non issue.
  9. Brad Miller wasn't a dud, he was a late draft pick, no55 from memory but someone can correct me. Big heart and made the most of his limitations.
  10. In Viney, out Bailey. Todd is his own man, he will fly the flag, he is one of our own and he has succeeded at other clubs.
  11. Norm Smith coached his son (Ron Barassi) and it resulted in Melbourne's greatest era.
  12. Apparently they will be meeting today, followed by an announcement. "Grenades going off everywhere" at the club acc. to whathisname on the Sunday footy show.
  13. If Todd Viney gets a response from the players in the remaining games it would be hard to go past him. I see him waving his arms around passionately at games whilst DB is deep in thought.
  14. this stinking loss is just one more insult to the colours. woe is me, i remember being depressed as a ten year old suffering the 1966 season and three wins. it's been a long-time of heartaches, one year after a pathetic 'nother. the god-awful last quarter choke ag. hawthorn in 87 shows even when we're hot we don't expect greatness. the list is much better than the results being shown... the climate of expectation created out of tanking (i know other teams have done it) has hobbled us we think an elevator ride will take us automatically to the next level. i fear the ugliness of losing on the hallowed ground to gold coast if the present set-up stays in place. because that's what will happen.
  15. If Viney isn't installed as interim coach on Monday the supporters are being treated with contempt. How can Bailey lose by this amount and still want to push on? the club has been playing below potential for two years - i want to see some passion and someone waving the flag not these pathetic serial smashings at away grounds culminating in the mother of all smashing today. if the result doesn't ring alarm bells for the administration then we are in for a sorry, sorry time for the remaining games. we will not win one game if today's standard is maintained.
  16. just say, "Alves, Wells, Flower" gently under your breath one thousand times and I guarantee you will feel better.
  17. The answer is he prob. can't kick a torp anyway, he's from the generation of whitebread drop-punts. ps jared rivers played a good game and took a lot of big marks.
  18. We have had some good crowds this year at the G: v Richmond 63K? one of the best of all time; v Collingwood 73K? It's a bit like groundhog day seeing hawthorn players spin out of tackles and deliver lace out to their forwards season after season...
  19. Yes we have no gorilla forward to straighten us up. therefore we spend all our cash trying to set something up = turnovers. t Last three games (at least) how many times have Hawthorn mid-fielders broken away from tackles with pirouettes? we just can't lay hands on them.
  20. What still confounds me is why the greater wobblies are pushing for Tom anyway? It reeks of Sheedy and his desire to inflict damage on the Dees after being spurned for the coaching job. Why, for example didn't gws offer the huge bucks to a much higher credentialled player, did they all knock him back?
