  1. Yes. Beamer should have known the future when he made this speech in 2010.
  2. Guerra is on right now. I had to run off but he sounded pretty composed in his stance to not accept unders for Trac.
  3. That's right. But the coach at the time had a fair bit to do with that.
  4. Oh yeah, definitely read it that way. Not quite as much as Beamer Maloney's B & F speech back in the day where he said we were going places and if you didn't like it to [censored] off to Carlton (Mclean just left) but it makes the point!

They were good, Lawrence looks comfortable with the new system and special teams did a great job. However we did make it easy for them. Too much soft zone coverage and no-where near enough pressure on Lawrence. The interior D-line continues to impress me against runs but without Bosa on the edge they are seriously lacking. Purdy was either not fit to play or just terrible. His two picks were awful, especially the one into triple coverage. On the other one he would have taken the short underneath throw to CMC in the past, now he's looking deeper a lot. The fumble on the last drive was really disappointing as well, to not even get a few plays just sucked the life out of everyone and that was the story of the day - defense doing their best, getting off the field and then getting straight back on because the offense couldn't generate anything. Purdy has the contract now and whether it's fair or not it means people are looking at him through a different lens. He did a lot in this game you shouldn't do as a QB and for that money you simply need a better final drive than that. Jake Tonges is the only real positive for our offense so far, been an impressive scrapping TE. Apart from that I see nothing on offense that suggests we can mix it with good teams. Strange to say at 3-1 but I'm really not feeling it from any area in the team. Defense maybe a little but there are big holes now. Big game against the Rams this Fri and I'm feeling wobbly.
  6. Time to focus on getting the best deal possible.
  7. I've been making this point lately. Long term contracts are more about protecting trade leverage than holding players to them if needed. We seem to be moving more towards the case where if a club finds that they need to hold a player to a contract, things have already broken down. You need team unity and buy in. Yes, players test the waters and speak to other clubs a lot. I'm open to Christian having a think about his future, meeting with clubs and then deciding that his future is at MFC as well. The chance is very real though that he desires a fresh start elsewhere.
  8. It does bother me a little that Freo turned Jackson's head this way as well. I recall it was something like 'you can be more than just a ruckman or a forward, you can be the next running Adam Goodes unicorn machine'. On the flip side maybe they are selling individual promises too much and not enough team success vision?
  9. Good call.
  10. Can you think of anyone in recent times who went to Freo and elevated their game? Not just maintain their level, grow to become a better player. The case can be made for Jackson although there is still room for improvement there, but apart from maybe Will Brodie who has barely been on the park lately this doesn't appear to be a club you go for dreams to come true. Even going back 15-20 years. Hogan, Hill, Kerstin, Bennell, Mccarthy, Farmer, Tarrant, Josh Carr, Col Sylvia, Croad have you got time this morning? I can go on. Subjective of course but when you look at someone like Geelong or Sydney in recent times they are poles apart in getting players to another level.
