It's been a great debate indeed. Looking forward to seeing how it plays out and if we are fresher as a result.
  2. *Seven times All Australian. That's right count them, Seven. Seven is heaven...
  3. All I'll say is he was in absolutely ripping nick back then.

Honestly I have no idea if this is a good appointment and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. I don’t believe that you need to have a background in the game to be an AFL club CEO but I do think that the position of AFL club CEO is completely different to CEO of a corporation. You do need to have a grasp on the game, liaise with members whether that be in a forum like the AGM or down at the training track. Sounds like they've picked a CEO for a specific purpose. He's a former director at Racing Victoria, Vic chamber of commerce etc. Would have absolutely loved Nicholson I think he would have fit the bill perfectly but I wasn’t in charge of the brief so I don't know what they were looking for. Caulfield is clearly the priority so we’ve gone with someone in the know at least. It could be that this is a 3-4 year appointment. Anyway I have no other opinion on this right now, I don’t feel bad and I don’t feel good. Hopefully it proves to be the right call.

Think he was a Tigs fan. He was also made their CEO at 24 y.o!
  6. Just came across this thread now Hardtack. No need to apologies for sharing this journey, got a few challenges myself at the moment and reading about much harder challenges is helping me to get out of my own head. Take it easy mate, you really are an inspiration to us all.
  7. It seems that people think there is a direct correlation between resting Max in the last and our fade out. Simple explanations are great but it's rarely that way. We aren't in a franchise sport where we rested Steph Curry for the last quarter, we have 17 others on the field most of which are also premiership players. We have also bombed in every last quarter this year and I still don't think there is enough attention on the fitness side of things. You heard Holmes and Draper after the Cats and Dons games saying how they know if they run around with the ball on the outside that's the way to beat us, it's a dead giveaway right there. I saw Christian Salem, easily in our top 4 players on the night, attempt a 25m backwards 50 chip and scrubbed it about 10 leading to that late goal by Taranto or whoever. There were at least 2 or 3 instances like this in the last 5 mins that lead me to believe that fatigue and barely being able to run out the game is a problem for us. Yes I know we were coming off a 5 day break but as mentioned this has been the case in all games this season. I very much hope resting Gawn pays dividends. But we need more than 1 quarter of good footy. There aren't any finals sides that flick the switch when they want to.

I will absolutely cut Bayley some slack. Always trying times with a new born and he has been the reliable scoring source. However it doesn't change my expectations that if you're fronting up in that forward line at the moment, you need to be applying the bare minimum of defensive pressure efforts. We have 1 competitive key tall at best each week and are always scratching to find another who can do the job. We don't have the razor sharp cutting edge of a Brisbane or Adelaide forward line either so therefore in this forward setup we need everyone bringing their best tackling, chasing, coralling efforts each and every week. I love Bayely and want him back to his best doing his part for the team but we're at that point where a nice goal or two is outweighed by our inability to lock it in.

We haven't seen someone like Hunter for a long time. Someone who can play both sides and very well. Going to be an exciting watch, I doubt he'll be a WR and CB his whole career but it's interesting.

Mykel Williams is the edge rusher we've landed on at #9. Good hands, long arms. Has the natural strength but will need to develop the moves.
  11. That quarter is going straight to the pool room with the 3rd quarter against Essendon.
  12. A Richmond fan told me this once and I always assumed he was putting mayonnaise on it. Good to hear there was actually something to that story!
  13. Yeah it really wouldn't hurt to media to leak another rumour or two.
  14. As mentioned previously, 2 schools of thought on this. Neither is wrong and neither opinion can be deemed wrong at this point. We will see how good this idea is next week. Will we be full of run and fresher than ever? Do we capitulate and let bad habits creep in due to flirting with form? Hate to be fence guy but it's definitely a big picture thing.
  15. Yeah no-one really talks about that. Can't be easy
  16. Good call. At this point I'm much more interested in developing a consistent game style and where the majority of our score sources come from. Once that's honed I'll want to see some beltings again
  17. The Heartbreak Kid... The Show-Stopper... Mr Wrestlemania...Shawn Michaels!! HBK, large and in charge!
  18. HBK?
  19. I thought May was underwhelming early on as well. Lynch was rinsing him in contests and he could never get the right position on him.
  20. I'd love to see what we have in Culley

Thanks Daz. Had high hopes for him in 23 when I was watching more of Casey. Really tough to get a proper read on developing ruckman early on.

Do you guys worry that most of our 'scoring runs' coincide with scores from stoppage? Are you seeing enough in terms of scoring from back half transition? On the plus side we seemed to be back to a high level in scores from turnover.

Highly doubt many were saying he's the next big thing. Most were happy with with his effort in that game. Personally I just felt this game was coming so I'm not surprised.

Felt on a bit of an island last week when I said his effort was good but he was still a ways off what we needed as a no.2. So what I say will be pretty consistent with last week. He is not what we are looking for long term. How is Verall tracking?
  25. Oh god so did I. I wasn't happy we brought him back so quickly, the sights were set on him. 0 tackles and 4 pressure acts. It was the first time where no amount of impressive goals could paper over those cracks, it doesn't work.
