  1. And the Ch 7 commentators fawning over the whole show. I know it is for a noble cause , but..............
  2. I have been shouting from the rooftops about Viney in the Fwd Pocket. WOuld make others walk taller because of his strngth and willingness to attack the ball. He would ease the pressure on our defence because our lack of forward pressure lead ot our defence being swamped too often. Petracca in the guts would provide someone with his vision and hands to clear the ball out better.
  3. Sorry must have assumed he would be injured. We have got more depth than I thought.
  4. Jetta Frost Hore Lever Petty Salem Stretch Oliver Dunkley Petracca TMac Melsham Fritsch Weid J Viney Max Harmes Brayshaw Jones Lockart Hunt Hibberd/ ANB/ Preuss/No 3(????) Dunkley and Lockart did not have preseason so will improve Petty is still a kid and will improve heaps (ala Wetering) HArmes could go back and Salem go centre as outside mid/ crossing with Melsham. Expect Trac to be a contested in the guts !!! Brayshaw getting it out and TRac making the play. Viney will forced to make decisions close to goal so will not hold things up around the ground. Plus will supply a lot of fwd pressure My concern is the defence with Frosty the only Lock down bloke. Harmesy could do a job as could Jones
  5. Unfortunately the "Football Media"has become so crowded that the only way to get noticed is by making a "Very Loud"negative pronouncement , often without any inside or supporting facts. e.g. Matt Lloyd's continual criticism of Essendon (and everybody else), Judd's Training wheels comment, Damiann Barret on anything, Schwarz on MFC , . Sam Newman for just opening his mouth because it is full of vitriol.etc etc Do not even give them oxygen !!!
  6. If you want pur effort, Frosty !!! Lever & Melsham are too busy pointing at everyone deflecting the deficiencies in their own game. Agree Maxy is the "chosen"because he genuinely puts in. TMac would be my choice as VC . Lever's disposal is not worth the money he is getting and he has to learn to lead. There is more to it than finger pointing otherwise Jack Watts would have been capt ages ago. A capt is not neccessarily the highest paid recruit. May needs to get on the park and stay there before he can lead. Melksham...No Way ...too selfish Harmes : Committed but does he have the pedigree. Trac : Averages > 20 disposals a game. Thinks, does good things . Has skills to show the way. Brayshaw : If only he had a better year then 2018. Needs to reestablish himself. Last few games showed a lot of committment Clarrie : Ball Magnet ....turnover king( or the bloke receiving is. Needs to look at Jobe Watson, Greg Williams on relation to moving the ball or Jobes cousin an the way he delivers the ball with his Left ft kicks. AN ideal Outside mid is Seb Ross
  7. Actually the Club is waiting for Matthew Lloyd to tell us what role he will have. Then the Hun will make up the rest and then shove it to Robbo who will tell us it is gospel. The Media are stuffing (could use a stronger word) a good sport up. The Club are not going to announce what his role is until they look at their whole structure. But I am sure they have a good inkling, plus why would you let a bloke like RIchardson walk past you when he is available.
  8. I am assuming that AFL footballers all have the natural ability to learn new roles and associated skills. Oliver and Trac should train together all summer. One to learn endurance running and the other to learn how toi handball to a target more than 5 metres away. WOuldn't that make a difference. I do not think Viney CAN change because his genetic witing is see ball / I want it and I will not give it up. Let's face it he does not lose too amny one on ones. Somehow we have to get our insiders to back off once we have reasonable chnace of extraction , and be prepared to move wider. Oliver would be sensational with his pace and capacity to control the ball . The hooray punts have killed us this year. Before we write Brayshaw off, look at some tapes from last year where he broke games open with his vision and delivery. Lots of work to do over summer, but we have got the cattle to make it succeed. In a way I am glad we did not get Pick 2 because we would probably traded it to St Kilda for Carlisle. I will go home if they trade their first pick..
  9. I just posted on another thread about Melsham . It was the second selfish thing in about 1 minute by him at both ends of the ground. He should have let frost ( who rarely gets outmarked) compete and cover the ground ball (if it came) but he went to sleep after trying a spekky.
  10. That is how you reward loyalty.????? Give the bloke some slack and I feel we owe him.
  11. Un fortunately he is not getting better and his body is letting him down. Have a suggestion Nathan Jones as small fws . COmpetitive .
  12. JUst saw replay (got sick of Richmond scoring goals) There has been a lot of criticism of Nathan J kick with 1.40 to go, but the big blue was Melsham flying against Frost who was going up with North bloke . Spoilt the marking attempt and then proceeded to procrastinate on the wrong side of the pack which allowed Higgins a paddock to goal. Then when ANB was doing his final run Melsham kept running in the way without moving away from his man and giving a genuine option. Then had the temerity to have a word to ANB . Two instances of me-first footy.
  13. Only two I have major misginings about getting rid of are Hore and Corey Wagner. oth of them were 1st year players and need a bit of time to develop. Hore did not come back from his injured shoulder real well. Cory shwed a bit of go in the last couple of games , enough to indicate he is picking up the pace. A bit like Lockart and Dunkley. A fair bit of upside from all of them.
  14. In a complete sign of [censored] retentiveness I attempted to record negative statistics of yesterday's game. Handball Errors ( Not finding team mate in a reasonable position : 35 ( 1 goal scored against for this) Mainly short handballs in confined spaces, rather than using handball to move the ball which we diid a few times ) Kicks to advantage of Opp Players : 37 ( 2 goals scored against us from that) Dropped Uncontested mark : 1 Missed tackles : 4 (all in first half) (1 goal scored against us from that) General [censored] actions (undescribable) : 10 ( 3 goals against) these were just things that reflected a complete brain fads. Doesn't prove much except we make mistakes mainly with our disposal and in modern football possession is everything and should not be surrendered 72 times in a game.
  15. Petracca : 25 Possessions, 7 Tacxkles 10 Contested possessions isolated involvement ???? ( Handballs far enough to clear an area.) Brayshaw 25 disposal @ 76% , 8 Tackles Without purpose ????? Wagner puts in ,possibly a good potential small fwd ( he is really only a 1st year player
  16. Trac unfortunatley has to practice his set shot (and bal drop) instead of speechmaking. WHen he can kick gaols under pressure he would make a great captain. Max (c) TMac (VC) Jetta and Harmesy in leadership group Clarrie needs to get over his dinky handballing and Gus has to cure his colour blinded kicking. Then we will be away !!!!! I hope every player watched the Toiges and WC on SUnday to understand what commitment is all about.
  17. 6 Pass 5 Gawn 4 Brayshaw 3 Petracca 2 Harmes 1 Lewis Cannot put a fwd in who kicks 5 behinds ,mostly from set shots. It was said last week that Treloar gained more metres IN THE FIRST QUARTER than Clarrie did gfor the whole game. If he got more constructive than accumltive we would be busy in September.
  18. Brayshaw 24 disposals, 8 tackles. Hope I am around when he comes out of the spiral Chandler: 9 tackles indicates effort !! Goalkicking : shizenhousen at best
  19. The big issue in that clip above is not Gus, but 3 of our players standing boundary side and 4 or 5 Collingwood players UNMANNED on the goal side. Gawny is near the contest because Grundy is thre . Gus is being positive, but the rest are stagnant and in the wrong spot. Josh wagner is too close to the other 3 boundary side. A lot of this is confidence in your team mates..
  20. I reckon "Oscar : Limited but tried" nearly amounts to a BOG Baker : basics before party tricks Wagner : Had redhot go. ( Potentially a Small defender (when Nev retires ) or a small fwd .....now !!! Petty : Looked likely a lot. Dunkley:: extremely promising kid. Viney : If you get the ball you do not get to take it home. May : Nothing 15x 2km time trials will not fix.
  21. Some issues : Steele Sidebottom summed things up in his halftime interview, when he stated that they were confident that all they had to do was maintain/improve their pressure and we would make mistakes (make him an assistant (playing) coach straight away. at one point Melbourne had 5 bloks going for 1 ball. Collingwood had three areas covered outside. We got ball gave to outside and Collingwood outnumbered us EASILY and just marched down the ground. I thought we got out of that 3 years ago. I feel Hore would be cheaper than Lever ,....and more effective. Lever cannot seem to be able to man up when required. and once he gets the ball it is a big kick dwon the line .......to nowhere. SImple mistakes after a passage of good play leads to rebounds that we do not handle well Some positives I know he is a whipping boy, but Oscar's efforts were impressive. There was one post during the game criticising him for not beating Grundy in a ruck contest.. Get real even Sir Maximus with all his ruck craft does not win every hitout against Grundy. Oscar provided a competive big body in the forward line contests, and Fritsch took a good grab after Oscar provided the space. A team thing !! Patience is a virtue (too much is .........) but : Dunkley (19 yo) first year, late entrant to AFL training , Petty( big with a bit of aggro) is going to be a beauty because he contests. Hore is a terrific first year player although he has not done much for a few weeks.. Wagner is still really a first year player so has not picked up the tempo like Carlton's Walsh, but has a red hot go. Lockart is competitive and also a first year player who arrived into this years system a bit late. Baker also shows promise. All is not lost. 2020 roll on with May ,Weidemann, McDonald all having full preseasons. Fritsch is only a second year player. and plays above his height. Oliver is too good a player not be able to be more effective. i.e. get more positive yardage out of his contributions. Guss has worked his way back into some good areas in the last few weeks. Increased Tackles, Breaking lines with good disposals ,etc Believe it or not I am more positive about next year than what I was about this year (at the same time last year
  22. Bit harsh on Oscar. He has been serviceable. TRac disappeared that quarter because Hibberd Viney and Lever are stuffing up "the connectivity" In fact Oscar has been competitive in Fwd line. Provides a bigger target. He will be handy as backup swingman. Lever seems only good when he ia by himself , not a strong 1 on 1 . Hibberd has lost pace and confidence. JKH, Wagner both compeitive and committed.
  23. MY CAse has rested. Hope OMac burns . 8 goals
  24. 6 from Carlton . How come Henry from Gellong missed out and Blakey from Swans
