  1. 1; Geelong's midfield 3 Brownlows, 385 All Australians . , 2018 Mature aged recruit of the year and Duncan. MFC Midfield Average 50 games each ( Clarrie Gus and Trac) and Harmes (hasn't he improved) 2 > Goodwin is right we are nearly there (which is further than we have been) 3 Fritsch ( is a fatter Robbie Flower) and Salem are potential guns. 31/2 My theory relating to Umpiring related to the demands of CH 7 has been reinforced.
  2. We need to bring our second half skill level to all our games coming up. In that way we will win at least three which will get us there. I see the Toiges rate us higher than GWS by letting them run over them and put more pressure on us to hold our spot, because that result was not what we were looking for.
  3. Do not get me wrong . How good to see top six not including Jonesy ,Lewis andJettas Good to see Trac & TMac playing good games and still not cracking the big six There are no token 5th and sixth place getters here
  4. I have not been a great fan of Frosty, but have never ever doubted his efforts. He has been better since returning because he provides abig strong bloke ib defence. However his disposal does leave a little bit of improvement. Maybe we learn to use his good points and cover for any deficiencies

    Mr Jones

Just few weeks ago we were lauding the bloke. 10 minutes is a long time in football. Jonesy now has some backup and does not have to carry the team now. Let him enjoy the ride. Ring up Gus and ask him if Jonesy is stuffed.
  6. Not often (if ever) I agree with Lloyd's summary . At last he is showing some knowledge of the game ( admittedly he has 200 pls games and 900 goals more than me, but that only proves he had the physical skills and also the fact I did not play well the day the VFL recruiters turned up at Donald U 16's) I reckon the blame is not with Tyson because he is one of the see ball get ball blokes. He is 4th in line so cannot have a big bearing on things. When he was high in our B&F he was No 2 behind Jonsey so our depth in that area is strong . It is the blokes like JKH, Stretch, Fritsch, Salem etc who we need to be moving the ball. As for getting rid of Gusa, Why would you put the three yeas of dsevelopment and rehab into a player just to trade him when he is starting repay the investment. ( I still cannot get over the Scully situation which was similar. Maybe Scully could come back and repay MFC for the chance they gave him.)
  7. Thanks for that Rusty Nails
  8. I know this is not a MFC related thing but what a pity to lose a player like that. When you look at what he has achieved : 4 Premierships, 1 Norm Smith and 3 All Australians, you have got to feel the game is poorer for such a player to leave at a relatively young age. He has changed the role of the small forward in modern football with his Lower Possession, High impact, Team things and Tackling (actual and perceived. In my opinion he is one of the games greats. Well done Cyril ( at least we have the highlights to be viewed)
  9. Once upon a time you could get statistics from the MFC site fairly quickly after the game . Early this year you had to go to AFL site, but now it has disappeared. Is there a deal between AFL and Media to hide the game stats until publication on Monday (or day after) ? If not , how can we access basic stats from the game , PLEASE !!!!
  10. It seems so have North !!!!
  11. I am sorry ,but your suggestion of making Tmac a CHB goes against one of the tenets of our current improvement. The combination of Hogan and him is our strength at the moment. The game on Friday night has been hailed as one of the best of the season because of its intensity and pressure. There is a vast differnece in playing in that environment and a game against a lower VFL side. The weakness from us on Friday was twofold : Bombing into fwd line especially in first half. DId the I50 stats good ,but only provided and a launching pad for PA Not paying the umpires the required amount.
  12. Agree, there is more to a players worth than winning the 100m sprint. One other poster suggested bringing Frost in and freeing up Jetta and Hibberd. With all trsprcts to Frosty, Lewis' footy IQ is far superior . You are not a key member of multi premierships without having a lot of footy IQ. Until we get some experience down back Lewis (in particular is a required ) Bernie is struggling stats wise ,but provides an experienced body.
  13. I think the free kick against Melsham (and the 50 m penalty) was one of the worst decisions I have seen. So by implication Melsham must stop and wait for the defender to catch up with him and then they are to race to the ball . Crap !!!! 1 on 1 contests are an iregral part of our game and the kicking to your advantage is an important skill. I usually think umpiring evens out, but ............ not otnight josephine !!!
  14. Yeh, liked it more than some media people who like to espouse a contreversial opinion so they can be the focus of attention (until some other clown makes an utterance. This seemed to be a show about footy as footy (the culture) whch is a breath of fresh air.
  15. I am afraid you have either found an early drinking hole or have not been taking notice of Brayshaw's efforts. He is our outside mid !!!!! and we would be mad to lose him.
  16. Agree. And we felt we got belted !!! We are lauded as a VG Contested ball side. We moved into next step recently by moving ball away i.e. clearances per Gus and Salem. The time is to expand it against good sides playing well. Need to spread from see ball get ball to see ball( viney, Oliverl get ball (Oliver, Jones) , use ball (Salem, Brayshaw). The sky is the limit !!!
  17. Performance Rating 7/10 McDonalds.,Brayshaw, Oliver & Jetta. ( Marginal players stepped up a cog in team game i.e. Neale-Bullen, Harmes, Hannan) Improvement in Brayshaw (at last he has been able to have a run at it) and Fritsch Morally Geelong. Status : Adelaide Salem & Petracca (consistency) Both supply outside mids. vs Hawthorn 12 wins 6th
  18. Firstly we have won 6 on a trot,so it only takes one loss and we are trading, dropping people everywhere. We lost to a side who played out of their skins. Started in the middle where we did not get good clearance. (Had an inkling after Footscray). Sometimes I reckon "the Lab"on Fox talks a lot of @#$%%, but tonight it was obvious when shown , so I presume our Brains Trust will use it in review or change some structure to over come that. That took Angus and Nibblers influence out of the game a bit. It also enabled Colling wood to get the ball into their areas with superior numbers. We missed a lot of 25-30 m passes that would have enabled us to open the game right up .. The problem (apart from the kicking)was that Collingwood ran in numbers because we "assumed the pass would come off (as it has recently). It is pretty easy to hit a 7 foot bloke with his hands in the air if you are kicking without pressure. Their mid field of Pendelbury, Sidebottom, Treloar , De Goey, Mayne ,Wells etc isn't too bad. A major reason for our loss though, was because Daisy Thomas ( according to that genius BT) was the boundary rider for Fox. There is a bloody difference between him and our Daisy !!! ( When are Ch 7 going to get a commentator who knows the people. Jetta thinks he is 6' 4"" ( and often plays like it !!!) Plugger Mac was tremendous . We should sign him up !!! We still kicked 91 points, which could have been improved with the missed passes reason. They kicked 127 points mainly through reasons 1,2,3&4 Collingwood did actually play well
  19. Noticed that DOm Tyson did not "bomb"it as much, and his delivery looked a lot better.
  20. Suggestion to Ch 7. Get rid of Taylor until he can remember players names from sides apart from Collingwood, Richmond & Carlton
  21. A fotbaaling genius. Sheedy once said on WOS that he was the best athlete playing League Footy.
  22. I thought, why throw the Southern Stand for him after 4 matches. However since then he has shown he is pretty good. Buggar !!!!
  23. Agree wholeheartedly. It is not the size that concerns everyone, it is his heart !!!! To come back as well as he has after his start to his career says a lot about the bloke. Well done .
