  1. It seems so have North !!!!
  2. I am sorry ,but your suggestion of making Tmac a CHB goes against one of the tenets of our current improvement. The combination of Hogan and him is our strength at the moment. The game on Friday night has been hailed as one of the best of the season because of its intensity and pressure. There is a vast differnece in playing in that environment and a game against a lower VFL side. The weakness from us on Friday was twofold : Bombing into fwd line especially in first half. DId the I50 stats good ,but only provided and a launching pad for PA Not paying the umpires the required amount.
  3. Agree, there is more to a players worth than winning the 100m sprint. One other poster suggested bringing Frost in and freeing up Jetta and Hibberd. With all trsprcts to Frosty, Lewis' footy IQ is far superior . You are not a key member of multi premierships without having a lot of footy IQ. Until we get some experience down back Lewis (in particular is a required ) Bernie is struggling stats wise ,but provides an experienced body.
  4. I think the free kick against Melsham (and the 50 m penalty) was one of the worst decisions I have seen. So by implication Melsham must stop and wait for the defender to catch up with him and then they are to race to the ball . Crap !!!! 1 on 1 contests are an iregral part of our game and the kicking to your advantage is an important skill. I usually think umpiring evens out, but ............ not otnight josephine !!!
  5. Yeh, liked it more than some media people who like to espouse a contreversial opinion so they can be the focus of attention (until some other clown makes an utterance. This seemed to be a show about footy as footy (the culture) whch is a breath of fresh air.
  6. I am afraid you have either found an early drinking hole or have not been taking notice of Brayshaw's efforts. He is our outside mid !!!!! and we would be mad to lose him.
  7. Agree. And we felt we got belted !!! We are lauded as a VG Contested ball side. We moved into next step recently by moving ball away i.e. clearances per Gus and Salem. The time is to expand it against good sides playing well. Need to spread from see ball get ball to see ball( viney, Oliverl get ball (Oliver, Jones) , use ball (Salem, Brayshaw). The sky is the limit !!!
  8. Performance Rating 7/10 McDonalds.,Brayshaw, Oliver & Jetta. ( Marginal players stepped up a cog in team game i.e. Neale-Bullen, Harmes, Hannan) Improvement in Brayshaw (at last he has been able to have a run at it) and Fritsch Morally Geelong. Status : Adelaide Salem & Petracca (consistency) Both supply outside mids. vs Hawthorn 12 wins 6th
  9. Firstly we have won 6 on a trot,so it only takes one loss and we are trading, dropping people everywhere. We lost to a side who played out of their skins. Started in the middle where we did not get good clearance. (Had an inkling after Footscray). Sometimes I reckon "the Lab"on Fox talks a lot of @#$%%, but tonight it was obvious when shown , so I presume our Brains Trust will use it in review or change some structure to over come that. That took Angus and Nibblers influence out of the game a bit. It also enabled Colling wood to get the ball into their areas with superior numbers. We missed a lot of 25-30 m passes that would have enabled us to open the game right up .. The problem (apart from the kicking)was that Collingwood ran in numbers because we "assumed the pass would come off (as it has recently). It is pretty easy to hit a 7 foot bloke with his hands in the air if you are kicking without pressure. Their mid field of Pendelbury, Sidebottom, Treloar , De Goey, Mayne ,Wells etc isn't too bad. A major reason for our loss though, was because Daisy Thomas ( according to that genius BT) was the boundary rider for Fox. There is a bloody difference between him and our Daisy !!! ( When are Ch 7 going to get a commentator who knows the people. Jetta thinks he is 6' 4"" ( and often plays like it !!!) Plugger Mac was tremendous . We should sign him up !!! We still kicked 91 points, which could have been improved with the missed passes reason. They kicked 127 points mainly through reasons 1,2,3&4 Collingwood did actually play well
  10. Noticed that DOm Tyson did not "bomb"it as much, and his delivery looked a lot better.
  11. Suggestion to Ch 7. Get rid of Taylor until he can remember players names from sides apart from Collingwood, Richmond & Carlton
  12. A fotbaaling genius. Sheedy once said on WOS that he was the best athlete playing League Footy.
  13. I thought, why throw the Southern Stand for him after 4 matches. However since then he has shown he is pretty good. Buggar !!!!
  14. Agree wholeheartedly. It is not the size that concerns everyone, it is his heart !!!! To come back as well as he has after his start to his career says a lot about the bloke. Well done .
  15. I can remember when Robbie Flower came on as 19th Man against Collingwood reserves at Victoria Park and the comments were "look at the shiela !!" because he was pretty thin and wore those "äthletic glasses ". 5 minutes later he had the ball and showed it to half the Collinwood side as he floated down the ground . The comments then changed to "Kill the shiela ". Robbie Flower was the reason to go to the footy from then on. Compared to Flower in his first year Fritsch is fat . However there is a lot about him that reminds me of Flower in that he floats rather than moves and is a lot tougher than his build indicates. A terrific young player.
  16. Have to agree, but I watched it and think how natural his football skills were. However a pity he/we could not acommadate him in the system , both for his and MFC's sake.
  17. West Coast and RIchmond have only beaten sides below them. That is why they are where they are !! We do not know how North would rate through this part of the year. It was only people /media who rated them pretty low.
  18. I just viewed his interview/press thingy and I have to admit he has matured into an absolute champion of this Club. When he first started he was all heart and many times a two-grab player. We can see the skill development over his time so that now he is not only a contested ball winner, but now plays the BIG moment very well albeit through a super contest or a "captain's" goal. Not only has he developed from an inward looking approach to his leadership, but now openly embraces the development in the club as a whole. He has been shaped or rather shaped himself into a real leader who is now looking around his group very positively. He has demonstrated tremendous loyalty to MFC and has invested a lot of himself in it. We have been lucky to have and must congratulate him on not only his career but the way he has gone about it. Well done !!
  19. You could feel his joy and relief on Sunday in his interview. He is just showing that class that was always going to come with a maturing body. It is noticeable that he is ambidextrous with his kicking , which gets him into some really good position to move the ball well. Seems a great young kid to fight back the way he has. A credit to him ,MFC and parents.
  20. Last week we were fauning over some taxpayer funded wedding. ( Some people watched it instead of the footy) and now we are becoming a subset of Disneyland. Stand up Australia ,this is our national game. We are fast becoming the 52nd state !!!

I would say we need to look after a few people currently at MFC and aim on keeping them considering the development work that has gone into them .( i.e. T@OMac, Hoges etc who are key players. From all accounts we have sold the Southern Stand for one of our "newies" Is Gaff better than Oliver, Viney, Brayshaw, Petracca ? Plays a different role than Jones . ANB , Hannan could develop into a 2020's Jones.( Remember that Harmes is probably just as good a player as Jonesy back at the same age. Our immediate problem is replacing Vince & Lewis in a couple of years.
  22. and a broken finger !!!! What will he do when fully fit ???
  23. Agree wholeheartedly. Admittedly everyone has a right to express a view but the way some campaigns have been waged against some "Whipping Boys" e.g. Watts, TMac, Omac, Lewis, Tyson , Nathan Jones (yes early on the knives were out) does not really bring much credit to the discussion of what is our favourite team. The players are human.
  24. Trengove WAS NOT a disgrace. He had a horrid run with injuries which seriously hindered his development. No one could question his efforts for MFC. A Quality young man who got dealt some bad cards. Scully still rankles me (as does O'Meara). Goes to a club in draft. Shows potential, gets injured and the Club gets him back on the park patiently and then they up & leave .( Partly the AFL's fault though
  25. Taylor is the worst. Because of Ch7 doing the fixture he only has to know the names of Carlton,C;wood, Essendon, RIchmond and he could get by. However he cannot even do that. Last night Ch 7 "Commentators" carried on their own ïn house discussion"and forgot to even call the footy. Turn the sound off and it was marvellous. The biggest problem with Footy currently is the wall to wall commentary/analysis with an entire cohort of people trying to get their minute of media time and fame. As a result the Sport itself (grass roots) gets no coverage because it is swamped by AFL
