  1. its mind games, telling the hawk players they wont have to try hard to beat the crows and maybe catch them unawares. but he wold know they have overachieved this year as a team to make the prelim. behind closed doors it would be all positive.
  2. There are deep issues at PA, it will be interesting to see who they end up with.
  3. been there done that, unlikely to bring anything new. Though on memory I dont think he was the midfield coach last time which i think we all discussed was odd.
  4. SImply he realised his kids don't stay kids for long and wants time with them, the way his dad supported him...good on him and hopefully once his boy is running around in red & blue he'll get back into it as he has the talent. Given I'm in WA and haven't seen an image of brett since he retired...wheres the hair!! lol.
  5. I reckon just bid for the our games, he'll get them really cheap and they'll be live every week not matter where you live Once we start killing it it will be a ratings and cash cow for ten...a perfect storm..
  6. More the case how will nicknat go when Cox retires, if he hasn't learnt to read a game of footy they then he'll be a huge liability with the way the game has evolved. edit: spelling
  7. that low 18th best ruckman on stats and starting in the AA...our boys should all grow dreadlocks and get foreign citizenship in Fiji, if Fiji right? What a joke, who is on the panel, anyone know. Love Lyon's quote. lol
  8. Its good part of finals, separates it from the home and away. On memory waltzing matilda won the public vote on the anthem at the time of the nation choosing. So our national anthem would have been about a sheep stealer who commits suicide to stop owning up to his actions...could any nation match that. The national anthem is what it is, I generally like, prior to its adoption, it was god save the queen (King) so we can always go back to that if you like. As for girt by sea, buy a dictionary.
  9. great idea but maybe limit it to members of over 20 years of continuous membership, then every decade of membership as a celebration. You could even use retired stars for it.
  10. yes i agree, its the silly season. if he has quit we'll officially hear about it soon enough.
  11. Maybe he played rivers out of position as he felt Rivers was more versatile then only pigeon holed as a backman. Changes of roles often comes with a new coach. Time will tell.
  12. A very interesting read, but for all your psych testing, the old gut instinct is usually the best. The process was the process, for example we don't know how much difference their was between say hardwick and bailey, it might have been 1 point in a scale of 1000. Though they most likely didn't ask him what he would be do if the CEO and footy department head were conspiring against him, but the players loved you?
  13. ch10 had it in Perth, but not 7...so go figure..
  14. Issue with Misfid earlier in the year if I remember correctly was a complaint about what was now expected from the coach. Basically all the players were told what they had under bailey was playschool or below AFL standard and now it was time to become a modern professional club in terms of the work required. This would have been a shock to many of the players, but I think more so to indigenous players who to my perception are very highly skilled naturally but rely on that for success. This was no longer good enough for Neeld and the club. As for Jurrah, he should do the right thing and ask for a trade and not walk out, its been done many times by other players. As for going to Adelaide to be near his family, my white anglo-saxon view is he should run the other way, as Farmer did the same when he moved back to Perth and it was not a good thing and resulted in lots of off field problems that affected his on field performance. As for Wonna, i think it came down to he didn't like the city, and that's not restricted to indignenous players but all sorts ever since clubs recruited from outside the metro area. As for Jurrah, I didn't thin he would play again for us, surprised we got a game out of him this year. Plus he seems to be really fragile and breaks easily, though he's not the only one with that problem at the club
  15. RR maybe some more depth to your argument, they are all very shallow.
  16. He only went home due to family problems, sad really as he had more problems once he did on and off the field..good to hear he was down supporting the boys.
  17. Neeld was reported as stating on Wednesday that "Moloney" was struggling with the changing game, basically the current tactics dont suit his existing style and he hasn't been able to adjust. I'm sure inside the club they have given him direction, but if he failing to follow it then he has no place. For example if it is true we was told to trim down and didn't that would show a disregard to the new direction of the club. He plays for the club, not the other way around. Its unfortunate if true (about all the above) but nothing is final yet till announced and done. As for a desintation i expect he would be chasing a top 8 club being nearer the end of his career than the beginnig.
  18. Online as well.. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/afl/more-news/melbourne-midfielder-brent-moloney-set-to-quit-demons-and-become-afls-first-free-agent/story-e6frf9jf-1226462679875
  19. Though it helped that collingwood had a 5th rate ruckman on the night, if jolly was playing he owuld not have been dominant in that manner....I guess it proves you do not watch other football teams!! Nicknat is over rated and flashy, playing it a well drilled team where average players look good as the "team" is playing well. If you took him out of it and put nick with us, bulldogs, GC, GWS etc he would struggle week in week out, as he wouldn't have experienced players / good team structure to get him the ball. Whereas Jack will still find the ball and give it to a team mate.
  20. On memory we are or were marketing to the chinese students, giving them free tickets etc. Not sure of the results. The heartland program is the best initiative, take them to the footy for free. Not sure how much more they put into it, but also meeting the players as part of the trip pre-game will cement them in the dee's camp. That why if the game is crap they can talk to their mate, including on the ride home how they met Howe, Watts etc. Makes it personal. Otherwise just breed faster with more kids I've added three.
